Lol well that all changed quickly
Not really. He was signed up as a late addition to cover for Steyn while he was injured. Steyn's back to playing fitness.

Steyn returns as Rauf rubbed out by Stars
Dale Steyn is set to make his long-awaited KFC BBL debut after the South African was named in the Melbourne Stars squad for Friday night's clash with the Adelaide Strikers.
Pakistan pace sensation Haris Rauf has been axed for Steyn's return after regaining fitness from a side strain he arrived with having injured himself playing in South Africa's domestic T20 competition.
Rauf, who lit up the BBL with his rags-to-riches tale having joined the Stars at the last minute from Tasmanian Premier Cricket club Glenorchy, has been dropped despite wearing the BKT Golden Cap as the competition's leading wicket-taker.
In his two games as Steyn's replacement, Rauf took seven wickets, including a five-fer against the Hobart Hurricanes in Moe, and conceded just 5.87 runs per over.

So will he still be able to play for Melbourne Stars in other games or is this it?
He's still with the squad so he may get more chances.
Not true. The English Pat Brown has already joined the squad, he will replace Steyn when Steyn goes on international duty. Haris Rauf will return to the Tasmanian Premier League.
Buddy they ain’t keeping pat brown over rauf he ain’t going nowhere maxwell already said he’s staying
Then makes no sense why Steyn is playing today over Rauf. Surely you cant be dropped after taking a fifer.
Lets see how Steyn does - bowling soon.

Any sign of Haris Rauf playing today?
gun bowler, he is must in our t20 squad
Best T20 pacer Pakistan has right now. No excuses not to play him, not at all. If I'm making a T20 line up for the world cup. He'll be the 1st bowler on the sheet
He’s very very good yes I like him as well. But first bowler on the sheet with zero international experience that’s too early to say. Reason being the Aussie batsman in the big bash league of are really poor quality and I’ve watched the big bash for very long. Most of these guys are just show offs and wannabe cris lynns but they all are very below average players except for a handful. So internationally it’s a total different ball game so I would Play him in a t20 series before making him play the World Cup.
The batsmen might be low quality but Rauf has serious skill.
He is a very good new ball bowler as well.
He should be playing Odi cricket soon.
Just needs to use his slower delivery a little more when the batsmen are swinging hard.
Proper white ball bowler.
Where do Pakistani players find their celebrations from? Is that a throat slit? Even if it is not, it just looks inappropriate.
Don't take limelight away from your bowling mate!
Very cringe celebration.
Wasn’t at his best today, but with that pace coupled with constantly attacking the stumps he’ll always be amongst the wickets in this format.
He took 3 wickets for only 24 runs and 1 or 2 of his appeals were not given despite them being out
So if this is not his best, what is?
He should have taken a 6fer again and gotten a hatrick and bowled out the team in the first 3 balls of the bowler that would have been his best

Pakistani culture. People are like that on the streets of Pakistan. Hopefully the Aussies can tell him that isn't cool.
None of our bowlers in 90s or 2000s had stupid celebrations. Their celebration was a joy to watch. I feel it’s simple lack of education. PcB is doing a poor job at this. Remember Wahab was told by team management to stop the celebration. Hassan ali and imad wanabe ronado are other examples
If you’d actually watched the game you would have known that he conceded a lot of byes, a couple of which went to the boundary because of a leg stump-ish line of attack- largely due to collapsing whilst striving for that extra pace. It was clear he wasn’t in the best of rhythm. He took 3 wickets for only 24 runs and 1 or 2 of his appeals were not given despite them being out

Some random, scattergun thoughts after watching Haris today:
It's great to see him do well in the BBL. If he can slightly tighten up his line he can really go places. He comes across as someone who has pace but doesn't have consistent rhythm. Once he establishes that rhythm, he will be a must-pick for the Pakistan ODI side.
Secondly, it seems that he prefers the old ball (Happy to be corrected on this). Thus he's competing with Wahab, Hasan and Hasnain for a spot in T20 team. I would prefer him at this point, along with Hasnain as factors on the last 12 overs of a T20 innings. Amir and Amad Butt open the bowling. At this time I would restrict him to the T20 team and gave Waqar work on the boy's rhythm.
His action has a bit of jerk in some deliveries.

He balls with the new ball as well and gets good out swing as he showed in the Pakistan Cup 2019 representing Balochistan and played an important role in taking them to the finals. However considering the other options Melbourne Stars have in their team, Haris looks to be the best option for the older ball with his ability to reverse the ball and ball yorkers.
I agree that he needs to work on his rythm.

Better than Bumrah thoughIrony

I believe that this is a stupid approach. You simply cannot expect that Rauf would get 6 and a hattrick. You are asking for too much.
I believe he had a great game, he took 3 wickets with extreme precision, including the wicket of the dangerman Callum Ferguson. He was also quick and hostile, but he did have some bad luck in his final over, such as the fielder overrunning the ball, resulting in a 4 and the fact that Hinchcliffe's throw was poor, causing 2 byes.
He has the capability to make it, but all he has to do is just calm down with the celebration; it was negatively received in Australia.
I think he was being sarcastic...
I wouldn't have expected anything else from you.
And you didn't disappoint.
