Kamran Ghulam, Sahibzada Farhan and Saud Shakeel score centuries on first day of President's Trophy Final

Kamran Ghulam, Sahibzada Farhan and Saud Shakeel struck centuries for SNGPL against WAPDA on day one of the final of the President’s Trophy Grade-I here at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.

After being put into bat, SNGPL scored 479 for seven in 80 overs. After losing Test cricketer Abid Ali for no score, right-handed batters Sahibzada Farhan and Kamran Ghulam got together and knitted a 214-run partnership for the second wicket.

Sahibzada, who has featured in five T20Is for Pakistan, top-scored for the side, scoring 161 off 206 balls, hitting 22 fours and two sixes. 28-year-old Kamran was the second centurion for his side in the first innings. He scored a 136-ball 101, which included 16 fours.

Saud Shakeel, who has featured in 10 Test matches, and was also part of the Pakistan squad against Australia recently, returned undefeated on 123 off 81 balls, smashing 12 fours and four sixes.

That SNGPL managed to score around six an over in 80 overs was largely due to a quick-fire 44 off 20 balls from Mubasir Khan. The right-handed batter, coming to bat at number seven, struck four sixes and two fours over the course of his innings.

For WAPDA, captain Iftikhar Ahmed and Tahir Hussain bagged two wickets apiece.

Scores in brief:

SNGPL 479-7, 80 overs (Sahibzada Farhan 161, Saud Shakeel 123 not out, Kamran Ghulam 101, Mubasir Khan 44; Tahir Hussain 2-78, Iftikhar Ahmed 2-105)

WAPDA 5-0 (awarded five runs after SNGPL were penalised for a short-run)

another first class trophy for mubasir khan, has gone of the boil since his earlier seasons but has quietly amassed decent all round stats, perhaps going under the radar better for his long term development.

And Coach Misbah wins another trophy for his SNGPL

This tournament was another one of the many PCB has arranged and proved to be of no use. What is point of arranging it when the quality is so poor than people want it to end asap.

So Misbah was asked that while keep bashing the players for not giving importance to First Class Cricket, was the PCB giving it importance by having selectors, to which Misbah mentioned that there were no PCB selectors in the President's cup. Infact, even during the finals, no selector bothered to show up.

Wahab Riaz is the chief selector. He is also the director of the Pakistan sports board.

So if Wahab Riaz is not at his PSB office and not even officiating his role as selector for PCB, than what exactly is Wahab Riaz and his team doing?

There was this bashing of Shanawaz Dhani that he is not serious in cricket

Misbah mentioned that this guy was bowling his heart out and in the final the kind of bowling he did he had never seen such bolwing in his life. But than no selector bothered to show up.

So if selectors are not going to see him, than what?

Test team is picked from PSL.

If the PSL players are injured from tests then the selector picks some players like Mohammed Ali or Zahid Mahmood based on stats alone.

Misbah is living in cuckoo land if he expects a PCB selector to show up in the stadium in Pakistan, without a cushioned seat, AC, couple of peons running around making him tea and a VIP section.

If you want PCB selectors to turn up for FC games they should schedule the games in Dubai or London. Then every official will be there.

This is the Pavilion panel for PSL, a T20 tournament:

Wasim Akram
Misbah ul Haq
Mohammad Hafeez
Azhar Ali

This has to be the most atrocious line up talking on T20 cricket I have ever seen in the history of broadcast
