[PICTURES/VIDEO] Shoaib Maliks's hit-wicket dismissal

In one of those nets session videos I noticed he been going too deep in his crease. It was bound to happen.

On the training thread I predicted that he would get out 'hit wicket' at least once this tour.

Surprised to see how Shohaib was out with all his experience. What was he thinking.? Put a lot of unnecessary pressure on Sarfraz from there on.

Some fools were arguing that he has the perfect technique, back and across...which was either being blind or insufferable fan boy-ism.

In reality his technique is back, across and another unnecessary step back since he is facing Jeff Thompson and Lillee on Perth in 1976.

Excellent innings though - seems to be in good nick. All set for the World Cup

Even after playing for 20 years still always get out in most unusual way.

Malik=unlucky yaar

Unlucky is if you step back onto your stumps. Homeboy was batting so deep in the crease as it is and he was taking a further step back (as seen in the training video) that he was standing in line with stumps, he actually smashed the stump with the middle of the bat.

Horrible horrible technique and highly embarrassing, nobody has ever done this at any level of cricket, except for maybe gullee cricket.

He was doing this in the nets too - PCB sent some videos out and Malik was almost stepping on the stumps.

How not to use depth of crease.

You will see Buttler doing this as well, it's an effective way of nullifying yorkers. Would rather see him hitting the wickets the odd time rather than back away and hack like most of our clueless batsmen.

Pakistan veteran Shoaib Malik reluctantly joined an exclusive club on Friday night, becoming just the eighth man to ever get out hit-wicket twice in one-day international cricket.

Malik, whose first hit-wicket dismissal came in 2003, fell in comic fashion in the fourth ODI against England.

Looking to play a cut shot from way back in his crease against fast-bowler Mark Wood, Malik only succeeded in smashing his own stumps out of the ground. It was an unfortunate end to his rapid 41 off 26.

The 37-year-old can take some comfort from the company he keeps. All-time greats Allan Border and Kumar Sangakkara are among the eight to have fallen hit-wicket twice in ODIs, as is compatriot Misbah-ul-Haq.

Malik’s innings helped Pakistan to a total of 7-340, and made Sarfraz Ahmed’s team the first to have ever posted 340+ scores in three consecutive ODIs, according to statistician Mazher Arshad.

Unfortunately for the touring team, England became the second team to achieve that feat when they chased down the target with three balls and three wickets to spare.

The hosts mowed down a target of 359 in the third ODI and scored 3-373 batting first in the second ODI.

During 2nd or 3rd game, Sarfaraz backed up so much and also away on the leg side, that when he cut the ball, it went behind his stumps between the keeper and the stumps. I was shocked he got away with it. Could have easily hit the stumps with either bat or ball.

I don’t know if they are particularly practicing this sort of batting or what... highly unusual...

Australians are still laughing on this laughing stock Malik. They showed this clip on their sports news.

This guy for all his career has been an embarrassment.

Probably did it on purpose since he scored enough runs to justify his spot in the team.

He's been getting "run out" too frequently and needed to change things up.

That's 20 years of experience right there.

Such a boost for this team.

Good that this happened before the World Cup - so atleast he has time to fix issue

Uptil that time, his innings was giving a real chance of a 350+ score

Pakistan batting is already volatile and on top of that they get out in the strangest of way.
