Peshawar Zalmi [122/4] cruise to 6 wicket win over Islamabad United [118/10] in PSL 6

Sensible stuff from theses PZ batsmen.

Milking the singles and waiting for any loose deliveries.

Peshawar 25 runs behind where Islamabad were at this stage. If only they had focused on trying to play the 20 overs instead of hitting out in the 14th, they might have made 20 or 30 more and this chase would look very different right now.

Cadmore has batted well here , another useful innings by him , making sure his team gets those two points

Agree likes of Asif Ali think only hotting 6s matter.

This has been fantastic bowling by Fawad, he gets his reward

Had enough of sitting on the bench watching Malik and TKC blocking :)))

Haider just reaffirmed the position of PZ in the match with 10 off 2 balls

Opening pacers doing well and Shadab finding decent lengths are the only positives for IU

Umar Akmal has a 100 on debut in NZ .

Umar Akmal is not = every young player. So cant judge everyone based upon Umer Akmal. On a side not still averaged 35 in test cricket when he last played test at 21 years of age.

There are many who did well initially were found out , and were only left in history pages.

Nothing wrong with Umar Akmal talent it was his head that let him down, so if Haider Ali also does not mature qith experience then you can compare the two,but for now he is showing glimpses of improvement wvery game in term of shot selections.

Justcrazy also what exactly are the domestic bullies doing in PSL. Not many have performed yet.

So you are saying Umer Akmal got found out at 21 years of age averaging 35 in test cricket? :smith

Hasan pumped up and showing some aggression towards Haider. :srt

Shoaib ruined Haider’s innings here, should have let him his natural game against this irritating Hassan All.

Love this aggression from young players against each other.

Yes , Umar was talented but he lacked temperament, Haider clearly has the same issue. If he keeps failing , I do not think selectors will persist with him. He needs to work on his shot selection and work soon.

A bit cringe to watch, the games way out of your reach why scream like that, the guy you got out just slaughtered your attack to a point of no return.

Zalmi won by 6 wickets (with 17 balls remaining)

A good win by Zalmi here , Zalmi is now top of the chart here with six points.

Agreed and I dont think anybody has debated that. He obviously needs to work on his shot selection but, just because one player couldnt grow out of young taking on the world zone, doesnt mean everyone cant. Will be worried if Haider doesnt refines his game by when he is 23, 24. Its too early to say domestic bully or comparing him with Umer Akmal.

Hassan is a kind of bowler who can get wicket at any stage of the game, Pakistan need to preserve himby rotating him .

Agreed. Really hope he remains free from any serious injury for rest of his career.

Hassan pumping up the generator after getting a 20 year-old kid out with Peshawar needing 3 from 22.

A lot of people expected IU to win here , including me , I am really impressed with the way Zalmi has done so far , though they have some glaring weakness in their team , the way they have done so far , they likely to go far here

I am not saying everyone, but it's just my opinion, we all have different opinions. We will see what happens in the future.

This Iftikhar guy is pure banter! he fills in well in the absence of Umar Akmal. What a hilarious cricketer I must say

A four-wicket haul from Wahab Riaz led Peshawar Zalmi to a comfortable six-wicket win over Islamabad United in the 10th fixture of the HBL PSL 6 at Karachi’s National Stadium on Saturday.

This was Zalmi third successive win in the HBL PSL 6.

Zalmi’s captain, Wahab, took full advantage of putting Shadab Khan’s men into bat as he dismissed Paul Stirling (one off two) in the first over. Phil Salt (nine off 11, one four) and Faheem Ashraf (two off four) were next to join Stirling in the pavilion with scorecard reading at 41 for three in the sixth over.

Alex Hales, was the only batsman to put up resistance, with the top-score of 41 off 27. The top-order batsman from England smashed five fours and a six.

The United batsmen failed to counter pace bowling spells from Wahab – who returned a brilliant four for 17, his best figures in HBL PSL history – and Saqib Mahmood, who took three wickets for 12, as they were bowled out for 118 in 17.1 overs.

Zalmi were off to a wobbly start as both openers Imam-ul-Haq (0 off three) and Kamran Akmal (three off four) were back in the hut by the end of the second over for six runs on the board.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore and Shoaib Malik knitted a 60-run partnership for the third-wicket. The former top-scored with run-a-ball 46. He smashed four fours and two sixes.

Haider Ali blazed 36 at a strike rate of 200 and smoked three sixes and as many fours, which helped Zalmi chase down the total with 17 balls spare.

He contributed a 47-run stand for the fourth wicket with Shoaib (29 not out off 30, one four, one six).

For United, Hasan Ali took two wickets for 14 in four overs.

Scores in brief

Islamabad United 118 all out, 17.1 overs (Alex Hales 41, Hussain Talat 22; Wahab Riaz 4-17, Saqib Mahmood 3-12)

Peshawar Zalmi 122-4, 17.1 overs (Tom Kohler-Cadmore 46, Haider Ali 36, Shoaib Malik 29 not out; Hasan Ali 2-14)

Player-of-the-match – Wahab Riaz (Peshawar Zalmi)

Umar Akmal is the cleanest hitter of the cricket ball.He ruined his career due to his attitude.Pakistan management/coaches is not very professional which has ruined careers of many cricketers.

Have seen Umar Akmal hole out to the boundary fielders numerous times, that is not the sign of a reliable consistent clean hitter. Yes he might be able to hit the odd great six here and there but players should recognize their limitations that they are not reliable hitters and they need to find other risk free ways to score runs.
