Reform UK’s mayoral candidate for London Laila Cunningham has sparked a controversy after she said that Muslims wearing the burqa should be subjected to stop and search. She suggested that no one should cover their face “in an open society.” She also said that someone hiding their face should be seen as a criminal. She claimed that there are parts of London that looks like a “Muslim city.” Cunningham is herself a British-born Muslim of Egyptian descent. She has been announced as Reform’s candidate for the 2028 mayoral elections last week.

Speaking at a podcast, she said, “If you go to parts of London, it does feel like a Muslim city. The signs are written in a different language. You’ve got burqas being sold in markets.” She said there should be “one civic culture” and it “should be British.” She added, “It has to be assumed that if you’re hiding your face, you’re hiding it for a criminal reason.”

London Mayor Sadiq Khan said that politicians who "sow division" undermine London's strength, which he said comes from diversity and freedom of religion. Slamming her remarks, Shaista Gohir, the CEO of the Muslim Women’s Network UK, said that it is “dangerous” and a “dog whistle” to racists. The Guardian quoted Gohir saying that despite Cunningham’s background she was “sending a message to Muslims that they do not belong” and “emboldening people who already abuse Muslims and influencing those people who are reading this misinformation.” Afzal Khan, the Labour MP for Manchester Rusholme, was also quoted by The Guardian saying that Cunningham’s comments a “deliberate and cynical ploy”, adding, “This is all about divisive ideas being pumped into the society deliberately for electoral benefits.”

Blame should go on the politicians that allowed uncontrolled mass migration. Blaming immigrants is just a deflection from the actual problem of incompetence of globalists leading western nations.

Absolutely. Blaming the immigrants is like putting the cart before the horse. Who allowed them to come, and then multiply?

Khud galti kii, ab bhugdo!

I've not stayed for an extended period only for work now. When I was younger and would visit friends it seemed the city is quite divided but more on national lens than religious.

There were very obvious Bangladeshi areas, Arab areas, Pakistani areas, Afro-Caribean areas, Indian areas, Somali areas. To be honest it isnt too different from most mega cities across the world.

I guess you could link them together based on religion. I'm someone who based on my background could tell the difference, perhaps to a native white person it would appear to be one complete blur.

I find it interesting that a lot of focus on X and right wing across the world seems to be on London.

New York is never really mentioned. The stereotypical hot dog from a New York cart is halal 9/10 times and you also see every religion and nationality living side by side.

Reform is doing very well nationally so could have a shot as Sadiq has already won a few times in London so voters may suffer from fatigue.

Mayfair has now become a very large Arab area; whereas before they would invest around Edgware Road. in recent years they have bought swathes of properties in Mayfair.

so when you walk around Mayfair or visit the restaurants you'll see many women with Hijabs and even burqas..
Ferraris and other super cars with Saudi/UAE number plates on the streets...

New developments around Berkeley Square and other luxury flats built in and around Mayfair have been bought out by foreign investors, largely from the Middle East...

The problem Reform have is that these particular buyers are the ones that are spending their money in the expensive shops in and around Mayfair; they're the ones that are spending their money in the shops and restaurants....

I don't think they have problem with those people the rich Gulf Arabs or even the Rich Russians and Chinese who push up the property prices but only visit the city for holidays or recreation.

It is mainly those areas like Ilford, Whitechapel etc that they will have problems with.

Ilford has always been the same, very large Asian community and the town centre is extremely poorly designed which means you have ring roads and a bigger concentration of shops etc which makes it look like there is a greater concentration of Asians living and working in a small hub...

Whitechapel and the surrounding areas are now the go to places with its vibrancy, markets, bars and restaurants...

I wouldn't believe anything that comes out of any of the Reform's candidates mouths.

Laila has jumped on the bandwagon too late. Zia Yousuf, Sadiq Khan and now Laila Yousuf have already been branded as Islamists plotting to take over London by the ethno-nationalists who are the natural offspring of the Reform Party.

Like Priti Patel and the desperate Suella Braverman before her, taking an Anglo-appeasement approach will only lead to a kicking down the road. Fudge browning won't work. The ethnics should stick to the traditional political parties which have always worked on policy rather than ethnic identity.

After looting the majority of the world being the main architects of slave trade from africa , and sending their crooks and illegitimate cowboy decendents to the Americans and Australia, south africa Zimbabwe to settle and steal native lands they are now moaning about different cultures propping up their sorry country which the sun set many decades ago

There is no problem with it being a Muslim city - with the assumption that said Muslims are UK passport holders.

Reform aren’t taken seriously, they comment hate daily and it’s not just Muslims , they hate Hindus too

Hitman's bootlicking of the British Raj is so ingrained that he is parroting the white complaints that London is looking like a Muslim city. Forgetting of course that there are huge towns in London that look like Hindu or Sikh cities.

Does @Hitman think this is ok? If you want me to bump my threads on Wembley and Southall nod your head twice and I will oblige. 👍

All major western cities have pockets for different ethnicities.

For example, in Toronto, you can find Chinese area (Chinatown), Bangladeshi area, Indian area, Pakistani area, Greek area, eastern European area, little Italy etc. Toronto has over 200 different ethnicities. Very multicultural.

I am sure it is the same in London, Sydney, New York etc. All major western cities are like that.

Sanghis who have never set feet outside of India probably do not know these. They get their facts from BJP WhatsApp University. So, they end up looking stupid with ignorant takes. :inti
