[PICTURE] Bangladesh dressing room glass door broken in Colombo [Video footage inconclusive #63]

This happened during the 2016 World T20 in India. I'm sure you remember that Bangladesh had an epic choke in their game versus us (with Mushfiqur and Mahmuddulah at the helm). In particular, Mushfiqur started celebrating before the end of the game and was lambasted for that from Raina among others.

Fast foward to the semi-finals when West Indies beat us fair and square and this is what he posted. Immature to put it mildly, downright sour grapes and thick to state it as a fact.

Ah, yes. I remember that from Mushfiqur. That was idiocy of the highest order and what you do will always come back to bite you in the near future.

Oh yeah LOL I remember now.

Thanks.

Sohan reveals angry exchanges with Thisara

During the hotly contested virtual semifinal between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka where Tigers’ clinched the game with a six by Mahmudullah Riyad in the penultimate ball of the innings, there were images that had attracted the attention of the rest of the world during a emotionally charged moment of the game after captain Shakib Al Hasan had intervened to try and call off the batsmen in the final over of the game.

The raucous events transpired after the umpire had failed to signal ‘one-for-the-over’ to bowler Isuru Udana in the first delivery of the last over. The bowler proceeded to bowl another bouncer and Mustafizur Rahman was once more beaten and he ran himself out trying to get Mahmudullah back on strike.

Nurul Hasan Sohan had entered the pitch with water during those chaotic moment and he got involved in a shouting match with Sri Lanka’s Thisara Perera. Sohan had to be restrained physically and was lectured by vice-captain Mahmudullah Riyad during those moments and at the end of the match Kusal Mendis had to be restrained a calmed by Tamim Iqbal as he went after Sohan.

Sohan, upon returning to Dhaka today revealed what was said between him and Thisara Perera.

“I entered the field of play and was talking to Riyad bhai before I asked the leg-umpire whether the first delivery was a bouncer.

“At that time Thisara came and told me “who are you to talk? Go from here, you don’t have to talk”.

“I told him that I wasn’t talking to him. It was at that point that he verbally abused me. I told him that it was none of his business.

“Maybe I should have kept quiet. In the heat of the moment maybe I replied to him. That was what the event was,” Sohan revealed.

Lankan Players behaviour in that match was absolutely Pathetic. I'm glad that our boys put them to their place. All power to the tigers.

But I don't see any fines or sanctions by ICC to SL players ..Contradicting your statement (:shakib)

SL players were within the imaginary line as per referee and ICC on that day :ashwin

Shakib Al Hasan broke dressing room door in Colombo: Reports

In the recently concluded Nidahas Trophy, played in Colombo, there were some unsavoury scenes in the do-or-die clash between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium. In a contentious decision with the game posied evenly late on, Shakib Al Hasan called back his players at one point after umpires failed to call a no-ball for a second bouncer in the over by Isuru Udana. As things transpired, Bangladesh went on to clinch the game with Mahmudullah Riyad sealing Sri Lanka’s fate with a match winning six off the penultimate delivery of the game.

Things didn’t just end there. Certain players clashed instead of the customary and traditional handshakes thus undermining the spirit of the gentleman’s game. Tempers withstanding, the glass door of the dressing room was broken. CCTV footage remained inconclusive as to who caused the damage, but reports in Sri Lanka suggest Match Referee Chris Broad spoke to the caterers in the dressing room to find out the guilty person. The caterers have reportedly informed Broad that Shakib was behind the destruction. As per eyewitness account, also relayed to Broad, the Bangladeshi captain had forcefully pushed the door causing the damage.

Broad later handed a 25 percent fine to Shakib and one demerit point. Shakib had pleaded guilty to the charge of “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”.

Bangladesh reserve player Nurul Hasan, who was sent to the field with a message from the dressing room, was also involved in a spat with Sri Lanka skipper Thisara Perera. Nurul pleaded guilty to unruly behaviour and was also fined 25 percent of his match fee and awarded one demerit point.

Broad in his ruling said, “I understand that it was… tense and an edge-of-the-seat match with (a) place in the final on the line, but the actions of the two players were unacceptable and cannot be condoned as they clearly went overboard. Had the fourth umpire not stopped Shakib and the fielders remonstrating, and then the on-field umpires not intervened between Nurul and Thisara, things could have become worse.”

Did they say he smashed a door by pushing it? Sounds pretty hard to smash a door just by pushing it and not getting injured yourself. Maybe they meant he used a cricket bat or a sledge hammer???
