Islamabad, October 8: The third day of play in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy cricket tournament was highlighted by Bahawalpur’s Muhammad Ammar’s brilliant century, along with five-wicket hauls from Lahore Whites’ Naseem Shah and Multan’s Aamer Yamin.

At the Margazar Cricket Ground, Islamabad, Karachi Blues were bowled out for 477 runs in their first innings against Faisalabad. Danish Aziz top-scored with 155, while Ghazi Ghori contributed 83.
In reply, Faisalabad reached 198 for 4 in their first innings. Irfan Niazi remained unbeaten on 78, and Hasan Raza on 73.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad, FATA were dismissed for 273 runs in their first innings against Multan. Muhammad Sarwar scored 80, Haseebullah 63, and Waseem Khan 53.
Aamer Yamin starred with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 48 runs. Multan, in reply, were 88 for 3 in their first innings.

The first day of the second round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy saw a five-wicket haul and one century as action unfolded across five venues in four cities on Sunday, 12 October.

At the Diamond Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Lahore Whites’ right-arm leg-spinner Mohammad Rameez Jnr picked up his ninth first-class five-for (5-110) as Abbottabad managed 273-7 in 83 overs by the close of play.

Rameez started striking following a 104-run opening stand by the Abbottabad opening batters Shahzaib Khan (74, 161b, 8x4s) and Yasir Khan (56, 99b, 5x4s, 2x6s) and dismissed all top five batters including skipper Fakhar Zaman for a 109-ball 53.

Islamabad romped to 344-5 in 90 overs against Bahawalpur at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi with the help of Sarmad Bhatti’s 10th first-class century (144, 214b, 19x4s).

Half-centuries from Mohammad Hammad Khan (80 not out, 168b, 5x4s) and Raja Hamza Waheed (60, 64b, 10x4s) also proved vital. Hammad also shared a 205-run stand with Sarmad after Islamabad had slid to 130-4.

Peshawar’s Israrullah (91, 171b, 12x4s, 1x6) and Iftikhar Ahmed (78, 84b, 13x4s) struck half-centuries putting on a third-wicket 134-run stand as their team posted 271 all out in 63 overs against FATA at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

No.8 batter Niaz Khan struck 47 off 60 balls hitting nine fours and one six to propel them past 250-run mark. In turn FATA were 60 for no loss in 63 overs at stumps.

At the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar, Faisalabad scored 203-5 in 77 overs with the help of fifties from Atiq-ur-Rehman (81, 118b, 13x4s) and Faham-ul-Haq (51, 174b, 2x4s, 1x6). Sialkot’s Mohammad Ali and Athar Mehmood dismissed two batters each.

Karachi Blues were 49-1 in 10 overs against Multan at close of play on day one and 211 runs behind at the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad. Islamabad, October 13: The highlight of the second day of the second round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Cricket Tournament was Saad Baig's maiden First-Class century for Karachi Blues. Besides him, Umair Bin Yousuf, Hamad Khan, Ali Zaryab, and Rizwan Ali also scored centuries.
At the Marghazar Cricket Ground, Karachi Blues were bowled out for 433 runs in their first innings against Multan. Saad Baig played an innings of 154 runs, marking his first century in First-Class cricket. Umair Bin Yousuf scored 137 runs, and Saqib Khan contributed 54 runs. Faisal Akram took 5 wickets for 113 runs.

Multan had scored 12 runs without any loss by the close of play.
At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Islamabad declared their first innings at 541 runs for the loss of 6 wickets against Bahawalpur. Where is Jahandad Khan? Wasn't he one of the standouts in QeA last season?

Arafat Minhas batted at 8 last match and he is batting at 7 in this one. Not sure how you're going to develop true genuine all rounders by pushing them so low in the domestic matches. Shahid Aziz for example is batting at 8 too and then we ask ourselves why we struggle to produce genuine all rounders and pace allrounders in particular. Jahandad isn't playing while there should be a push to give opportunities Shahid Aziz higher in the order so he can develop his batting and become a genuine allrounder.

Qasim Akram not playing in this tournament seems quite ridiculous too. I get being unhappy with his poor performances in other formats but he has a 45 average in FC. Middle order batsmen too which hardly exist in Pakistan and is only 22 but being disregarded like he's a bum.

I am sure I could comb through the FC and find some more stupid things happening but these stood out to me.

Furthermore, why are players like Hasan Nawaz being taken out of FC games so they can go to some useless white ball camp that won't be any use. IMO he should be playing FC so he can tighten up his defence a bit so if he does face tricky tracks like we saw in UAE, he has some idea on how to navigate it. He seems to struggle being able to rotate the strike and there's an opportunity to help improve that as well.

On the fourth and final day of the second round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Peshawar defeated FATA by 17 runs, while the other three matches ended in draws.

At Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, FATA were set a target of 256 runs against Peshawar, but were bowled out for 238.
Salman Khan top-scored with 73 runs, while Amir Khan claimed 5 wickets for 72 runs.
Iftikhar Ahmed was named Player of the Match.

At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Bahawalpur posted 508 runs in their first innings against Islamabad.

The opening day of the third round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy was headlined by Abbottabad’s Yasir Khan and Multan’s Aamer Yamin as the former struck an unbeaten century and the latter bagged a six-for.

Yasir Khan struck his maiden first-class century against Islamabad at the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad as his unbeaten 173 took Abbottabad to a strong total of 375-4 in 90 overs at stumps.

The right-handed opening batter – who faced 245 balls striking 22 fours and three sixes – stitched a 95-run stand for the fourth wicket with Mohammad Bilal (33, 51b, 6x4s) and a 112-run fifth-wicket stand with Ahmed Khan (55, 73b, 6x4s, 3x6s) as Abbottabad piled on runs.

Faisalabad’s Ali Shan (95, 156b, 14x4s, 3x6s) fell five runs short of his second first-class century after he stretched his team’s innings from 47-6 to 212 all out in 61.2 overs.

For Multan, Aamer Yamin backed up his previous round’s five-for with impressive figures of 15-3-37-6 registering his 11th first-class haul of five or more wickets. In reply, Multan scored to 85-1 in 18 overs by close of play after losing opening batter Imran Butt with just 13 runs o the board.

Abbottabad, FATA, Multan and Peshawar had a dominating day two of the third round of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26, while the game between Sialkot and Lahore Whites hung in balance as action unfolded across five venues in four cities on Sunday, 19 October.

Shamyl Hussain struck his fourth first-class century and second of the ongoing tournament as Islamabad slumped to 228 all out from 109-2, conceding a 209-run first innings deficit against Abbottabad at the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad.

For Abbottabad, Israr Hussain snapped four wickets, while Aqib Khan and Mohammad Adil dismissed two batters each. In turn, Abbottabad were 45-1 at close of play and 254 runs ahead of Islamabad.

Earlier, they had resumed their first innings from overnight score of 375-5 and were bowled out for 437 in 102 overs as top scorer Yasir Khan (185, 260b, 24x4s, 3x6s) could only add 12 runs to his day one stumps score.

FATA pacer Shahid Aziz’s third first-class five-wicket haul (16.2-2-45-5) was decisive in his team managing a 105-run first innings lead over Karachi Blues – who were skittled for 207 in 68.2 overs – at the Imran Khan Stadium, Peshawar. Multan’s batters had a field day against Faisalabad as they built a mammoth 233-run first innings lead with three wickets still intact and Arafat Minhas unbeaten on 82 off 104 inclusive of 13 fours at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Arafat had also frustrated Faisalabad bowlers with an unbeaten 96-run stand with no.9 batter Ali Usman (33 not out, 62b, 6x4s) as Multan closed the day two with 445-7 in 107 overs – after resuming from overnight score of 85-1- in response to Faisalabad’s 212 all out.

Imran Rafiq (70, 128b, 8x4s), Waqar Hussain (67, 114b, 13x4s, Sharoon Siraj (64, 89b, 11x4s) hit half-centuries, while Bismillah Khan scored a brisk 47 off 52 balls hitting four fours and three sixes. Faisalabad Shahid Ali picked up three wickets.

Peshawar were in driving seat at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi at the close of play on day two as they had reduced Bahawalpur to 218-7 in the second innings after managing a 147-run first innings lead earlier.

Mubasir Khan (64, 93b, 7x4s) and Saad Khan (61, 111b, 9x4s) scored half-centuries keeping Bahawalpur afloat in the second innings with a 110-run stand.

Bahawalpur then lost 29-4 following the century partnership before all-rounder Muhammad Imran and no.9 batter Mohammad Junaid arrested the collapse with an unbeaten 21-run stand, stretching their second innings lead to 71. Iftikhar Ahmed had figures of 3-42 in 17 overs.

Peshawar had earlier added 153 runs to their overnight score of 125-5 taking a valuable lead with the help of useful contributions from skipper Mohammad Haris (70, 115b, 9x4s), no.8 Niaz Khan (61, 47b, 9x4s, 1x6) and no.9 Sufyan Moqim (37, 22b, 7x4s, 1x6).

At the Diamond Cricket Ground, Lahore Whites (235 all out) managed to eke out a slander 13-run first innings lead over Sialkot with the help of a 77-run ninth-wicket stand between Haseeb-ur-Rehman (40, 58b, 5x4s) and Mohammad Abbas (37 not out, 80b, 6x4s), while Saad Nasim and Tayyab Tahir scored 36 and 33, respectively.

Sialkot’s Mohammad Hasnain returned bagged figures of 14-3-42-4 in his maiden first-class appearance since July 2022. He was assisted by fellow pacers Athar Mahmood (3-47), Mohammad Ali 2-64 and Amad Butt (1-54) in restricting Whites’ lead to 13 after they had resumed from overnight score of 38-2 earlier.

At Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi, the Bahawalpur team was all out for 261 runs in their second innings. Saad Khan and Mubasir Khan scored half-centuries. Iftikhar Ahmed took 5 wickets for 52 runs.

Peshawar was set a target of 114 runs to win, which they achieved for the loss of 2 wickets. Aamir Burki scored 71 runs and remained unbeaten.

At the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Karachi Blues were set a target of 296 runs for victory but the entire team was bowled out for only 111 runs. Usman Rahim was the top scorer with 23 runs. Shahid Aziz took 5 wickets for 33 runs, giving him a total of 10 wickets for 78 runs in the match, earning him the Player of the Match award for his outstanding performance.

At the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad, Islamabad was set a target of 524 runs for victory against Abbottabad, but their efforts stalled at 453 runs. Raja Hamza Waseed scored 117 runs. Lahore, 25 October 2025: The day two of the fourth round of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy saw one five-for and four centuries as the action unfolded across the five venues in Abbottabad, Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Saturday.

Sialkot had an impressive day against Islamabad as pacer Athar Mehmood routed the latter with 5-43 to hand his team a 221-run first innings lead at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi. Sialkot finished the day with 50-3 on the board and 271 runs ahead of Islamabad.

Earlier, Sialkot resumed from overnight score of 365-8 and were bowled out for 407 in 100.4 overs as Azan Awais – 99 not out at stumps on day one – completed his seventh first-class century (134, 185b, 17x4s, 2x6s).

In turn, Athar removed two batters for ducks and two for single digit scores, while Mohammad Hasnain and Mohammad Ali too chipped in with a scalp each to leave Islamabad reeling at 50-6.

Sarmad Bhatti (82, 120b, 13x4s) and Jawad Ali (20, 65b, 3x4s) halted the collapse with a 59-run stand, while Haris Rauf contributed 28 off 39 balls (4x4s, 1x6) as Islamabad finished 186 all out in 52 overs. Athar’s second first-class five-for figures read 12-0-43-5, while Mehran Mumtaz picked up 3-28 in 16 overs.

Faisalabad had a field day against FATA – courtesy opening batter Hasan Raza’s 174 - where they took a mammoth 301-run first innings lead and then reduced them to 10-2 in six overs before close of play at the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad.

Resuming from overnight score of 127-0, batters Hasan Raza and Faham-ul-Haq (78, 151b, 10x4s) stretched the opening stand to 245. Hasan brought up his sixth first-class century and second in the tournament fetching 174 off 247 balls hitting 25 fours and two sixes.

Following Asim Ali Nasir’s half-century (67, 83b, 11x4s) and Atiq-ur-Rehman’s 58-ball 48, Faisalabad stumbled spectacularly as they went from 394-2 to 462 all out with none of the batters apart from top four entering double figures. For FATA, Akif Javed and Arshadullah snapped four wickets each.

Bahawalpur’s skipper Saifullah Bangash led from front as he struck 119 not out – his fifth first-class century – to help his team post 501 all out in 140.1 overs after resuming from overnight score of 276-5 against Multan at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad.

Saifullah – unbeaten on 24 overnight – shared a 124-run stand with Muhammad Imran (75, 88b, 8x4s, 4x6s) for the seventh wicket. For Multan, Kashif Ali picked up four wickets, while Mohammad Ismail and Ali Usman dismissed three batters each.

In reply, Multan were 111-2 in 30.5 overs with Waqar Hussain retired hurt on 49 off 80 balls hitting six fours and in a 390-run deficit.

Karachi Blues were bowled out for 424 in 110 overs as skipper Rameez Aziz registered his ninth first-class century after they resumed from overnight score of 326-5 against Lahore Whites at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

Rameez was 77 not out at stumps on day one and fell for 102 off 170 balls hitting 10 fours and one six. Mohammad Usman Rahim (52, 92, 5x4s, 1x6) and Danish Aziz (51, 59b, 8x4s) struck half-centuries, while Lahore’s Ubaid Shah and Haseeb-ur-Rehman picked up four wickets each.

In reply, Lahore Whites were 215-2 in 56 overs at stumps – and 209 runs behind Karachi - courtesy fifties from Umar Siddiq (86, 99b, 15x4s) and Ali Zaryab (76 not out, 162b, 7x4s).

The third day of the fourth Quaid-e-Azam Trophy round happened to be a moving day as Faisalabad came back to winning ways, while Multan, Lahore Whites, Sialkot and Peshawar frustrated their opposition bowling attacks piling on runs on Sunday.

Faisalabad’s pace trio of Asad Raza (4-16), Jahandad Khan (3-18) and Afaq Afridi (2-15) skittled FATA for a mere 58 in 20.4 overs to help their team bag a thumping win by an innings and 213 runs at the Marghzar Cricket Ground, Islamabad.

Resuming their second innings from overnight score of 10-2 and a trail of 291 runs, FATA lost wickets one after another as only no.4 batter Mohammad Wasim Khan (18, 31b, 4x4s) could enter double figures.

The Faisalabad pace trio had also shared eight wickets among them in the first innings too, combining to take 17 wickets in the match as their team bounced back from a 10-wicket drubbing against Multan in previous round.

Multan’s batters had a productive day as no.3 Imran Butt and no. 9 Aamer Yamin struck centuries to help their team post 462 all out in reply to Bahawalpur’s 501 all out at the Diamond Cricket Ground, Islamabad. For Bahawalpur, left-arm pacer Mohammad Azab (5-130) registered his fourth first-class five-for.

Imran (113, 207b, 11x4s) struck his 16th first-class century, while Yamin (100 not out, 87b, 14x4s, 1x6) hurried to his fifth first-class century. Imran shared a 166-run second-wicket stand with Waqar Hussain (57, 94b, 8x4s). Yamin frustrated Bahawalpur bowlers with a 147-run eighth-wicket stand with Bismillah Khan (49, 85b, 3x4s).

A brisk eighth first-class century from Tayyab Tahir (108, 117b, 17x4s, 2x6s) and half-centuries from Ali Zaryab (91, 182b, 9x4s) and Umar Siddiq (86, 99b, 15x4s) helped Lahore Whites gain a meagre 32-run first innings lead as they posted 456 all out in reply to Karachi Blues’ 424 at the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium.

After Lahore Whites resumed from overnight score of 215-2, Ali and Hussain Talat’s (57, 97b, 7x4s, 2x6s) 53-run stand came to an end bringing Tayyab to the middle. While the next four wickets fell at regular intervals, Tayyab bedded in at 350-7 with Mohammad Abbas (31, 53b, 3x4s, 2x6s) to gather 83 runs and crucially got their team ahead of Karachi.

Islamabad required 361 more runs to win against Sialkot as they finished the day three with 107-3 on the board in 32 overs at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium, Rawalpindi.

Islamabad’s wicketkeeper-batter Rizwan Ali was unbeaten on 45, while Sialkot’s Mohammad Hasnain, Athar Mehmood and Mohammad Ali had taken a wicket each.

Earlier, Sialkot declared their second innings at 246-7 in 63 overs after resuming from overnight score of 50-3. No.5 batter Ayaz Tasawar (84, 133b, 9x4s, 1x6) top-scored with a half-century, while Islamabad’s Kaleem Dil snapped four for 67 in his 19 overs.

Abbottabad were 10 for no loss in 3.5 overs in their second innings at stumps on day three requiring another 452 runs to win against Peshawar at the Imran Khan Stadium, Peshawar. Earlier in the day, they were bowled for 181 in 69.4 overs in their first innings after resuming from 159-6 overnight, incurring a massive 267-run deficit.

In reply, Peshawar plundered 194 runs in 39.4 overs for the loss of one wicket to set a 462-run target. After Muhammad Amir Barki (35, 46b, 7x4s) departed at 76, his opening partner Waqar Ahmed (100, 119b, 12x4s) registered his sixth first-class century.

Waqar also put on an unbeaten 118-run stand with Nabi Gul (52 not out, 73b, 5x4s, 2x6s) before the declaration call came from skipper Mohammad Haris.

He is very good against high pace and bounce and can play spin well , it’s the swing and seam movement he is not that good yet but that can change and in ODIs and T20s there is hardly any swing or seam movement after initial 6/8 overs , pretty sure he will do well there.

Azan is more like Imam ul Haq 2.0 , he definitely is mentally strong and can play long innings but hasn’t got the power game against either pace or spin.

Our domestic cricket actually harms batter than develop them , if we find a talented young batter who perform in one season then we must fast track him and let him develop in the international cricket setup , there is a high chance that he will either sink or swim , that’s the only way to develop batters for us because we no longer send our young batters to county cricket which can help them grow as a batter in near international level pitches and coaches.

This season we are seeing batting friendly tracks with low bounce next season we might get underprepared wickets, you can’t develop a batter by let him play in conditions which he will never face in International cricket infact you are just training him to get good on pitches he play at domestic cricket.

No that's not the case. If domestic is showing you talent it means that the domestic Cricket works. It's not ideal, but it still works.

The players you mentioned has only performed in home conditions. Our domestic cricket doesn’t prepare players for SENA at all.

The talented players which we produce in last few years are Haider Ali , Saim , Hasan , Haris and unfortunately all of them sank in international level but when they back to domestic cricket they are hitting tons for fun which shows you the problem.
