Khyber Pakhtunkhwa U13 beat Southern Punjab U13 by five wickets at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium on Saturday to win the National U13 Catch em Championship.

Earlier in the match, Southern Punjab had scored 156 for nine with wicketkeeper-batsman Fahad Kashif top-scoring with a 47-ball 48. The opening batsman struck five fours.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Mohammad Salman starred with the ball picking three wickets for 20 runs in five overs. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain Ahmed picked up two wickets for 27 runs in six overs.

For his all-round performance, Ahmed was declared player of the final. He was also awarded player of the tournament award for scoring 283 runs and taking 11 wickets in six matches.

The tournament is part of Pakistan Cricket Board’s efforts to identify and develop a pool of cricketers at the junior level to train them to become part of U16 and U19 level.

The tournament included six U13 Cricket Association teams, which were finalised by the national junior selection committee. A total of 16 matches, including the final, were played at different venues in Faisalabad.

At the conclusion of the match, players from both sides were gifted kit bags to encourage them to continue working on their skills.

KPK really is becoming the main cricketing talent hub now for Pakistan. Good to see. Hopefully facilities improve in Balochistan and Sindh in the future and we get more players coming through from those areas.

Let's wait for the age experts to tell us how some of them look 20+.

Saeed Ajmal should be the last person to give away the prizes to these kids. Being a chucker banned by PCB and ICC, would not be a good role model for these kids.

Many of the tournament's matches were played at the Saeed Ajmal Academy Ground in Faisalabad. There's nothing wrong with him being involved with PCB in coaching or other aspects going forward, I doubt he will be telling bowlers how much to bend or not to bend their elbows. Certainly nothing wrong with giving away prizes :29:

What is with this two finger thing. I know it’s originally meant to signal peace but for some reason Pakistani cricketers love doing it for photos.

And the worse thing is that, many of them face the back of their hand to the camera which (at least in the UK) is a swear word, same as the middle finger essentially.

KPK is becoming the powerhouse of cricket in Pakistan. There are very few cricketers coming from Sindh and Baluchistan coming to national squads due to lack of good facilities.

KPK = the future of Pakistan cricket.

It used to be Lahore and Karachi, but now the power-base has clearly shifted.

The peace signal is meant to be the opposite to what they are doing. What they are doing is a swear word all around the world. Someone needs to educate them on this

Looks like they left two of the four kids who performed in the final out. Zulqarnain and Mohammad Salman. They clearly had key roles in KPK winning the final according to the original post on this thread. Why are they not in the camp with the top 26 performers of this tournament?
