[PICTURES] National Stadium Karachi undergoing renovation...

^ I think you have answered your question yourself already.

Renovation work is going well. Will be completed for PSL 4 final as per reports

They should move the PSL final to Lahore or Rawalpindi. This construction isn’t happening anytime soon and it will be a national embarrassment to globally broadcast a match from this excuse of a stadium.

Surprise surprise it’s not finished. Even without the roof Pakistan has the worst stadiums in the world by a long shot. The architecture is awful and looms horrendous.

PCB Chairman, Mr. Ehsan Mani visit to Karachi. Presentation given by NLC/NESPAK regarding development work at National Stadium Karachi.

Another scheme to rip off PCB by the contractors. The stadium is never gonna be completed. The longer they drag the project the more money they make.

Man they are so incompetent. They can’t even put a roof over that ugly structure and we were expecting them to completely renovate the stadium. What a complete farce!

I was told that they are 'working on the roof' and that it's expected to be in place by the end of the month. Doesn't sound too believable.

Pathetic. They have literally done nothing besides taking the roof off. The level of inefficiency in this country truly befuddles me.

Shambles.

What have they actually been doing recently. The stadium looks a mess.

Need to outsource it. Pakistanis In General are incompetent and lazy and can’t follow direction.

Honestly sack all the men and bring pakistani women. They are strong, intelligent and hard working.

I wouldn't be surprised if they stop renovating the stadium with the excuse of keeping the 'original features' and 'preserving the history' of the stadium.

Year 2050
Chairman PCB Mohammad Hafeez: "First of all I would like to say thanks to all mighty Allah that the stadium is near completion. Just the roof has to be added on. Insha Allah stadium shall be blessed like I was in all 3 facets of the game"

The PCB is the gravy train mafia. They have no interest or care for PK cricket- let's see if IK and Ehsan Mani can destroy this mafia.

Better start on the overtime if this stadium is going to be ready for the PSL final.

If they don.t have money why did they even bother to start it.the least they can do is improve the infrastruture of multan stadium which will cost very least and is still in very good position

“The roof has been constructed in such a way that fans can enjoy the Karachi sunshine during day time and moonshine (no pun intended) during the nights. They also get the unique opportunity to rain dance and feel it when their prayers are being answered by the rain Gods”.

PCB should put some meat on the bones and attract professionals. It looks like the work has been assigned to some local contractor.

There should be a NAB investigation on the renovation work on this stadium. Just like the Sindh JIT report has proven, we have a lot of Mir Jafars who don't care about the economic and water emergency in the country, corruption needs to be made a capital punishment offence.

The plan for the roof seems to be similar to Chennai's Chepauk stadium:

This gave me the giggles :rp

Huh? He shouldn't be getting praised nor criticised. This has been in the works long before he got the job.

The roof has not made any progress since last year...feels like some private contractors git given money to do nothing.

I do not know about PCB finances - but could the stadium be adopted by Pak cricketer or raise funds as it seems to be one of the old stadiums of Pak......

The frames of the roof have been installed in the enclosures of National Stadium Karachi including Jawed Miandad and Naseem Ghani, ARY News reported on Monday.

The roofs will be installed after completion of paint on the frames. A multimedia company of Malaysia will send its engineers to install the Teflon Fabric roof.

The installation process is expected to start this week and will take approximately 20 to 25 days for completion.

The chairman box A and B have been merged and converted into a hall while the renovation work in media boxes is in final stages.

The main building of the stadium is also being painted, while new windows in the building will also be installed in the coming days.

It merits mentioning here that National Stadium Karachi will host five matches including the final of the upcoming fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The renovation of the historical cricket stadium started at the end of 2017 and got partly ready for the final of PSL 3 on March 25, 2018.

Finally. The PSL games are only a couple of months away. Hopefully the installation is completed as quickly as possible.

Teflon sheets are being installed on the roof of the National Stadium of Karachi as part of the renovation work being done in the stadium ahead of the scheduled Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches.

The renovation process of the cricket stadium has kicked off.

A team of engineers from Singapore have started the renovation work which will be completed before the PSL matches in the provincial capital.

The sheets will be installed from the Javed Miandad enclosure to the Naseem-ul-Ghani enclosure in the first phase. The second phase of the reconstruction will be done from the Hanif Mohammad enclosure to the digital scoreboard.

The National Stadium will be the first sporting venue in Pakistan to have roofs made of teflon sheets.

The sheets are said to fireproof and waterproof and can last up to 25 years.

A worker lost his life in National Stadium Karachi, he was doing paint in general enclosure

But the security of workers should also be prioritized.

This is what I wrote back then. Can’t believe they are playing with people’s lives like that.

ISLAMABAD: Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani said on Thursday that Karachi will stand out as the “Cricket City” during the upcoming season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The title was given to the city during a meeting on Thursday wherein Shallwani was briefed about PSL’s fourth edition which will take place from February 14 to March 17.

The T20 tournament will span across Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi in the UAE leg, before moving to Lahore and Karachi for the final eight matches.

A statement released by the Deputy Commissioner of the Karachi division said that Karachi’s National Stadium will host a total of five matches, with the first to take place on March 7 when the Karachi Kings will take on the Peshawar Zalmi.

The other four matches will see the Karachi Kings against the Quetta Gladiators on March 10, Qualifier 1 against Qualifier 2 on March 13, Eliminator 2 on March 15 and the final on March 17.

The Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore will host the Lahore Qalandars when they go head to head with the Islamabad United on March 9. It will then be the Lahore Qalandars against the sixth team on March 10 and Eliminator 1 (3 versus 4) on March 12.

In order to ensure that the PSL season remains a success, the commissioner said that images of cricket legends will be displayed across different parts of the metropolis during the length of the tournament.

“Special measures are being taken to make the PSL matches successful and memorable,” Shallwani said. “The surroundings of National Stadium and different areas as well as roads and intersections of the metropolis will be decorated.”

With the help of former test cricketer Sadiq Muhammad, the commissioner said that measures are being taken to live stream the matches in different parks of the city. “Such live streaming would be arranged at about 10 parks where cricket lovers can watch PSL matches,” Shallwani added.

Roof is half done after a year? Really sorry to see this. No way will it be done or be safe by time PSL final or group games are played

This started in January, so it will, It just took forever to start the process.

50% roof complete but waiting for more Teflon fabric from Germany. Taking too long this work.

Some should be held accountable for this incompetence. Its been going on since forever.

Only a Quarter of the roof left to cover, seats are done, stadium should finally look good after so long.

Dont know if white roof was a sensible choice. It will get dirty pretty quick in that part of the world.

It's made of teflon which is considered highly weather-resistant to both climates. Teflon roofs are generally used in many big football stadiums around the world so I guess PCB has atleast improved NSK to some extent, even if it has taken this long.

How do you run out of Teflon? The level of professionalism is truly amazing in our part of the world... Couldn't they hire one guy to actually calculate the amount required rather than sitting down and drinking tea for weeks on end waiting for Teflon to be delivered from Germany. OOOf....:dw:dw

Crazy. Four enclosures will be roofless as they ran out of Teflon after ordering twice. Now it won't reach in time because of flights not coming.

Planning doesnt exist it seems

In the end they are going to make tickets for those enclosures 30% cheaper due to their incompetence at organising any back up plans. And what do you know, they've already ordered twice!

Anyone else worried they're a long way from finishing the interior part of the stadium, and I realise it's more-so for VIPs and the media but it shows the lack of emphasis on scheduling and deadlines.
