PTV beat HEC by an innings to register fourth win​


Pakistan Television (PTV) bagged their fourth victory of the President’s Trophy Grade-I as they beat Higher Education Commission (HEC) by an innings and 94 runs on day three of the seventh round at the KCCA Stadium, Karachi on Friday.

Following on, HEC resumed from their overnight score of 42-1 and were bundled out for 152 in 35.2 overs. Ali Hamza Wasim matches his first innings half-century with a 57-ball 50 inclusive of eight fours and one six.

For PTV, Ali Usman collected four wickets for 32 runs, while Mohammad Mohsin picked up 3-29 in five overs. Muhammad Shahzad dismissed two batters.

Test batter Abdullah Shafique struck his 10th first-class century as he scored 107 off 253 balls with the help of 11 fours and one six against Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) at the NBP Sports Complex.

Eshaal Associates folded for 270 all out after resuming their first innings from 208-6. WAPDA’s Aqib Khan bagged a five-wicket (5-82) in 26 overs.

With a 121-run lead, WAPDA finished the day three with 200-7 at stumps on day three. Skipper Khalid Usman chipped in with a valuable 66 not out from 99 balls inclusive of nine fours.

At the State Bank Stadium, Ghani Glass resumed their first innings from overnight score of 272-5 and went onto notch 435 all out in 117 overs. No.5 batter Ali Razzaq, who scored his maiden first-class century, contributed 162 runs off 254 balls with the help of 20 fours and two sixes and was instrumental in helping Ghani Glass reap a 165-run lead.

For SNGPL, Mohammad Waleed picked up four wickets, while Rahat Ali bagged three. In turn, SNGPL were 154-4 in 44 overs when stumps were drawn.

At the UBL Sports Complex, Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) need 90 more runs to win with seven wickets in hand after they finished day three with 140-3 in 43 overs.

Earlier in the day, Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) were bundled out for 165 after resuming from overnight score of 70-1. KRL’s Shahid Aziz (6-57 and 4-63) completed his maiden first-class ten-wicket match haul, while he was aided by Arshadullah, who took three wickets.

Mushtaq Ahmed's six-wicket haul leads OGDCL to win​


Nine wickets in the match by OGDCL’s Mushtaq Ahmed, which included a six-wicket haul in the second innings to help his side secure a 29-run over KRL in the seventh round match of the President’s Trophy Grade-1.

At the UBL Sports Complex, chasing a 230-run to win, KRL lost seven wickets for 35 runs to get dismissed for 200 in 62.1 overs. Mushtaq finished with figures of six for 82 from 23 overs, while Muhammad Umar took four wickets for 62.

At the SBP Sports Complex, Ghani Glass defeated SNGPL by five wickets. Chasing 176 runs to win, Ghani Glass achieved the target in 35.2 overs. Sharjeel Khan top-scored for his side with a 53-ball 57, which included 11 fours and one six.

At the NBP Sports Complex, WAPDA and Eshaal Associated played out a draw. Chasing a 368-run target to win, Eshaal Associates were 195 for four in 62 overs when stumps were drawn. Opening batter Mohammad Sudais top-scored with a 116-ball 56, smashing seven boundaries. Danish Aziz returned undefeated on 50.

The eighth round will begin from Wednesday, 19 February in Karachi.

SNGPL's Abid Ali scores unbeaten 173 on opening day of ninth round​


The ninth and final round of the President’s Trophy Grade-I commenced on Tuesday in Karachi. On the opening day, SNGPL’s Abid Ali completed his 31st first-class century as he scored an unbeaten 173 against Eshaal Associates at the UBL Sports Complex.

Abid’s innings included 24 fours and one six as SNGPL ended the day on 270 for eight in 78 overs. For Eshaal Associates, Asad Raza took four wickets for 54.

At the State Bank Stadium, centuries by Sarwar Afridi (123, 140b, 15x4s, 2x6s) and Raja Hamza (103, 125b, 16x4s, 1x6) helped OGDCL post 361 for five in 91 overs against HEC. For HEC, left-arm spinner Mansoor Ali took three wickets for 97 runs in 27 overs.

At NBP Sports Stadium, after being put into bat against WAPDA, Ghani Glass were bowled out for 286 in 81 overs. Saad Nasim, coming to bat at number six, top-scored with a 135-ball 94, which included 13 fours. Shadab Khan was another notable run-getter for the side, scoring 70 off 113 balls, which included seven fours.

For WAPDA, Akif Javed was the most successful bowler, taking four wickets, while Khalid Usman and Mujtaba Khan took three wickets each.

Mohammad Irfan’s seven-wicket haul helped KRL dismiss State Bank of Pakistan for 119 after they were put into bat at the KCCA Stadium. In turn, KRL were also bowled out in their first innings for 150 in 48.4 overs with left-arm spinner Kashif Bhatti taking four wickets.

At stumps, SBP were eight for no loss in their second innings, still trailing by 23 runs.

Karachi, February 26. On the second day of the ninth and final round of the President's Trophy Grade 1, Abid Ali of SNGPL scored a brilliant double century against Eshaal Associates. He also carried the bat and formed a century partnership for the ninth wicket with Muhammad Ali.
The OGDCL team was bowled out for 431 runs in the first innings against Higher Education at State Bank Stadium on Wednesday. The previous day, Sarwar Afridi and Raja Hamza Waheed had scored centuries.

Fahad Amin took 5 wickets for 112 runs. Mansoor Ali took 4 wickets.

Higher Education scored 231 runs for 6 wickets in the first innings at the end of the game. Mohammad Mohsin Khan scored 99 runs. Ali Hamza scored 59 runs.

Mustafizur Rahman and Mehidy Hasan took three wickets each.

At the NBP Sports Complex, WAPDA were bowled out for 132 in their first innings in reply to Ghani Glass's 286. Ayaz Kalpana was the top scorer with 46 runs. Khurram Shahzad took 4 wickets for 37 runs. Ubaid Shah dismissed three players.

Ghani Glass' team was dismissed for 270 runs in its second innings. Ali scored 55 runs. Khalid Usman took 4 wickets for 64 runs.
WAPDA has got a target of 425 runs to win.

At the KCCA Stadium, State Bank scored 364 for 3 in their second innings against KRL. Aaqib Shah is unbeaten on 122 runs with the help of 12 fours.

Irfan Khan Niazi is at the crease with 95 runs with the help of 4 sixes and 5 fours.
The duo added 183 runs for the fourth wicket. Amir scored 61 runs.

At the UBL Sports Complex, the SNGPL team was bowled out for 346 in the first innings against Eshaal Associates. Abid Ali batted brilliantly and scored 225 runs with the help of 34 fours and a six and did not get out. He also added 128 runs for the ninth wicket with Mohammad Ali.

Asad Raza took 4 wickets for 88 runs.

Eshaal Associates scored 116 runs for 5 wickets in their first innings. Abdul Rahman scored 65 runs.

Abid Ali scores undefeated double century​


SNGPL’s Abid Ali carried his bat with an unbeaten 225 against Eshaal Associates as SNGPL posted 346 in their first innings on the second day of the ninth-round match of the President’s Trophy Grade-I on Wednesday.

Right-handed Test opener’s innings included 34 fours and one six. For Eshaal Associates, Asad Raza took four wickets for 88. At stumps, at the UBL Sports Complex, Eshaal Associates were 116 for five in 57 overs, with opener Abdur Rehman knitting a 148-ball 65, which included six boundaries.

At State Bank Stadium, OGDCL were bowled out for 431 in 111 overs in their first innings courtesy opening-day centuries by Sarwar Afridi and Raja Hamza against HEC.

For HEC, 19-year old Fahad Amin impressed with the ball, securing his maiden first-class five-wicket haul (29-3-112-5).

In turn, HEC were 231-6 in 61 overs when stumps were drawn. Mohammad Mohsin Khan (99, 136b, 14x4s) fell one run short of his century, while Ali Hamza Wasim (59, 126b, 8x4s) scored a half-century.

At NBP Sports Complex, resuming their innings at the overnight score of 18 for three, WAPDA were bundled out for 132 in 28 overs. Ayaz Tasawar fell four runs shy off his half century. Pacers Khurram Shahzad (11-4-37-4), Ubaid Shah (7-0-54-3) and Mir Hamza (10-1-29-2) shared nine wickets between them.

In reply, wicketkeeper-batter Junaid Ali’s 112-ball 55 guided Ghani Glass to finish their second innings on 270 in 58 overs at stumps, setting WAPDA a 425-run target for victory.

PTV and SBP secure spots in the President's Trophy 2025 final

At the end of the ninth round, OGDCL’s Mushtaq Ahmed (4/106 & 5/88) guided his team to a 110-run victory over HEC and SNGPL’s Mohammad Ali (4/47 & 3/60) led his side to a 7-wicket win against Eshaal Associates, while KRL’s Muhammad Awais Zafar (113*) and Imran Rafiq (100*) delivered outstanding performances with the bat to secure a draw against SBP.

SBP to face PTV in President’s Trophy Final

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) qualify for the final of the President’s Trophy Grade-I after their match against KRL at the KCCA Stadium ended in a draw. SBP will face Pakistan Television (PTV) in the five-day final, which will be played from 4 to 8 March at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

In the ninth and final round match, at the UBL Sports Complex, SNGPL defeated Eshaal Associates by seven wickets. Eshaal Associates in their second innings were bundled out for 306 in 75.3 overs. Danish Aziz (92) and Mohammad Haris (55) scored half-centuries for the losing team.

In turn, chasing 108 to win, SNGPL achieved the target in 16 overs, losing three wickets in the process. Abid Ali, who scored an unbeaten 225 in the first innings, returned undefeated on 49 in the second innings.

At State Bank Stadium, OGDCL defeated HEC by 11o runs courtesy five-wicket haul by Mushtaq Ahmed. Chasing 395 to win, HEC were bowled out for 284 in 97.5 overs. Ali Hamza (60, 153b, 8x4s), Mohammad Ali (58, 88b, 9x4s, 1x6) and Mohammad Mohsin (53, 78b, 6x4s, 1x6) scored half-centuries in the losing cause.

At the KCCA Stadium, KRL managed to score 384 for three in 108.4 overs against SBP when stumps were drawn. For KRL, Muhammad Awais Zafar (113 not out, 189b, 9x4s, 4x6s) and Imran Rafiq (100 not out, 160b, 11x4s, 3x6s) scored centuries.

Eshaal Associates have been relegated to the President’s Trophy Grade-II as they finished ninth on the points table.

President’s Trophy Grade-I final to begin on Tuesday

The final of the President’s Trophy Grade-I will be played between State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) and Pakistan Television (PTV) from 4 March at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The five-day final will see the winners bagging a prize money of PKR five million, while the runners-up will grab PKR 2.5 million.

PTV will be led by Amad Butt, while Test cricketer Umar Amin will lead SBP. Both sides ended the group stage with 149 points each from eight outings in the tournament, winning five, losing two and drawing one match each. The final will be played under lights with the first ball to be bowled at 7.30pm PKT.

For PTV, Shamyl Hussain is second amongst the runs in the batting charts with 663 runs from seven matches, with two centuries and one half-century at an average of 60.27. Another left-hand batter Mohammad Taha, fifth on the batting charts, scored 609 runs from eight matches, which included one century and three half-centuries. In the bowling charts, PTV will be relying on Mehran Sanwal and Faisal Akram – both have taken 24 wickets each.

For SBP, captain Umar Amin is leading from the front in batting charts with 571 runs from eight matches, which included two centuries and three half-centuries. Rameez Aziz is another batter for SBP amongst the runs, scoring 551 runs from eight outings, which included one century and two half-centuries.

In the bowling charts, 19-year-old Mohammad Ismail has bagged 39 wickets from eight matches, which include three five-wicket hauls.

SBP will be looking to create a double of trophies in 2024-25 season as they had won the President’s Cup One-Day tournament as well back in October 2024.

Umar Amin the seasoned experienced middle order batsman should be given a proper run in the intl team. He is way better than Tayyab , Kamran and Saud in 50 over cricket tbh.

Amad butt another player who was also sidelined but he is captaining his side really well , he has reached finals twice this year.

Muhammad Shahzad’s hat-trick helped PTV dismiss SBP for 205 on the first day of the final of the President’s Trophy Grade-I at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Tuesday evening. At stumps, PTV were 49 for three in 19 overs, with Niaz Khan bagging two wickets for 18.

Earlier, the five-day final, which is played under lights and with a pink ball saw PTV’s Amad Butt winning the toss and putting Umar Amin-led SBP in to bat. SBP’s opening batters – Imran Butt (89, 136b, 14x4s) and Rameez Aziz (40, 51b, 5x4s) provided an 87-run stand. Once the openers departed, right-arm fast Shahzad took charge, dismissing captain Umar (6, 26b), Fawad Alam (0,1b) and Muhammad Irfan (0, 1b) to complete his hat-trick. He finished with figures of 5-29 in 10.2 overs.

Ali Usman was other contributor with the ball, bagging two wickets for 10 runs in seven overs.

On the second day of the President’s Trophy Grade-1 final at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, PTV’s Muhammad Shahzad shone with both bat and ball. After making an impact with his bowling, he scored an unbeaten 125, helping his team secure a crucial 112-run first-innings lead against SBP.

At stumps, SBP were 37 for 1 in 11 overs during their second innings, still trailing by 75 runs.

Earlier, resuming at their overnight score of 49 for 3, PTV put up a total of 317 in 89.2 overs. Shahzad’s remarkable knock, featuring 14 fours and four sixes, came off just 152 balls. Wicketkeeper-batter Waqar also contributed significantly, scoring 106 runs off 192 balls and forming a vital 123-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Shahzad.

For SBP, Kashif Bhatti, Mohammad Abbas, and Niaz Khan each claimed three wickets.

PTV captain Amad Butt’s five-wicket haul has brought his team tantalizingly close to victory against SBP as the third day of the President’s Trophy Grade-I final concluded at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Thursday. At the close of play, PTV stood at 69 for one after 13 overs, needing just 84 more runs to secure the win.

Earlier in the day, SBP, who began their second innings at an overnight score of 37 for one, were dismissed for 264 in 76.2 overs. Rameez Aziz led the batting effort for his team, scoring a top score of 47 off 97 balls, including four boundaries, while Saud Shakeel added 45 runs off 82 deliveries, striking six fours.

For PTV, right-arm pacer Amad Butt shone with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of five for 84 in 27 overs. Ali Usman and Mohammad Ibtisam supported him, claiming two wickets apiece.
