PCB official travels to England with squad instead of Shahnawaz Dahani

That’s completely unfair.

The PCB only got caught out last night. They haven’t had time yet to invent a fictional role for this freeloader to have as his excuse for displacing a player from the team.

So of course it’s confidential. It will be confidential until someone can invent a plausible lie to justify it.

Let's see.

I've been told that this official is from the UK originally and his family live there.

He replaced a fast bowler, not an administrator.

So unless he’s 6’2 and bowls at least 140K, no excuse is going to wash.

Any non-playing excuse is precisely that - an excuse.

Remember Roy Keane and the Saipan Incident at the 2002 World Cup? I don’t know if you’ve ever spoken with any of the players, but my Dad was the GP of one of them. And he was clear that what caused it was the Irish Football Association’s hangers-on flying to Asia in Business Class while the players sat behind them in Economy Class.

It sounds like we are seeing a similar thing with PCB cronies displacing actual cricketers.

It might well be a blessing in disguise, otherwise, we do not know anything about these players for sure. Who knows the next thing we will get to read is about the latest news headline "Dhani sold Pakistan for 1000 pounds".

We should just pray that no match-fixing scandal happens on the tour of England And, Pakistan's name might not be maligned in the western media.

In that case why even bother sending a cricket team. Just send a bunch of officials for a holiday instead and call the games off.

The underlined above is a conflicting opinion and more of an allegation rather than news reporting.

First, the opinion, "This helped Wahla, who will be on holidays in England, avoid spending money on ticket"

We must hear Wahla's side of the story instead of blindly believing in what the report says since it has been made to sound like, Wahla actually chocked the spot of Dhani and got onboard by force; however, the actual reason was NOT Wahla. It was the logistics that did not work out on time for Dhani.

Second, the report says "on the other hand, Dahani’s burgeoning career suffered a potential setback."

What does Wahla got to do with it? How is he responsible for Dhani's "career suffering a potential setback"?
There is no connection between the two.

Yes, indeed it may be deemed morally wrong; however, if PCB had already PAID for that empty seat and there was no REFUND for it, then why let it go wasted? Someone had to use it, and if Wahla was there on the right place and on the right time, then so be it.

Perhaps the right way of doing this was, make Younus Khan pay for the losses PCB had occurred due to that empty seat and cost of bio-secure bubble and only then, let the seat go empty on the plane.

Or perhaps sell the seat to Wahla on a half or slight discounted price to recoup some of the losses.

Don't fully agree.
There is a granularity in it that you MUST understand.

Hear me out,
If it's a talented young and emerging BATSMAN, then I tend to agree with you. In almost all cases, talented young and emerging BASTMEN must be grinded enough through the domestic and A games to get seasoned and battle hardened enough before they are transitioned into the national squad; HOWEVER, in case of a pace BOWLER, there is always enough room to play with.

Young talented bowlers learn A LOT in playing above their grade team, especially in international trips. Yes, they may get the initial battering but there after a certain point, there isn't much they learn in playing more n more domestic. Matter of fact, they tend to degrees because the domestic batsmen starts learning how to counter their natural talent and armory.

So they must be introduced into higher and tougher level cricket but only those very few ones that do have a genuinely high promise and potential. You can't just interject any TD&H for a pace bowler to be infused into the national squad.
Perhaps Musa Khan or IK Jr. are such are examples. Not enough talent or skill yet they sent him to Australia with the national squad. Ridiculous!

IMO, Dhani is the guy who can be our potentially our next great just like Wasim Akram and Waqar Younus who were fast tracked into the national squad, and they never looked back.

Not hearing you out :)

The evidence is entirely to the contrary. It's not just Musa and IK Jr. It is Naseem Shah, Hasnain etc as well. They were all considered talented. Only Shaheen has slipped through but even he is not a finished article until he goes back into domestic cricket. International cricket is results business - not a training ground where you lose games in order to train players.

Your second argument is even stranger. Good players will perform in domestic more often than not. And if they do get figured out in domestics, what chance on international stage? Domestic cricket will give them the hard knocks to keep getting better and learning from all kinds of challenges. Also, Dhani has hardly played any domestic cricket, so who is figuring him out and what digression?

Height of cronyism!!!

I don't think this could have been approved by WK

Most likely at present Zakir khan who is another Leach sucking blood from PCB for even recommended him to fly on this sear and deserving player has pulled back!!!

Pakistan aka sifarishstan- mumleket khudad

Shukar karo inhon nein usmam Walha ko team mein nehein dal dia

Well, I am talking about this stuff based on facts. Our history is not clean, unfortunately. New players are always under the pressure of senior players. If a senior player forces him to take money under the table, he has no choice to say No. Read Amir's case study. It is better if he debuts against a less strong team - would be good for his confidence rather than against a formidable team like England. They are there for a reason so that players are safeguarded against some hanky panky stuff off the field.

Yes, and following that logic, why send a team at all then? That's what I was asking. We can send a team of officials to have a nice holiday instead, all expenses paid and no harm done.

This is a non-issue because Dahani wasn't part of the squad.

But some are suggesting that he should have been included instead of the official on the trip to England, which is an interesting suggestion.

Don't see the issue tbh, the official going on the flight is apparently responsible for ensuring that the team adheres to the UK Biosecure and Quarantine protocols, with Haider Ali acting like an idiot, that seat would have gone to waste therefore rather than let that happen, the PCB took the opportunity and put that person on the seat.
