What's new

[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Chris Jordan: England’s veteran seamer

Brilliant fielder - like truly gun tier.

Reputation precedes him with the ball - he's neither economical nor potent.

Cost England the match with his pathetic over. Yorker specialist couldn’t bowl a yorker to save his life. Extremely overrated cricketer. He is a specialist fielder.

Top level fielder ,amongst the best , batting & bowling is ok level, got found out today along with the overrated Woakes , who is NOT a dearth bowler in T20s & got carted very easily with those test match lines 😂😂

He chokes and cracks under pressure. In CPL 2019 in the Semi finals for TKR against Tridents he choked and got beaten at the death which cost TKR the match. Similar to what happened to England today.

This can happen to Hassan 2morrow

It probably will, but the thing with Hassan is that he’s capable of taking a wicket in his first 2 overs.

He’s the kind of bowler that can be 1-9 in 2 overs and end up with figures of 2-45 after 4.

Which is why I would only give him 2 overs.

Absolutely killed it Just took England back to 90s with those wides completed lost his confidence and distracted his team Morgan and other senior fellas should have guided him England had huge margin it was a complete choke

What is so special about Chris Jordan?

All these t20 specialist bowler are extremely poor and he is one of them.

Oh´ God! Truer thing hasn´t been said on the forum today! What are these T20 specialist bowlers anyway? I so dislike this term. They all get carted around the park at will, these T20 doctors, whenever the need arises for the opposition. I´m so against this idea!

Solid T20 man. Just bowled one bad over.

He is 33 now and when Archer and Mills return will probably not play internationals again.

A very very lucky bowler to keep getting picked by leagues and England

His pace used to help him, but he seems to have lost that and nowadays he's just medium fast and more often than not bowling in the slot.

He’s been awful for a while but had a good game yesterday.

Looking at this list, Jade Dernbach was discarded quite early by England even then he appears as 5th on there to have most intl wickets.

I’m not a statto type, but my guess would be that Dernbach had quite a high econ rate. He was usually expensive.

I was somewhat surprised he played ahead of David Willey or Richard Gleeson tbh.

Another 3 wickets today.

Bit of a resurgence for him.

Jordan back on form this series for England.

See the above wicket. Bowling very well.

Chris Jordan smashed 59 runs off 20 balls with a strike rate of 295 for Hobart Hurricanes against Perth Scorchers in BBL 2023.

One of the finest T20 all-rounders among current active players, I think the ECB should consider him for the ICC T20I World Cup 2024.

Chris Jordan bowling well for MS this season in PSL. His figures in the all important qualifier against PZ were 2/28 after 4 overs.

CHRIS JORDAN HAS A HAT-TRICK

He first ever England player to do it in a T20 World Cup

View attachment 144716

Chris Jordan, after taking England's first-ever ICC T20 World Cup hat-trick, said during the innings break:

"Unbelievable feeling, more importantly to restrict USA and to do it in a special place like this is always nice.

"Been on a hat-trick a few times, nice to get it on target this time.

"I thought Rashid came and controlled one end for us and really set up the game for us.

"We're thinking about the points first and foremost, then we'll look at net run rate."

Way past his best, shouldn't be anywhere near the team. However, he remains the great fielders of his generation

Not withstanding his hat-trick today and his timeless fielding, he along with Moeen should have been put out to pastures years ago, but it seems like England trust their core group too much and to be fair to them, they keep finding ways to win.

Jordan is a good fielder/catcher and contributed one brilliant over today, so including his bit of batting he adds more to the T20 side than Mark Wood. But we could just as easily be talking in a few days about how he bowled a dross death over and cost England a place in the final. I am not personally convinced that he should continue past this tournament.

I have great respect for how he has cultivated a myth around being a death bowler and has stolen a living for the past 8 years.

If people buy the myth it's all good.

He hasn’t even had a proper central contract for years and yet in his mid thirties he keeps ending up back in the team :D Professional blagger but he’s good at it, fair play to him.

Chris Jordan has been one of the best bowlers against India in T20Is

Most wickets against India in T20Is

25 – Ish Sodhi
21 – Chris Jordan
