PCB slaps PKR 5 million fine on players after T20 World Cup 2026 exit

Is the PCB justified in fining Pakistan players PKR 5m after their T20 World Cup failure?

Yeah. Apparently flew away in a huff half way through Ishan Kishan’s innings. I pity the Pakistani players, board and the country for having to put up with a tantrum throwing man-child.
I think he left in the middle of pak innings. ( after 6 wickets or so) There was a video of it in revzsports channel .Someone failed to capture his expression after farhan and agha's dismissal. He locked himself in the room.

The guy is not normal, behaves very immaturely. Forget being the PCB chief, how the hell did he become their interior minister?

Im absolutely enjoying the turnaround of events before and after the tournament..Just three weeks before, the same Pak people in the forum were keeping Naqvi in the head for his boycott drama and were making big statements like ICC have to give big revenue shares to Pakistan, without Pakistan ICC is nothing, Naqvi is greater than Jay shah..etc. Hope atleast now these people realise he is a big dramebaaz and a lunatic baby who only cares about himself and his image. PCB is the most disgusting cricket board even far worse than Bangladesh..

They’re behind the times with modern sport. Most teams in all sport do not fine players like this. They prioritise keeping confidence high. We think we can somehow fine and criticise teams into winning. It doesn’t work. The more pressure you are under, the lower the confidence, the worst the sporting display you will put out. Yes these sports stars are privileged but it’s not the way to produce best results.

Ironically fines are used. But they are used for other things. Don’t meet fitness can result in fines. Not doing the diet or training set out for you, fines. Late for team meetings, fine. Teams even drop players from matches if they break the rules. These are the ways fines and criticism can be used. It makes the players do all the background stuff in order to allow them to give them best in performances. Not punishing them for the result of the match, which is largely out of their control. All you can do is try your best and hope it goes your way. As with any other team. You do the hard work before hand, try your best on the pitch and that’s all there is to it.

PCB and media tends to be overboard in criticism and fining after match results. And too lenient on stuff like diet, fixing, strength training, fitness. All things that the player is easily able to control.

Lol good by PCB for fining these jokers. If I were PCB president I would welcome them with garland of shoes and ride of donkeys in Lahore.

They deserve this treatment for their terribleness.

These clowns think they are bigger than team they play with people's emotions.

They don't work on their game they never want to improve their skills.
Pakistan fans should be strict with them. They just get away with every mistake. Losers of highest level.

Wow...is it true...

Imagine the pressure on players next time they step on the field ...

But imho don't think pak performance was that absymal...in fact there was improvement.

Pak scored 114 against us in wc t20 2026 ...as opposed to 113 from WC T20 2025 - on 9th June 2024 -esteemed bro @Bhaag Viru Bhaag has happy memories of the day, both on and off the field :) :kapil

Any ways, troll attempt apart - i dont think Pak's performance was so bad that it warranted a Rs 5mill fine - i mean remove Nawaaz, Shadab, Babar, usman maybe even your U-19 guys have more promise and can be fastracked.

pathetic decision and taken in pressure as i guess MQ has to show the top brass he's taken some steps.

Remember how many manchildren here were supporting his immature behavior of running away with the trophy and celebrating it?

He is not alone and with so many immature people in the country it's obvious why guys like these become ministers. He is a fair representation of the country

Usman Tariq failed against Sri Lanka and contributed to Pakistan losing a semi final spot
Dude, its literally his debut world cup series. Are you being serious now?

He has been doing great. Do you expect a batsman to score 50 every match?

I think I have figured out the big picture now :D. A masterpiece from Naqvi!!

Naqvi has wanted to host a tournament for a long time and has been preparing for it. There are 3 things needed: Trophy, Prize Money, and another team.
First, he stole the trophy from India in September - the first need to host a tournament met!
Now he stole the money from Pakistani players for the Prize Money - the second need to host the tournament met!
Now he just needs to find a team (Namibia or Oman) and then all pieces of this puzzle will have fallen in place!! He will give that Prize Money back to the Pakistani players and everyone is happy again.

LOL... This is funny... 5 mil fine.. Is this PCB or some kind of school that is punishing student for late fee submission or whatever...

PCB has become a joke

I hope Pakistani fans are now finally proud of Mohsin Naqvi and him stealing the Asia Cup trophy. The guy gave Pakistani fans so many memorable moments to cherish right from before the start of the tournament till now.

Mohsin Naqvi simply cannot manage PCB while simultaneously doing his duties as the Interior Minister, it was wrong from the beginning to give him two important positions. This cannot work.

Trophy chor Naqvi might as well sell the “stolen” Asia Cup trophy on the black market and spare the few players who actually performed from paying the fine.

i feel bad for players. i think they played upto their full potential. a little bit of luck would have taken them to semis. pcb is the most idiotic board out there

That assumes that there will be people willing to pay for it.

This needs to be made into a comedy series on Netflix

I think, equivalent to home ministry in India - Amit Shah’s counterpart.

Can you imagine Amit Shah running away with another team’s trophy or sulking away in a room because India was losing to Pakistan? 😂

forget running away with the trophy . .. I cannot see a Indian home minister officially running BCCI under Modi who expects nothing but undivided attention from his ministers .

I expect a batsman to turn up in the crunch matches. Like Fakhar did. Usman Tariq had no excuse to bowl poorly against Sri Lanka of all teams.

I am pretty sure it is fake news. It cannot be for real, probably something like demotaion of contracts.

But there needs to be a overall overhaul and now focus needs to be on ODI WC27 in SA.
Start with kicking out trundler captain of odi we have

Who are they fining from among the PCB administration though? Are they being held accountable for this as much as the players?

While they’re handing out fines for underperformers, they should fine Haris Rauf too. Even though he didn’t play, if he had been selected we would’ve probably lost to the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands.

Great PCB has fined its players for their poor T20 World Cup performance. But let’s be honest, the real problem isn’t the cricket. It’s live streaming. If matches weren’t broadcast in HD, the PCB could have declared it as a historic campaign and perhaps even a dramatic victory over India in a final. No replays, no screenshots, no awkward scorecards, just pure narrative control.
Losing to India isn’t just a defeat, it’s a storyline disaster. Without cameras, someone (Babar/Sahibjada Farhan/Fakhar) might even have been lined up for the highest civilian award for his services to national pride, akin to honouring Army Cheif to Feild Marshal.

The money will be as real as that cheque some business men gave in WT20 when Pak defeated India lol.

Take all these “fines” with a pinch of salt.

Just a distraction from the on field and to some extent off field disaster. No need to take it seriously.

It's not right how unfairly Naqvi stacks the deck against his own players.

Trophy Chor antics, the whole boycott antics only to roll back. If he was serious on boycotting the game, he should have gone through with it and faced the consequences.

The players inevitably crack under pressure. They are already in pressure because it's them facing India in an ICC tournament and Pakistan hasn't historically done well against India.
The media hype that players create for themselves only serves to make the failure that much more predominant.

I get that there is some good media/PR around players like Rohit/ MSD/ Kohli but that's mostly to do with their commercial value as a brand. Those PR have little bearing around them being selected into national teams after their best by date.

It seems that perception management is the thing the Pak cricketers do end up doing. Which is fair for getting brand endorsements etc but not for getting selected to be in the Pak teams.

Imposing a fine but not rectifying persistent mistakes, messing with batting order. Sounds lame.
So will Babar start scoring runs at no. 04 after this fine?
