The most important part of the match happening in 30 minutes

For any team that loses the toss, grow a pair and go for the 250 mark!

Peshawar Zalmi have won the toss and elected to bowl first against Islamabad United

So we dropped Gohar for Fawad Ahmed?

Asif and Chacha are playing the same role so one should be dropped. Due to Chacha's bowling, Asif is the obvious choice but instead, they drop a contributing player.

Trust in the process. Rehan bhai rarely lets us down :afridi

Really surprised that Imran Randhawa still not in the XI at no 7. This would make the combination much better in my opinion than Wahab (Batted well in last match) at no 7.

Opening partner of Hales fails again. This time Stirling

Good to see Salt instead of Shadab. High time for the fans to realize what a mediocre batsman shadab really is.

Rohail needs to work on his batting so he can open for United. It'll allow him to add another dimension to his game but also give United another option for a foreign player in the middle order instead. A top 3 composed of only foreign players is not good for the league.

If Salt fails again, Rohail will come in next game.

Islamabad r best batting team in this tournament but i dnt think they can defend a score...minimum 200 needed

Should have given Abrar Ahmed a go instead of Umaid

Pitches are too flat. Spinners look to be useless here. Better to stick with pacers who have good variations, preferably fast medium (not too fast as there are small boundaries).

Let's see if Shadab will be brave enough to play a young Pak keeper over an Englishman.

Definitely. Rohail was a key component of Shadab’s successful Northern side.

Rehan and Hassan Cheema will also have a lot to say in these decisions and I suspect they were the ones who insisted on Salt for three games. Statistically it was the right idea, but after three consecutive failures, I feel they’ll relax their insistence and give Shadab to green light to bring in Rohail.

Simon and Aamir Sohail talking about local keeper for IU that there should be someone in Pakistan and none of them mentioning Rohail Nazir. Maybe they just dont know he is in the squad, commies should do better research. :smith

Looks like the chasing streak is going to continue 3 down they need a decent score.

Urooj Mumtaz mentioned him, and that he skippered Pak Shaheens in NZL to be fair.

Mujeeb has been expensive throughout disappointing spinners have been ordinary overall.

Yes she did but she came into discussion afterwards when Aamir and Simon spent a couple of minutes talking about how there should be a local keeper somewhere in Pakistan to replace Salt without mentioning Rohail.

Excitement is evaporating quickly and PSL badly needs a total to be defended.

Its tough being a tournament. As a tournament you need to deliver, low scoring games, high scoring games, totals chased, total defended, close finishes etc. :misbah

IU in trouble here. Their good batting depth will likely be tested today

Research is too time consuming for superstars :uakmal

Batting depth is their only saving grace, any other team with 4 down this early would have already been out of the game. I can see Islamabad getting to a decent total but 200 looks unlikely now.

They must be thinking Rohail is a donut delivery guy. :uakmal

Nothing going right for Shadab post injury break.

I think he needs this phase of his career. Forces him to work hard on his batting and bowling both and come back stronger, especially with Qadir breathing down his neck.

The last time he was going through a bad patch, he worked hard in the nets and in BPL and ended up becoming MVP at PSL 5. He’s a smart one too and I’m sure knows exactly what he’s doing wrong.

He’ll be a starter at the T20 world cup, that much I am sure of.

Around 170 from here would be considered a decent recovery. Unless Hasan Ali bowls one of those spells, it would be difficult for IU to defend that.

If this phase of his career is still going on at that time, then why should he be?

Imam with some red bull moments on the field today. Not sure why red bull havent started sponsoring something like top fielder of the day segment. Or even Gatorade or any other local energy drink for that matter. :smith

I scrolled through the squads.

Out of 18 Platinum contracts, just 6 are bowlers (including Shahid Afridi and Wahab Riaz). Teams need to own bowlers a bit more.

IU don't seem to have gotten their combination right. Batting lineup needs rejigging, Shadab and Faheem came out too early.

All-rounders normally at 5, 6 or below.

Phil Salt is such a waste of space. Haven't ever seen him score more than 20 ever. Don't know how his t20 stats are so good.

Agreed. Have mentioned it myself quite a few times before that better balance needs to their in terms of overseas batting and bowling talent. This will allow more emerging and local batsmen to get oppurtunities and provide bit of a better mix I believe. Franchises have been generally preferring overseas batsmen and local bowlers.

Shadab is fast becoming into another loud mouthed nonperforming captain. Very unlikeable

The pathetic promotions for Shadab and Faheem has proved costly. Sucked the momentum out of the innings and their dismissals meant that Hales had to slow down when he was looking really good.

Every ball seems like a runout is going to happen.

Asif Ali will come in at no 8. :misbah

Batting depths of IU and PZ are extremes.

He was in awful form well before his injury too.

True, his performances in international cricket since 2019 have dipped overall. Players do get through phases but it high time for Shadab to come out of it.

Talat really needs to up his game against spin. Became bunny of Shamsi in SA series and now Mujeeb takes him

PSL 2021 | Match 10 | Peshawar Zalmi vs Islamabad United | 27th February | Karachi | Match Thread

Islamabad going too hard here and in process gifting the match to Peshawar already. A shocker!

IU should play for 150 here and if things look decent by the 17th, 18th over they can push further.

Asif can hit but issue has been consistency and shot selection

Decent interview given by mountaineer Mirza Ali here

Asif used to bat at no. 5 or no.6 during Dean Jones era, but now is being shunted down at 8 in favor of Shadab and Fahim who look out of sorts against the newish ball.

It's not a rough phase for him, it's like he's forgotten how to bowl. Successful players keep adding new stuff to their bowling whereas Shadab has been at a standstill since his debut. Now the batters have been treating him with disdain. As a batter, he has never been a technical textbook but relies on his hand eye coordination and the lack of development of basics of batting has been costing him.

Oh I just realised

The great finisher of Pakistan is batting
