[PICTURES] ICC WT20 | Pakistan Women beat India Women by 2 runs (D/L) [POST #320]

I'm having a real love-hate relationship with our running between the wickets :))

The idea of rotating the strike is good. The execution has, however, varied from excellent to abysmal!

Look, if that's the only reason, then a simple fix is for anyone who has this opinion to merely ignore the women's games. But to downright say women shouldn't play? That's a bit too extreme, wouldn't you agree?

Off-course if women want to play it is their right and nobody should stop them.

Do the monsoons know that it's not June yet?

Pakistan women's team is 2 runs ahead. well doin rain well done :srini

The funny thing about that bowl out was Pakistan fast bowlers were coming and bowling phaast in the bowl out and missing everything while Uthappa and Sehwag were hitting the timber:))

Aren't 6 overs the minimum?

Nope it's 5 overs.

"This is done only when the side batting second cannot continue its innings due to the interruption and has completed atleast 20 overs (ODIs) or 5 overs (T20s)."

Lol bad memories. If it goes to a Super Over, the memories of the World T20 2007 Bowl-Out will haunt them. :srini

Good for BCCI. :srini

You're holding us at match point.

I refuse to believe that we can come back from a set down.

Not really, Pakistan haven't done anything to possibly get India scared.

Meanwhile...an excellent game between women teams of India and Pakistan is on

Meanwhile...an excellent game between women teams of India and Pakistan is on, right now.

Good crowd turnout in Delhi. It's a close game. Currently, Pakistan winning on D/L because of the rain interruption. Pakistan needs 20 runs off 24 balls, with 4 wickets in hand (chasing 96). They are waiting on the rain to stop.

It should be noted that Pakistan women didn't even get a warm-up game because of their late arrival. It will be a big achievement if they defeat the hosts in this game.

Yaar its dark now call off the game now and hand over the victory to Pakistani ladies already :srini

"6.42pm Heavy rain has subsided to a drizzle. However, the cut-off time is 6.50pm, which is under 10 minutes away. The drama fails to cease. Tough to see this game resuming." - Cricinfo

"6.50pm We have reached cut-off time but still no update."

:hamster:

Pakistan wins. The streak is over. Poor crowd. Disgraceful BCCI. BYE BYE

Brave Pakistani ladies have won against India in world cup before this as well. Ladies beating the men once again. We should be proud of them.

Match over! Pakistan Women win by two runs. This was going right down the wire.... Still, some wonderful shots played by Pakistan and then of course some mind-blowing fielding by India. They jumped right back into the game in a space of two deliveries. Not to forget a couple of great catches.

Today's game just made me realise what crowd can do. With it being quite nosy it seemed like a thriller of the highest order. I was like shouting at home at the Pakistan batters each time they took a risky run:)).

I heard there were like 7000 people in the ground to watch the match? This is some big crowd for a women match!

Imagine if Pakistan hadnt chocked against westindies...we would have had 1 foot in the semis already! :(

I must mention '92 world Cup - because that's what how roll - that rescued point due to rain against England.

Expect Pakistan ladies to win the cup now.

Rain ended a spirited fightback by India to leave arch-rival Pakistan victorious by two runs on the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-hit Group B match of the ICC Women's Twenty20 in New Delhi on Saturday.

Pakistan, chasing India's modest 96 for seven, suffered a dramatic collapse to slide to 77 for six in 16 overs when heavy rain ended the keen tussle between bat and ball at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

Pakistan had made a steady reply, reaching 48 for one in nine overs before the dismissal of Sidra Ameen for 26 turned the tide.

Pakistan lost five wickets for 29 runs, three of them in the space of six runs, before bad weather left India ruing its own batting failure.

It was Pakistan's first win from two Group B games, having lost a thriller to the West Indies by four runs in Chennai on Wednesday. India had defeated Bangladesh by 72 runs on Tuesday.

The 'big match' pressure appeared to tell on the Indian batters after they were sent in to bat by Pakistan captain Sana Mir.

The Indians managed just 34 runs by the 12th over for the loss of three wickets, including their skipper and star player Mithali Raj who made a scratchy 16 off 35 balls.

Veda Krishnamurthy lifted the total with a defiant 24, the only Indian batter to cross 20 in the face of steady bowling by Pakistan.

Five bowlers claimed a wicket each with player-of-the-match Anam Amin giving away just nine runs, Asmavia Iqbal 13 runs and Mir 14 in their quota of four overs each.

Mir said putting India under pressure from the start was the key to success for her team.

"We have played India a lot and know how well they bat, so it was important to apply pressure from the word go," the Pakistan captain said.

"We succeeded in doing that. Also, since we have won and lost close games in the past, we realised it was also very important to field well. This is the way to go forward."

Mir said the victory will boost the women's game in Pakistan. "This will definitely have an impact because an India versus Pakistan match is watched a lot back home."

Raj conceded poor batting let India down, but praised Pakistan's effort in the field.

"The Pakistan bowlers were very disciplined and they were backed by good fielding," the Indian captain said. "They put us under a lot of pressure.

"We must now win both our remaining matches against England and the West Indies and will be focused on that."

Pakistan beat India by two runs (D/L method)
India 96-7, 20 overs (Veda Krishnamurthy 24; Anam Amin 1-9, Asmavia Iqbal 1-13, Sana Mir 1-14)

Pakistan 77-6, 16 overs (Sidra Ameen 26; Jhulan Goswami 1-14)
