Musa not afraid to pitch the ball up and bowl a fuller length.

The pitch has no pace or bounce despite Musa bending his back. He is giving his everything

What the confusion earlier, about who was out? Saw it elsewhere too.

When Saad got out , he walked back fast. Omair took off his helmet and looked disappointed. I thought Omair had gotten out because of his body language but it was actually Saad.

Saads second consecutive failure.

It was criminal from Haroon Rasheed to decide that northern will play their home games in Faislabad instead of Diamond cricket ground, Islamabad.

These old hags will ruin Pakistan cricket

This is a Central Punjab home game.

Northern are playing at home in Rawalpindi in their next two fixtures.

They will probably use the pindi stadium anyways when the press box is finished and it is good that the iqbal stadium is used anyways, rather than rotting away like many others the pcb owns

Well the good thing is that trundlers are being exposed as being utterly ineffective.

The spin bowling talent is also being exposed.

Forget the damn stadium.

Diamand cricket ground has got the best pitches in Pakistan. PACE & BOUNCE .

All home matches of northern should have been played here.

Why not use the ground up in Abottabad?

It would actually belong to their region and also has the reputation of having pace, bounce and swing.

We need variety in pitches.

It is part of KPK team

Northen(Rawalpindi, Islamabad and Azad kashmir)

Hammad Azam drops a straightforward catch of Kamran. That can be costly.

Again, this is NOT a Northern home game.

It is a Central Punjab home game, that's why they're playing in Faisalabad.

But yes they shouldn't overlook Diamond Ground.

Yes but it's to the border and suits the name Northern. Surely it's better than Faisalabad. But I guess Diamond would make more sense since it's within the region.

Honestly I feel both Diamond and Abbottabad should be used. Two stadiums which offer a much different sort of challenge. PCB should definitely look to have some matches at neutral grounds if they offer the right variety.

Faisalabad wicket has totally flattened out.

Little bit of grass was left providing early seam bowling assistance, now it's a batting paradise.

Curators incapable of balanced pitches.

I want to see Raza Hassan perform and knock at the door of national team but he really needs to work harder, going at 5 runs per over in a 4 day match in his first 16 overs is not on.

Any type of bowlers can learn from Wasim, Waqar when they played most of their cricket on un assisting, dead wickets and still turned out on top with career averages of 23 odd. Wasim always says even in commentary that when there is no assistance, stick to the basic line and length and dry up the runs.

The system will take 3 years to bed down, but it's laid bare the terrible standard of cricket that our players are playing in their development.

This is the problem with Kookaburra ball - as soon as it goes soft there is nothing for the bowling side.

The Dukes ball should be used internationally as it moves the game along quicker.

Flat pitches plus Dukes ball is the best combination.

Its not that flat. The bowlers are unfortunately very poor. Have we seen them employ a leg side field and just bowl bouncers? Or bowl full and straight at the stumps? Or even set an offside field and hang it outside off?

I’ve seen nothing all day to suggest they’ve tried to build pressure or work on a weakness of a batsman. Really poor state of first class cricket.

Lets not even start on the fitness of these bowlers. The keeper is taking the ball on the bounce in their 2nd and 3rd spells. You’ve got to find a way of getting wickets. Day one, after the initial few hrs always favours the batsman but you’ve got to find a way.

I know its early days but is it too much to ask from PCB to have live scorecards of the non-streamed matches ?

Balochistan are 324-4 vs Southern Punjab but have no idea what is going on in the Sindh-KPK match.

The bouncers aren't really carrying it's sitting up nicely for the batsmen, so that tactic won't work.

Why didn't they give the new ball to Musa. Pace and swing could be the key.

Waqas first ball down leg and 3 bounces to the keeper. The second highet wicket taker of QeA a couple of years ago can't even get it to the keeper on the full.

The bowlers have been poor as well.

Faisalabad is known for dead wickets. We need to invest heavily on pitches, get the best curator and train these malis that we have currently.

Haroon Rasheed ruined the old domestic system, now we are expecting him to implement new domestic system :))

Nauman Ali is the same guy that Nadeem Khan was hyping up as the next big thing last season for Multan Sultans lol. Talent identification really needs to improve.

He's rubbish to say the least. Hopefully some of the garbage will be gone next year.

Pitches are fine. Bowlers need to adapt and filth needs to be filtered out. The days of sadaf Hussain hammad Azam averaging 18 are gone. It will take time but each season will get better

Northern really paid the price for not playing Rauf. Had the chance to take the game away from CP and cause an upset, but poor selection meant the likes of Kamran and Azhar made hay.

Rauf in short bursts would have made all the difference. Still remember how he troubled Kamran in Pakistan Cup.

why not use both with 1/2 of the matches especially in the hotter weather in Sept and October and use the Kookobura in the winter.

Although I did not see the first two wickets, I saw a fair amount of Musa’s bowling today and was genuinely impressed. Bowled with real pace, aggression, and generally also with accuracy with the odd over-pitched ball. Was getting decent bounce off back of a length on a super flat pitch, bowled some good yorkers, powerful slingy action. Also the theory that true pace will be rewarded on these flat tracks proved true today as he was by far the best of the seamers in the game today. However, I am still worried that these tracks are way too flat.

Raza Hasan bowled some good deliveries, but dropped short too often. I am really happy that PCB are live streaming these games!

The pitch is taking turn, but it is slow turn. So hopefully once it cracks up a bit, could get a bit of excitement on day 4/5? Hoping that all these games don’t end in draws...

Nothing batsman like Azeem Ghumman is scoring hundred for fun. Muhammad Abbas is that crap that he can’t get these batsmen out?

Faisalabad, 21 September 2019:

Central Punjab were 369 for five against Northern, thanks to a 235-run stand between Azhar Ali and Kamran Akmal, when the stumps were drawn on the first day’s play of the four-day first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match at Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium.

Coming together at the crease with the hosts on 134 for four, Test batsmen Azhar and Kamran weathered the storm with their centuries and put Central Punjab in a commanding position.

Azhar, not out on 110, hit eight fours in the 204 balls he faced today. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran struck 12 fours and four sixes in his 170-ball 157 before getting stumped off Nauman Ali’s bowling on the third ball of the 88th over, which ended the day’s play.

Northern’s decision to bowl first without contesting the toss paid dividends immediately as Musa Khan’s two quick wickets in the first session had Central Punjab reeling at 85 for three at Lunch.

The 19-year-old struck again in the day and brought a promising 52-run fourth-wicket partnership between Azhar and Saad Nasim (31) to an end.

Raza Hasan and Nauman, both left-arm spinners, were the other two bowlers to tick the wickets’ column by bagging a wicket each.

Scores in brief:

Central Punjab 369-5, 87.3 overs (Kamran Akmal 157, Azhar Ali 110, Saad Nasim 31, Rizwan Hussain, 30, Salman Butt 22; Musa Khan 3-57

Lahore, 21 September 2019:

Omair Bin Yousuf struck his career’s third century and was unbeaten on 133 as Sindh were 254 for two when the stumps were drawn on the first day’s play in his side’s four-day first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi.

Playing his first first-class match this season, Yousuf hit 15 fours and two sixes in the 253 balls he faced.

The 20-year-old opened the batting with Khurram Manzoor and the pair knitted a 130-run opening stand after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s captain Sahibzada Farhan chose to bowl without contesting the toss.

Yousuf was accompanied by his captain Asad Shafiq – who was not out on 68 from 133 balls, which included five fours and a six – when 90 overs were completed for the day. The pair, to date, has put up 120 runs for the third wicket.

Khurram and Saad Ali, who scored 40 and one respectively, were the two wickets to fall on Saturday. Both batsmen were sent back to the pavilion by all-rounder Adil Amin’s off-spin.

The second day’s play at the UBL Sports Complex will begin at 10am.

Scores in brief:

Sindh 254-2, 90 overs (Omair Bin Yousuf 133 not out, Asad Shafiq 68 not out, Khurram Manzoor 40; Adil Amin 2-31)

It's baffling. On what basis are they not playing him?

Quetta, 21 September 2019:

It was a run-fest at the Bugti Stadium as Balochistan amassed 347 runs for the loss of four wickets against Southern Punjab on the opening day of their second four-day first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy match.

Visiting captain Shan Masood would be ruing his decision to bowl first, without contesting the toss, after watching the home team finish Saturday’s play in a commanding position.

Centuries by opening batsman Azeem Ghumman and captain Imran Farhat shaped the day for the hosts as the pair stitched a 181-run stand for the third-wicket after slow left-arm Mohammad Irfan struck twice in an over to reduce Balochistan to 129 for two with the wickets of the opener Imran Butt (66) and Abu Bakar (0).

Imran Farhat, in particular, was in a menacing mood as he raced to his 35th first-class century. The 37-year-old left-handed batsman blasted 17 boundaries in his 118-ball 117 after occupying the crease for 183 minutes.

While his captain was going great guns at the other end, Azeem, not out on 143, went about his business steadily to complete his 10th century at this level. The 28-year-old right-hander has to date hit 14 fours in 253 deliveries during a 390-minute stay at the wicket. He was joined by Bismillah Khan (4 not out) when the stumps were drawn.

Balochistan’s four wickets were equally shared by Irfan and paceman Bilawal Bhatti.

The second day’s play at Quetta’s Bugti Stadium, which is hosting first-class cricket after a long gap of 11 years, will commence on Sunday at 10am.

Scores in brief:

Balochistan 347-4, 84 overs (Azeem Ghumman 143 not out, Imran Farhat 117, Imran Butt 66; Bilawal Bhatti 2-65, Mohammad Irfan 2-71)

All home matches of northern should have been played here.

Any ground that wont be used in a bilateral series or the psl is honestly a waste of money. The pcb saves money using its own grounds.

Sadaf and Waqas the two trundlers opened the bowling for Northern.Musa and Rauf should open the bowling.Haven't watched Pakistan domestic cricket before but bowling looks very poor.I don't believe there are no decent bowlers in Pakistan.PCB needs to be bold and let trundlers go and bring in youngster who have pace.It is better to develop youngster than waste money on old trundlers who will not play for Pakistan

A good strategy should be to let trunders play in the first few games to expose them. They can then be dropped from the rest of the games and promising youngsters brought in.

These players thrived under the older pitches which supported medium pace bowlers.

But they are being exposed on flatter surfaces and with the change in ball.

They will be forced out soon if these performances carry on.

This seems to be a batsman's paradise, so a good opportunity to select some pace bowlers for the national team.

Raza looked a beast at the U19 level, but he lost the drop pretty quickly and his bowling reminds me of Imad, just arm balls with no orthodox spin. Irfan the left arm spinner from S Punjab looks to have something.

Decent short bowling by Musa.

When will Central declare or get bowled out, I want to see Naseem Shah bowl now.
