[PICTURES] Does Mustafizur Rahman have anything to offer apart from T20 cricket?

Has had a poor series, but is still young and will learn from this experience.
 
And one of my Bangla bro, here on pp posted that he's like Wasim Akram. But, not as pacy as he was. Lol

Indian players in particular know all of his tricks now because of IPL.

Combine this with unresponsive pitches which dont suit his bowling.
 
Never rated him. Mediocre bowler who had 1 good season and faded away. Won't be surprised if he is dropped from the team.
 
He had has injury so is bowling at max 135 KPH as oppose to 140. His slower balls as a result have become ineffective.

Plus, there has been noticeable change in his action.
 
Bloody hell, the naysayers here are forgetting he's coming back from major injury and is still young.

Give him time for goodness sake.
 
He is young and this will help him improve. One bad tournament does not end a career unless its on PP where everyone is a selection expert.
 
When he took few wickets in his first year of cricket these Bangalis were going overboard to suggest how he is the best young bowler to have ever adorned the cricket world and way ahead of Amir and the likes and some even suggested that how he is on his way to be even better than Wasim Arram. There were many blokes on different forums who suggested let him play a couple of years and then see how much he is able to maintain, something we say for any new cricketer who does well at the onset of his career. We all know how much of things go with a cricketer once he creates some ripples with his performances, people notice him, read him, plan against him and the guy himself goes through injuries, the comebacks, fame handling and he has to deal with all of that positively and unfortunately only gifted few are able to cope up with these things and that's why they have a name in the cricketing world but the Bengalis wouldn't take any of that and were just hell bent on declaring him as the legend after just few games. The Bangali team has only just started to feel and learn a little bit of cricket and their supporters have already in their words have made all their cricketers a revolutionary legend. Such ignorant, unaware and incapable heads.
 
I used to read comments of people when Fizz was going through his peak comparing him to Aamir and most of them used to say Fizz is better, which was laughable tbh. There is a difference between a fast bowler and a guy pretending to be a fast bowler, it might sound harsh, Fizz is a smart bowler no doubt but will always be mediocre and never rated among the best in the world.

The amount of goodwill Aamir gets even though he hasnt been amongst wickets since his comeback, just listen to analysts from all over the world, viv, lara, chappel, dravid, ganguly, bmac, shaun tait, morrison and you can tell how much the cricket world still believes in him. Aamir has ptsd and it can clearly be seen how much stress he has been under with the weight of expectations, returning after 5 years and half the country expecting you to fulfil your promise and the rest still abusing you. Look at his runup and delivery stride and you can tell he hasnt recovered.

Taskin Ahmed has much more potential when compared to Fizz

The emergence of Hasan and comeback of Junaid is the best thing that could have happened to Aamir, soon you will see him at his best again.

So stop that twitching for second and let's put this in perspective

Yes, he has tons to offer, he is and will be a tremendous ODI bowler, and a very good Test bowler to boot.
 
Mustafiz is a good bowler but nothing extraordinary. He looks more like a Chaminda Vaas type bowler rather than Wasim Akram.
 
I have never seen him bring the ball back into the right hander, looks one dimensional with his cutters and changes of pace. The more batsmen face him, the more they get used to him.
 
Fizz is an extremely overrated bowler. He can't seam or swing the ball and doesn't have any pace either.

He has a rubbish seam position which is why he can't Seam the ball. Even spray gun taskin has a better release than him.

He'll only get worse from here on. His code has already been cracked and he'll never be as threatening as he was during the first couple of months of his career.
 
was subpar but most bowler struggled bowling in the 2nd innings. Starc, Rabada, Amir...they havent run through lineups whilst defending targets. Fizz bowled in the 2nd innings in 3 of the 4 games. his was decent the one time he got to bowl first.

He is a very good bowler and one bad tournament is not the end of the world. This Champions Trophy has been a weird one for bowlers, a lot of quality pacers like Rabada, Starc and Boult have not done very well, while mediocre ones like Junaid are having the time of their lives.

its not weird at all. Junaid has been one of the very few who has been able to extract something out of the pitch especially with the oddball. If Junaid can get his pace back to 2013 levels he will be back in business.

He's still a good bowler but his line and length wasn't as good.

He shouldn't use too much variations in the ODI format either - only towards the death.

All of the big names bowlers that I mentioned are far more capable than Junaid.

Not just that. Playing so much cricket in such a short span with his young and fragile frame was the stupidest thing BCB could let him do.

yes they are but fact is Juanid is the only one among the names you mentioned has been able to move the ball hence no surprise he has the best output its not due to luck or anything.

Pls stop. He's played only one match in this year's ipl. Workload or extra pressure has got nothing to do with his recent failure. Fact is He has been found out and he'll go the mendis way from here.

If he had listened to mashrafe and withdraw himself from this year's ipl it wouldn't have made any difference what so ever. He still would've been thrashed around in champions trophy.
 
He's smart so is capable of making a comeback but I really don't see how he's gonna be the best bowler even in his team, let alone in the World. Needs some more tricks up his sleeves and focus on basics.

I don't want to say it but he's really just a rich mans Tanvir.
 
He is not a fast bowler.. he is a wrist spinner who can bowl faster than normal spinner.. his cricket career is over just like Ajantha mendis:fizz.. sorry dear bangali brothers but thats the truth.
 
I dont like how Pakistani supporters are quick to call Bangladeshi cricketers mediocre and poke fun. This is the same country that supports Pakistan. Dont make enemies!

Now its all on him to keep learning new skills and put in the hard work.

things don't look good for him, but heard from news he is still fighting mentally with his injury concern which is playing big role in his mind in the game so far, I guess he needs long break from national duty, get some peace of mind then try to figure out himself what to do! and how can get back to his rhythm! He is not done that is for sure.

So Junaid was crucified for having one bad ICC tournament (CT 2013) by you for the last four years, but now that a non-Pakistani over-rated bowler has had a bad ICC tournament then "one bad tournament is not the end of the world"

He is still a good bowler but never had swing to pick wickets.Most of the time he relies pick up wickets by bowling slower off cutters but I think teams have figured out his off cutters and pitches were not suitable for his kind of bowling.

He is so young and skilfull. He would have learnt a lot from this tournament. He was unlucky that he got injured when he was about to play some first class cricket in England.
Love watching him bowl.

Pitches are not suitable for swing you know very well and kagiso is more skillful than mustafiz he has pace swing height he is complete bowler on the other hand mustafiz in past mustafiz picked most of the wickets by bowling offcuters .He never was a swing seam bowler.

Not been a great tournament.

But what i realized was that his action has been changed dramatically post injury which is not helping him

It's not that his cutters are bad but his line and length is off. If he reverted to his old action which he should he will be able to fix his line and length.

He bowled well in Lanka and in the Ireland tri series mind you. Difference was that he bowled good lines.

He was brilliant in 2015, in the World T20. He was the best bowler on show in the 2 series BD played before CT. Had a poor series in the CT. Also he had to bowl 2nd in most of the games. Flat wickets didn't help him either
 
Guys even if he bowls 140

It's not like batsmen can't play 140 this isn't the 1990s,He is just a bad bowler that has been exposed,can't even swing the ball

Mustafiz so far has done a lot more in his short ODI career than Junaid has. He obviously deserves more leeway.

Saw him for the first time in depth, and have to say, quite disappointed. I was excited to see a new fast bowler who can cause problems in these batting friendly pitches. Maybe he will get better in future, but from the current sample, quite average.

Thank you for pointing that out to this guy. Mamoon has a hard time keeping track of our own bowlers and their performance but the first to point when things aren't going great for Pak.

Please compare their individual performances. Junaid doesn't even have a 5-fer. Winning a series is a function of the team, not an individual.

So you compare bowlers using their individual performances and batsmen like Amla, ABDV by their achievements? Any particular logic behind that?

Amla and de Villiers play for a very strong team that is always one of the favourites on paper. Bangladesh have improved a lot but they are still not at that level. Mustafiz cannot be judged with the same lens as the two said batsmen. It is not right to discount the good performances of a player playing in a relatively weak team because of the team results.

I didn't know 5-fer was the only measure of success when it comes to bowling. Not taking wickets at crucial time obviously. Keep talking.

I repeat. Mustafiz has done more in his short ODI career than Junaid has in 6 years. Junaid is a mediocre bowler who is going through a purple patch. Looks like people have forgotten how rubbish he has been since 2014, and how many games he has single-handedly lost for his teams.

I don't think I have the energy to help your ignorance. Please take a look at the top quality performances that Mustafiz has produced; cricket is played outside Pakistan as well. And yes, he did destroy India and SA.

Junaid won two series singlehandedly? That would be news to many people, including Saeed Ajmal.

I like Junaid now that he is taking wickets, but only in a post-truth world could you claim that he has
has achieved more in his career than The Fizz. One averages 29, the other 19.

If one bowler could ever have been said to win an ODI series singlehandedly it is The Fizz in his debut
against India.

I don't recall if you were a fan of Wahab's, but I think it would be fairly common sense to judge a bowler
by the number of wickets he takes? Since when did this become controversial?

What a response... I don't understand how these things go unnoticed. Not to forget, Junaid was bowling against a World Cup champion Indian team and an ATG South African lineup not an Indian B team.

That World Champion Indian team was past its prime. Tendulkar was dropped and he subsequently announced his retirement, and Sehwag and Gambhir were liabilities by that point - that team was over the hill.

India got rid of the deadwood and brought fresh faces, and they went on to win the Champions Trophy.

As far as the SA series is concerned, Junaid did not set the world on fire. The first ODI was won by the debutants Anwar Ali and Bhatti, while Junaid bowled an excellent last over in the second ODI defending, it does not tell the full story.

Shehzad gave Pakistan a competitive total by playing the ODI innings of his life. In response, de Villiers played a blinder but as usual, left the scene without finishing the job. The momentum of the game shifted with his dismissal, and although SA only required 35 in the last 6 overs, they were not able to find more than 5-6 runs in an over.

Both Junaid and Ajmal bowled (chucked) very well in tandem. In fact, it was Ajmal's penultimate over to the choker Amla that killed the game. He was playing a customary meaningless ODI knock by batting at a SR of 74 in a 45 over game, and he scored only 2 runs in that over that completely put SA on the ropes.

Chasing 9 in the last 6 is not difficult and you will back the batsmen 7/10 times, but the situation was different because the momentum was completely on Pakistan's side. Junaid still had to bowl well, but the way he is praised for that over is as if he snatched a victory from the jaws of defeat and SA were on top till that point.

As I have explained, that was not the case at all.

Is Mustafizur Rahman just a one trick pony?

I have been hearing a lot from Bengali fans how apparently Mustafizur is the second coming of Wasim Akram and is the best current bowler in the world.

But honestly he has only one special delivery the offcutter- which to be fair is his stock ball and is bowled atleast 4 times an over. To me, he lacks pace or variation. Sooner rather than later, I have feeling bangladesh will look past him.
 
He needs to focus on conventional seam /swing bowling and use cutters as surprise delivery.
Otherwise he will be forgotten just like Ajanta mendis.
 
When Mustafizur got the title of The Fizz internationally, I distinctly remember I wrote here on PP that I find Mustafizur to be the most overrated bowler in international cricket. But people said that Mustafizur is one of the top 3 bowlers in the world and is better than Amir even. His bowling has zero variety except for a slower ball and an off cutter.
 
He has a record comparable if not better than Hasan Ali in LOI . Not sure there is any problem.
 
Bangali team should look to groom more talented bowlers.

The 2 Abu's would be good for their team Abu Zayed and Abu Haider, they did well in the Bpl, maybe they'll bring Bangali team out of the minnow territory in Twenty20.
