[PICTURES] Suresh Raina calls Pakistan besharam (shameless), then deletes tweet and blames nephew

Embarrassing loss when your own team is gettting kicked out of super 8s since 2009. Height of Bagairati on your side, keep it up!

We always had shameless performance in T20 but when all time fav. Pakistan lose like this is a bigger disappointment.

I fail to understand why Pakistani members here are so offended by this. There is no reason to be this sensitive over a tweet, perspective people!

Even if Raina did knowingly post the tweet, this is exactly the reaction he and a few other Indians would have wanted; to rile up Pakistanis. Simple solution to this would be to take it with a pinch of salt, and move on, not give it much thought. This sort of reaction only outlines an insecurity. Don't let what others think consume you.

Not really besides his tweet suggested shameless, perhaps Hindi is hard for you to grasp just like Raina can't grasp the short ball. :)

He's supposed to be a professional not a amateur even though his batting suggests this sometimes.

You haven't seen anything yet, wait till June the 15th at Edgbaston, hope he brings plenty of tissues with him. :)

When you have 6 wickets left and margin is just 10 runs more, you expect your team to cruise toward victory not play Blindless coming down the wicket shots.

You are talking about being mature, pay attention a little on their lips when they are on the field. Every single one of them sledges with filthy mouth. Getting upset by harmless tweet is quite soft for Pak fans and players.

Still not shameless. Forgot your whitewashes in Australia and england, and that t20 against Australia? Whats more shameless than this. Raina is a top bagairat, no doubt.

You clearly have no clue to how the pitch was playing. Regardless of how the performance was or not for a professional cricketer to tweet this against another nation shows he is an immature clown.

It's silly to equate the behavior of fans to professionals. He is going to get the biggest abuse of his life in Birmingham next year and it will be fully deserved. :)

It's slightly amusing that you talk about bringing tissues when there is so much crying being done in this thread. :P

By the way, what's on June 15th? Slightly out of the loop.

Crying? lol I'm glad he has done this as it gives me more value for my ticket next June. Google it and find out.

Well replied. I think some of these lot dont know what Besharam means.

Good luck with that! Take banners with you! :D Btw. he has done well in recent ODI series vs England in England.

Like I said earlier in post, Raina is a softie! That's why you saw him deleting the tweet and telling it was his nephew. If he really meant that tweet, he would have neither deleted or blamed it on his nephew. So, I won't be surprised if he is indeed telling truth.

What if Raina doesn't play? Can I have your ticket?

Then any Indian will do. :D

Good luck with that! Take banners with you! Btw. he has done well in recent ODI series vs England in England.

I don't think banners will be allowed in and luck is not required only vocals. I remember the 2004 match up at Edgbaston, Indians outnumbered Pakistan fans but couldn't compete at all.

I guess indians rather beat you guys on the field than just talk about it. but you are welcome to keep shooting your mouth off while your team keeps losing on the field. That's how we would like to keep it.

You need to check the statistics, Pakistan have a superior head to head record.

The point is simple, if he can give it then he should expect to take it. Pakistan fans will really have a go at him. Raina has shot himself in the foot, he will be abused even more. This is exactly why professional sportsman take the abuse without trying to hit back and especially not in a cowardly way on twitter only to latter pretend it was someone else. lol

How did your Semi-final go?

Oh wait....

Thats right you didn't make it that far, infact you never make it that far..

Ab chup karke yahan say kut lo.. shaba foran say..

Last time I checked we are the WC champions and we did go all the way. I am sorry your team cannot figure out a way to beat us, but please continue to croon all you want. All that matters is what happens in the game. Nobody cares what some random guy in the crowd is chanting. I just care that we beat the crap out of you everytime we see you in any meaningful tournament.

I never said you shouldn't mouth off. Please do so. It is your right as a fan of your team. And yes, Raina was at fault for saying the crap that he did on twitter. No doubt there. I said so as much in an earlier post that he should just shut up and play cricket.

Pakistan has superior win loss record against India..yes..they won the most number of battles..but at the biggest stage when the world is watching..the Pakistani team gets scared..completely owned by the Indian team.. The Pakistani team fans can take solace by the win loss ratio but the fact remains that India has won a WC in every format the game of cricket has been played in..60 over, 50 over, 20 over..Pakistan is yet to match that.. and while the win loss ratio is 2:3..at the biggest stage it is ..let me calculate..oops..my calculator says cant divide by ZERO :yk

Those taking comfort in reaching the semi finals..make no mistake..you would have the bragging rights IF you won the cup..just like in 1992.. but not winning the cup and losing to India...

just like Indians were in denial when they said at least they beat Pakistan..but secretly they would be jealous if Pakistan won the cup..some Pakistanis are in denial that by being the losing semi finalists..and getting beaten by their nemeis..they did better than India..

Not winning the cup + losing to India <<<<<< not winning the cup + beating Pakistan..

PS: the above was for those whose self respect and ghairat depends on their team winning...who are bursting with self esteem when their team wins..and have a self esteem the size of a pea when their team loses..

for the rest..self respect and ghairat is independent of a team losing or winning..it depends on what YOU do, what YOU achieve..

In other words , he is saying Pakistan has more sharam because they were kicked out a couple of days later ? :danish

English is a funny language..shameful and shameless basically mean the same thing..but sound like opposites..:jf

Suresh Raina [ Images ] created a furore on a social-networking site when he called Pakistan "shameless" before deleting the offending tweet and clarifying that it was a prank by his nephew.

"Ek do din late gaye ghar !!!! Woh bhi besharam ki tarah Gaye... Bye bye Pakistan!!!!" [they went home a couple of days late, and that too shameless] read a post from Raina's Twitter account on Thursday, referring to Pakistan's ouster from the World T20 after their loss to Sri Lanka in the semi-finals.

Raina apologised on Friday, saying his nephew used his phone to post the message.

"Smart phones r dangerous. Discovered it last night after my nephew posted random tweets. I'm a sportsman and would never disrespect," he wrote.

"Though I already deleted it, I felt its better to clarify. To all those who r upset, I'm sorry. I'm not one to show disrespect," Raina added.

Users on Twitter were quick to spread the message, with several Pakistan cricket fans condemning the Indian all-rounder's action.

if it's a honest mistake, which it sounds like it is, we should just forget it and move on.

...and India media call Pakistani delusional

Knowing Raina's attitude on field and his previous tweets, I see him as a softie! He literally jumps on players and try to hug them all the time! He pulls their cheeks and what not! :yk When you see behavior like this, one assume that he is a softie! Even his interviews are soft spoken and always humble. Raina must have had most tweets praying Sai Baba! That's why I said if it wasn't him, who tweeted, then I won't be surprised. Had Kohli, Gauti or even Yuvi tweeted that, I am sure they actually meant to troll! :D But from Raina ... it's a surprise.

That is very unprofessional from Raina if he is the one who has done it. But Raina is a softy. Look at all his interviews. very soft-spoken. Also there is a video on YouTube where he is very friendly with Kamran praising him after the 2020 practice match. I don't know how to Embed that video but you can search for "Indian team all praise for kamran"
In my opinion raina is not capable of putting such a tweet.

Why such a big deal, who cares about a stupid comment from a mediocre Raina?

Wooooow who cares...all this drama just over a tweet. Who cares honesty. Let him trash talk all he wants. He's jelly!

Raina got the bragging rights to dig on Pakistan after his team defeated them in the tournament :azhar

this is what i get after reading your post to defend your client. "he is a keypad warrior? would be too scared to say it to anyone to their face"

first he needs to learn how to brag, you cant diss someone when they are the reason you didn't get to play in semi final.

he's now apologizing
a quick uturn :afridi

Self-proclaimed power house, India has not played one semifinal match. In fact in the last 3 Super 8's Indian record is......
0-3 - No Semifinal
0-3 - No Semifinal
2-1 - No Semifinal

Wasn't full of sharam Raina part of all those teams?

Raina,
we don't need your apology. Indians are always hate on Pakistani's its a fact. We don't care. We just keep performing even with a team not chosen on merit.

This is poor from Raina. Atleast he apologises but whether he deserve to be forgiven or not is entirely up to the people of Pakistan.

There has been statements like this from Pakistanis too but even those are being condemned by all sane people.

Raina appologised but still doesn't have the guts to admit what he did and instead is hiding behind his nephew.I have no doubt that he is a low life charecter just like our very own paindo Tanno.

And there is no besharme in losing a match, whether its a SF,Super 8 or an Indo-Pak match, its funny how a so call sportsman doesn't know that.

Over 300 replies for this?

LOL!!!!

if Raina was looking for a reaction, he got it.

Whether he posted it or his servant posted it, it does not matter. The guy apologized. Whats the big deal? :afridi

Its a cricket forum, what do you expect? if you don't like it then why are you here?
The guy is blaming his nephew for it, doesn't have the guts to admit and ppl are wondering about posters posting on this topic.Jeez.

I believe Last Laugh was talking about 20/20 cup and you brought up 50 over game. Its the 20/20 game that Mr Raina was talking about too, and he thinks that India failing to qualify was a besharmee.

Raina must have noticed those threads on PakpAssion after India's exit from this tournament...:D ....and those TV shows ..like that one "watch three times atleast" ...haha....:)

LOL .People defending Raina reminds me of fans defending Aamer by saying, " he's so innocenet , he so naive, he's so young, he can never do such a thing".

Lolz we besharam Indians beaten one more team in Super 8....and you forgot to mention that...:P

But that wassn't enough to qualify for semis was it? that was the posters point, if that was then Kholi wouldn't have been crying!

As i said it before, there is no besharme in losing a cricket match, so i will never call Indians by such a name, besharme is in throwing a match or in taken drugs and cheating.

Raina is a softy, he once said Eid Mubarak, he never argues with umpire so he can never say such a thing.Great defence, such a defence should also have been used for shy Aamer, would have escaped 5 years.

This thread still going strong?? ah..but then this is the age of the easily offended..of the over sensitive..of fragile self esteems..of the outburst of outrage to compensate for those feelings...and protect their feeling of self worth..

And you are still here! Shows how much interested you are in this thread!

Way too many Indians on this forum...need to shave off the herd (I kid, I kid :P)

I'm disappointed in the current generation of Pakistan fans. What happen to the rage of 90's...soo restraint, politically correct nowadays...c'mmon this is rivalry! Where are the banters, stingers? Is this how you keep the most fierce rivalry known to any sport alive?

India Pakistan rivalry has been less to do with cricket and more to assert collective dominance over the other country..I don't believe there was much banter..banter is between mature people who see it just as a game..with most Indians and Pakistanis being emotional and carrying historical baggage..it is more enmity than banter..it is too politicized..with events like Kargil and Mumbai attacks being brought into a cricket discussion..not only by fans but also by players.. the Chennai crowd giving a standing ovation to the Pakistanis and the Pakistani crowd being gracious hosts to Indians in 2004 have become a footnote.... grace is slowly leaving the cricketing culture..(assuming that it was there at the first place).. now we see fans going down to the lowest denominator during a cricket match..boorish behaviour is the norm..this is not rivalry..this is insecure people using cricket as a vehicle to let off steam and feel better about themselves..

he apologised.end of matter, duuno why hes still being flamed?:13:

also how r people 100% sure that hes lying, maybe hes speaking truth, give benefit of doubt.its good for ur peace of mind.

What an awsum guy...he apologised for something his nephew did. Indeed big hearts.
A great batsman, a superb fielder and a true sportsman :)

And he even wrote Eid Mubarak, as pointed out by some Indians here, a true legend who can do no wrong, and even if does it then again he have nephews to take all blames.
Nephews certainly have big hearts!

i hope pakistani players will target him on the upcoming serie between india pakistan i hope just gul will gulldoze him with a bouncer on his head

how many of you here believe it was his nephew actually whp posted that tweet??
Very much possible.

With smartphones and all, anyone can post anything from anyone's account. Raina has possibly been careless in that regard, and is paying the price for it.

i hope pakistani players will target him on the upcoming serie between india pakistan i hope just gul will gulldoze him with a bouncer on his head
Gul will be murdered by Sehwag before that and he'll be taken out on a stretcher before Raina arrives.

i hope pakistani players will target him on the upcoming serie between india pakistan i hope just gul will gulldoze him with a bouncer on his head

Gul can't bowl 4 overs economically, then how he going to complete 10 overs against indians. Sadly the new breed of indian batsmen who going to replace Shewags and Gambirs are fearless strokeplayers, like Rahane, Mandeep Singh, U. Chand.

The reason why I find it hard to blame it on Suresh Raina´s nephew:

o9Ztj.jpg

There are two tweets in the above screen-shot. The "controversial" one was deleted and the one about Chennai Super Kings and Champions League (2012) is still there. The gap between the two tweets is that of two minutes merely.

His nephew must be saying, "Oh´ phew, uncle!"

Raina's nephew also seems to have got his uncle's habit of capitalizing words in the middle of a sentence. :-)

Ek jhoot ko chupane ke liye sau jhoot bolna padta hai .....:D

ye kaund sa nephew haiga ....bole to Gaziabad milkar aana padega ...:P

But he apologized Openly and publically that's very good part....:14:

Good Raina.

What an utterly lame excuse. Doesnt have the guts to stand by what he has written.

apology itself is a lie, blaming your nephew for your own stupidity. lol

lol, we have other things to deal with than this guy's stupidity and immaturity

No one cares whether he wrote it, deleted it, or apologized for it

look, im pakistani, but we got this thing where our players behave like thier inferior to indian players apart from shoaib akhtar and arfidi.

i dont like raina, with a passion, but hes out there saying stuff about pakistan is how it should be. hes indians, hes been brought up to hate us, even more so now we talking cricket.

now if someone like Umer Akmal sent a tweet saying bye bye india, maybe ipl 24 might help, id be over the mood, laughing. make my day.

CONTROVERCY IS GOOD

i reiterate, i got no love for raina
and yuvraj
and kohli
and harbhajan
and gambhir

pakistanis need to get some attitude about them

Suresh Raina's nephew speaks out (hilarious ESPN Cricinfo Page 2 article)

Suresh Raina's nephew speaks out

And other declarative statements are made this week

Raina's nephew speaks out
Suresh Raina's nephew has broken his silence. After being accused of having used his uncle's phone to tweet a controversial message taunting Pakistan for being kicked out of the World Cup, the little boy of seven confirmed that not only had he been unfairly set up by Raina, but that Uncle isn't stopping there. "He wants me to take the rap for another tweet he wants to write and quickly delete," said the hapless youngster. "It reads: 'Dhoni needs to give up the captaincy already and grow his hair back for the sake of Indian cricket.'

"Come to think of it, I might be willing to take the blame for this one," he added.

Another cricketer injured by falling kitchen sink
Yet another cricketer has been hospitalised by a falling kitchen sink, adding to the recent spate of such injuries occurring during the course of play. While it's been no secret that the increasing frequency of T20 matches has been responsible for more and more batsmen throwing the dangerous plumbing fixture at the cricket ball in the hopes of sending it over the ropes at any cost, the practice is being criticised as the number of injuries continues to rise. In a recent youth match in Afghanistan, to take just one example, a number of young fielders were almost crushed to death by a communal hand basin. And then there was that unfortunate lady in the crowd in Colombo who copped it on the head with a pink ceramic number sent into orbit by Chris Gayle.

"Instead of throwing the kitchen sink at it, we're asking batsmen to choose something gentler," said a spokesman for the ICC, which is looking to create an awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the dangers of using sinks in the game. "We're telling batsmen to throw the kitchen sponge instead."

Pietersen made to sign ex-offenders register
As part of KP's reintegration into Team England "society", rumour has it that he will be made to sign an ex-offenders register. "The good people who live and pass through the England dressing room have the right to know who walks amongst them," said ECB chairman Giles Clarke. "We will be keeping a sharp eye on him for the safety and well-being of innocent England players who are otherwise not able to fend for themselves." To that end, Pietersen will also be required to keep his distance from mobile phones and will have to wear a finger bracelet to monitor his attempts to text.

Indian fan found bleeding red
An Indian fan who cut himself to see if he was bleeding blue has complained to the company sponsoring India's cricket team that he is in fact bleeding deep dark red. "Why they'd think to suggest otherwise I can only imagine,' said the young man, who is considering suing the company for false advertising.

The sponsor, for its part, has released a statement saying that it isn't their fault if Indian fans aren't bleeding blue, and it must mean that they aren't "passionate enough".

"Either that, or the team just sucks," ended the statement.

Gayle dances on, at own risk
Chris Gayle continued to be dangerously unaware of the risk that "Gangnam Style" might be the new "Macarena", and that he might one day look back on his insistence to perform the dance on the field with deep, crushing regret.

"The signs are already there," said noted dance historian and trend analyst Mark Ramprakash. "The dance is starting to show unmistakable signs of late Macarena-stage decay. The sooner Chris realises this, the sooner he can stop the dance and be less likely to embarrass his future grandchildren," he warned.

Umpires to wear abdomen guards when Finn bowls
Umpires have demanded abdomen guards for when Steven Finn bowls, as a "precautionary measure".

"Yeah, the distance between the stumps and where we stand can never be far enough when Finn bowls," said Asad Rauf, crossing his legs reflexively. "Today he's knocking over the stumps. Tomorrow who knows what it might be. Actually, I know what it might be, and yeah… I'm not okay with that."

Choker's tag officially transferred in ceremony
The Choker's tag was officially transferred from South Africa to Sri Lanka in a ceremony to mark the occasion. After some initial confusion brought about by some latent uncertainty as to whether South Africa had done enough to warrant getting rid of the dreaded label, the tag was removed from the gnarled big toe of Jacques Kallis, the one player still active who was a participant of many a memorable choke down the years, and placed on the fast-withering one of Mahela Jayawardene.

"Yeah, it's fair to say we didn't choke this time around," said a relieved Kallis. "To be accused of choking, you have to have been on the cusp of achieving something before failing at the last gasp," he explained. "Luckily, we were nowhere near qualifying for the knockout stages."

All quotes and "facts" in this article are made up, but you knew that already, didn't you?

Absolute nonsense.

We are not concerned with beating India. We want to have a great tournament and if we manage to beat India on the way it is an icing on the cake.

That is it.

Every single fan would prefer to lose in the semi finals rather than crash out in the super 8's. You can't compare the two.

But looks like you are more interested in having the "We beat Pakistan hahaha" trophy rather than trying to finish the tournament on a high.

We'd take a defeat every single time if that means we'll finish ahead of you in the tournament.

Happy Super 8's once again :)))

At one place you say you are not concerned with beating India..an the next time you say you will be happy if you finish ahead of India..

so indirectly you are judging your success by comparison to India.. but you are avoiding the direct comparison that India beat Pakistan..

nice twist..but you should try harder :yk

No fan prefer to lose in semi finals too especially fans like you who likes to compare with other teams for their success instead of their own teams progress. And you are concerned about staying a head of india rather than winning the tournament hmm nice and behaving like you won the trophy is that what u think?? LOL
Then happy semi finals :))

You ppl are not getting what I am trying to say. Maybe I didn't convey it properly.

Look, beating India is an amazing feeling. Beating no other team gives that much pleasure and we have a taste of this feeling much more than you :yk

But what is the point of beating India if you end up finishing above us?

You beat us but the bottom line is we made it to the semis while you didn't.

I am really not concerned with India but the fact is that every loss hurts no matter what opposition and it hurts most when we lose to India but the fact that we ended up in the semis and you didn't means the loss doesn't mean anything.

And yes I'll take "happy semi finals" over "happy super 8's" any day.

Since IPL started you haven't made it to the semis of the T20 WC :)))
