PTV beat HEC by an innings to register fourth win​


Pakistan Television (PTV) bagged their fourth victory of the President’s Trophy Grade-I as they beat Higher Education Commission (HEC) by an innings and 94 runs on day three of the seventh round at the KCCA Stadium, Karachi on Friday.

Following on, HEC resumed from their overnight score of 42-1 and were bundled out for 152 in 35.2 overs. Ali Hamza Wasim matches his first innings half-century with a 57-ball 50 inclusive of eight fours and one six.

For PTV, Ali Usman collected four wickets for 32 runs, while Mohammad Mohsin picked up 3-29 in five overs. Muhammad Shahzad dismissed two batters.

Test batter Abdullah Shafique struck his 10th first-class century as he scored 107 off 253 balls with the help of 11 fours and one six against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) at the NBP Sports Complex.

Eshaal Associates folded for 270 all out after resuming their first innings from 208-6. WAPDA’s Aqib Khan bagged a five-wicket (5-82) in 26 overs.

With a 121-run lead, WAPDA finished the day three with 200-7 at stumps on day three. Skipper Khalid Usman chipped in with a valuable 66 not out from 99 balls inclusive of nine fours.

At the State Bank Stadium, Ghani Glass resumed their first innings from overnight score of 272-5 and went onto notch 435 all out in 117 overs. No.5 batter Ali Razzaq, who scored his maiden first-class century, contributed 162 runs off 254 balls with the help of 20 fours and two sixes and was instrumental in helping Ghani Glass reap a 165-run lead.

For SNGPL, Mohammad Waleed picked up four wickets, while Rahat Ali bagged three. In turn, SNGPL were 154-4 in 44 overs when stumps were drawn.

At the UBL Sports Complex, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) need 90 more runs to win with seven wickets in hand after they finished day three with 140-3 in 43 overs.

Earlier in the day, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) were bundled out for 165 after resuming from overnight score of 70-1. KRL’s Shahid Aziz (6-57 and 4-63) completed his maiden first-class ten-wicket match haul, while he was aided by Arshadullah, who took three wickets.

Mushtaq Ahmed's six-wicket haul leads OGDCL to win​


Nine wickets in the match by OGDCL’s Mushtaq Ahmed, which included a six-wicket haul in the second innings to help his side secure a 29-run over KRL in the seventh round match of the President’s Trophy Grade-1.

At the UBL Sports Complex, chasing a 230-run to win, KRL lost seven wickets for 35 runs to get dismissed for 200 in 62.1 overs. Mushtaq finished with figures of six for 82 from 23 overs, while Muhammad Umar took four wickets for 62.

At the SBP Sports Complex, Ghani Glass defeated SNGPL by five wickets. Chasing 176 runs to win, Ghani Glass achieved the target in 35.2 overs. Sharjeel Khan top-scored for his side with a 53-ball 57, which included 11 fours and one six.

At the NBP Sports Complex, WAPDA and Eshaal Associated played out a draw. Chasing a 368-run target to win, Eshaal Associates were 195 for four in 62 overs when stumps were drawn. Opening batter Mohammad Sudais top-scored with a 116-ball 56, smashing seven boundaries. Danish Aziz returned undefeated on 50.

The eighth round will begin from Wednesday, 19 February in Karachi.
