Nawaz lauds Shehbaz, Maryam for distinguished services to people​


Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday commended Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for their indefatigable efforts in serving the people of the country.

He made these remarks during a meeting with members of the Punjab Assembly, also attended by Punjab's CM, where they discussed the country's overall situation, development, and public service projects.

Pakistan's economy has entered a slight recovery phase, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation easing significantly to 2.4% year-on-year in January 2025, falling from 4.1% in December 2024 and from 28.3% in January last year, as per Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Monday.

This marked the lowest inflation rate in over two years, reflecting easing price pressures across both urban and rural areas. In FY23, it reached over 29%; inflation touched an all-time high of 37.97% in May 2023. However, it has been on a downward trajectory since then.

Commenting on the stabilising macroeconomic indicators, former PM and ruling PML-N chief Nawaz praised his younger brother, saying: "Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is working hard in the Centre", adding that, "declining rate of inflation is a sign of economic improvement."

The economy maintained its positive trajectory in the first half of FY2024-25, with GDP expanding by 2.5% after last year’s contraction, building on the stabilisation achieved in FY2024, according to a Finance Division report released in January.

The State of Pakistan's Economy Half Yearly Report (July-December 2025) attributes the sustained positive momentum to sound macroeconomic management, effective inflation control measures, and improved fiscal and external account stability.

"Inflation substantially declined to 7.2% in H1-FY2025 from 28.8% a year earlier, supported by easing global prices, a stable exchange rate, and targeted government policies," the finance ministry said in the report.

"The rise of the stock exchange is a reflection of the confidence of the business and investor community," the former premier said.

He added: "The increase in the speed of the journey towards development is a sign of the arrival of a positive change". The PML-N chief also expressed satisfaction over "pause in the decline Pakistan was pushed towards".

Talking about the development projects in Punjab, being undertaken by CM Maryam, he profusely praised her efforts.

"Maryam Nawaz is working with the spirit of a mother and daughter in Punjab more than being the chief minister of the province," he said.

Maryam, who was present in the meeting, said "I feel more responsible being the daughter of Nawaz Sharif".

The chief minister added that she has added responsibilities due to the prime minister’s "exemplary public services".

Addressing the provincial assembly members, Maryam told them that their guidance and trust "is the key to our strength and success".

The tradition of the past regarding the quality and pace of public service is being carried forward, Maryam Nawaz.

"We are carrying forward the traditions of the past in terms of the quality and pace of public service," she concluded.

Punjab CM approves scholarships for students from other provinces​

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the Honhar Scholarship Programme for students from other provinces, Express News reported.

During a meeting, Maryam Nawaz, while chairing the session, instructed to increase the number of laptops to 110,000 for students in Punjab and also directed the establishment of a dedicated helpline for the beneficiaries of the scholarship program.

The Chief Minister has extended the scholarship scheme to students from other provinces as well, setting the same eligibility criteria as for Punjab students. To receive a laptop in Punjab, a minimum of 65% eligibility has been set.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the scholarship and laptop program are the rights of every child and the responsibility of the government.

She stated that education and youth development are the real investments for the nation, expressing her desire for every child to receive a laptop.

She added that the scholarship and laptops are also the right of students from other provinces, including Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She further remarked that any student who meets the merit standard should be able to apply to good colleges, with the government covering the fees. "I think like a mother and want to change every child's fate," she said. The criteria for scholarships in Punjab will be maintained for students from other provinces.

She assured that there would be no hindrance in providing funding for any scheme for students. The meeting also approved a one-day VC conference and Tech Expo in Punjab.

She emphasized that Punjab is making historic efforts to combat air pollution, water scarcity, and environmental degradation.

Marriyum Aurangzeb praised CM Maryam Nawaz, stating that she has emerged as a regional leader for environmental improvement.

“She is initiating dialogue with India with an open heart to tackle air pollution, which affects both nations,” she said.

A budget of Rs10 billion has been allocated for anti-smog initiatives, while Rs100 billion has been set aside for climate resilience projects, marking a significant commitment to environmental protection.

Key initiatives for climate change​


Air Quality Monitoring and Control​

  • 30 new AQI monitors have been installed, providing satellite-linked air quality data.

Those students are majority middle class + .

Pakistan does not have free education for children. All kids should be given free education until 16. The laptops were nawaz Sharifs idea years ago, now he prob has masses of bitcoin from the wealth taken out of Pakistan

Im glad something is being about this now at least, this will need a lot of work. Indian side has to do something as well now because of the sheer size of their population and land, they automatically have more responsibility in this matter. Pakistan can only do so much. @Rajdeep @Bhaijaan

We need this.
Unfortunately Punjab is now a Bimaru and backward state in our country due to Sikh politics. We have a dysfunctional government there which has allowed Sikh terrorists who call themselves farmers to hijack our whole growth story putting our state decades behind at a time the rest of our country is making rapid progress. Environment is the last of their concern. It’s all about power and minting tax payers money.

The negativity is unbelievable. Your criticism cannot be taken seriously if you cannot appreciate genuine initiatives. The British should first return the trillions they looted from Pakistan and the country would automatically improve.
 
Probably the Best CM we ever had in Punjab.

Today i went to main saddar, they have closed all entries of cars to the main market and made the whole market walk only. Love it. They have built dedicated parkings aswell.

On Adyalla Road they are making a very long flyover (Imran Khan will benefit from this alot, when he is being delievered to the High Court and than to his return trip back to Adyalla Jail). a very big population of pindi lives in Adyalla, a much needed flyover.

Good stuff by Maryam, I wasnt expecting her to be this good in Punjab, I though they will focus only on Lahore, but it seems like development is being done in whole Punjab.

She is also removing any areas that were encroachments. In Mianwali they removed qabza farmland from govt areas that were dedicated for roads and the road have been built.

Majority of the unviversity students of Paksitan are lower class and middle class. The middle class plus and upper class go abroad for uni education.

Pakistan does have a free education policy for children in govt schools. Govt schools are free

The laptop scheme was one of the best schemes that was launched. Alot of students later did freelance work through it.

I was also able to get one laptop on the merit list and it helped me alot with my university coursework and my first job aswell. Too bad as soon as Imran came he decided to put a stop at the laptops..

Can you discuss the current initiative on merit without personal attacks or diversions? We are on the same team here I hope, on the side of goodwill, humanity and the masses. That's what this initiative is for.

How can you discuss the current initiatives without discussing the criminality of these people such as the tape, not winning elections and staeling billions. So can you explain why she was willing for people to be killed just stop IK getting credit. And let's face it, you would do if your niyaat was clean

Nope. You can't separate her criminality from anything she does. For a example a rapist does become good if they feed a stray dog. She has murdered people and has locked up cancer sufferers. Why don't you explain why she wanted to stop the sehat card.

Punjab govt to rehabilitate people hit by drive against encroachments

The Punjab government will rehabilitate the individuals rendered unemployed during the anti-encroachment drive across the province.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday ordered restoration of small businesses impacted by the government’s anti-encroachment campaign.

She asked the officials concerned to review the measures for the rehabilitation of small businesses and vendors hit during the drive.

“The removal of encroachments is essential for smooth traffic flow. The government’s anti-encroachment drive is not intended to leave the common man unemployed, and no one’s livelihood should be taken away under any circumstance,” she said and added that alternative

spaces would be provided for those affected by the anti-encroachment drive in every city. The arrangements for providing employment to the affectees were being reviewed, she added.

DEVICES: The Punjab government has also launched a project to provide assistive devices to the differently-abled persons in the province.

“Wheelchairs will be provided free of cost to special people deprived of mobility to facilitate their movement. Special hearing aids will be provided to those with impaired hearing,” she said and added provision of hearing aids would increase hearing and speaking ability of these people.

Applications for the assistive devices can be submitted online through portal adwc.punjab.gov.pk, for which CNIC of the person concerned, a form and a disability certificate issued by the District Disability Assessment Board will be required.

I expected all this from imran khan when he become the prime minster on the back of the "NAYA PAKISTAN" slogans but nothing happened.

Then people were saying he needs time to clean up 70 year old mess created by previous parties but when I saw PTI supporters burning busses, building and statues in Pakistan on order of imran khan I realised he's a selfish person and definitely a wrong number.

But funny how mariyum created "NAYA PUNJAB" in a matter of a 1 year coming into power.

Interesting that NS tried that one in the elections except it was a lie. Maybe you are confusing this with the crooked witches sehat card to Switzerland at the poor countries expense. If it was true NS did actually do this why didn't the horrible witch own it and not want chacha to scrap it. A policy that almost certainly killed people.

But the moment you start fact checking him it falls apart. @Bewal Express @mominsaigol needs to argue each case on merit instead of strawman arguments and personal attacks. Your friend humiliated himself this morning by claiming that the Sehat card was NSs idea and then ran like NS when I pointed out something as basic as if you claim it's your idea why would you stop it, to punish the poor. This is the level of intellect and beghairati I am up against. You are welcome to bring any issue you fancy. At least you won't have to pretend like these liars that they aren't paid trolls to promote a murderous family

All I see is @emranabbas debating calmly with facts and you constantly making it personal and getting emotional. Any true well wisher of Pak would be happy with an initiative that benefits Pak. If you are not, then I wonder why...

Nawaz Sharif introduced the Sehat Card in 2016.

In 2018, Imran Khan took the idea, rebranded it with his picture, and presented it as his own.

The Sehat Card still exists today under the name "Health Card," reintroduced by Maryam Nawaz.

This is the problem

I don’t support any political party, but I believe any initiative that benefits Pakistan is a good one. However, PTI supporters seem to have an issue with me for that that reason even though many of them don’t even live in Pakistan.

So you didn't see him threaten me. You didn't see him blatantly lie on where he lives whilst having a go at us for not living in PK, you didn't see him lie against the PTI on the slowing down off the Internet and twitter. You didn't see him run this morning when I gave evidence on election rigging.These are just a few examples. Criminals and their supporters trigger my moral compass. I see it as my duty to humiliate these guys.

So NS came up with sehat card. So here is a few questions. If the card was such a success why did his daughter not own it and not ask the uncle to lie( on tape) and claim the money had run out.🤣🥰🥰🥰


Let's assume it's true. Can you explain why NS ran to the UK for his treatment. If this sehat card was his idea, why not use it as he has claimed he has few assets and is eligible for Zakat. Or even use any hospital in PK. surely after 4 decades there is a hospital in PK that he can use😅😅😅
Then once again explain why like you NS runs away. From Mush to Bajwa, he ran away after NROs. Be a man and don't run off and explain why the guy is a coward and why your own guy told us you stole the elections

First of all, I have no idea what he's talking about his English is that bad. From what I could gather, he's confusing a health card with a treatment, even though they're completely different things. Then he randomly brings up Nawaz Sharif fleeing to London, which has nothing to do with the health card. There's really no point in wasting time with him. Best to use him as toy wind him him and then sit back and watch the show 🤣

By the way, he told @Rana he's a schoolteacher, but judging by his English and reasoning skills, that's hard to believe.

All I remember is, this guy @Bewal Express threw a bunch of supporting murderers accusations on me for supporting a political party even though I have no clue about any Pakistani political party.

I don't follow Pakistani politics and have no clue about its affairs beyond knowing imran Khan since he was an ex cricketers and knowing about nawaz sharif since I've seen him on tv.

But it was something about the fact that I was somehow a supporter of some murder related drama because I'm on good terms with @emranabbas truth be told, to this day I still have no clue what he's on about 🤣.
