[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Ihsanullah - Another promising pacer from KPK

151kph thunderbolt to send Wade packing

If Pakistan messes uo Ihsanullah i am done with cricket. You give India, Aus, England, South Africa or nzl this kind if talent and they turn him in to a 300 wickets @ 24 test bowler, i am fearing he will turn in to a T 20 mercenary ala. Haris or Hasnain.

It's not just his speed that is impressive, it's his variety, accuracy and wicket-taking ability.

Really looks a fine bowler.

Seems comfortable in all formats - huge huge bonus this.

india, aus, and engs 200+ wicket test bowlers (barring starc) are brisk seamers, not out-and-out speedsters. he will most likely end up as a t20 and ODI player because assuming his real age is in mid 20s, he simply doesn't have the long-form physical exposure to be a test player. also pak are not paying anyone enough for them to prioritise tests over t20 leagues.

His body has not gone thorugh the rigors of a lot if first class cricket even if he is 25 hes a young 25 and can still play a good 10 years. He is also unlike say a Haris Rauf does nor look like a bowler which can't do well without pace. I beleive he is a good all round bowler and can do well in the 135-140 speed range. I just hope the new management under Mikey and his team can make his focus on red ball cricket as he can do well there.

The Red ball cricket thing is forlorn hope. The only players that appreciate Red ball are players that have no T20 future or actually care about the Red ball and its history. Otherwise who wants to play SL or Zim over T20 cricket

on the contrary, the most durable test bowlers tend to have a fair bit of long-form experience in their developmental years, your body cannot adapt to the rigours of 5 day cricket unless you have been playing either 3 day club cricket, or 4 day first class from a young age. most of the fast bowlers bowling into their late 30s had played a lot of long-form cricket in their youth.

a quick glance at quicks to have taken the most test wickets after 30 shows they were all playing first class from their teenage years. walsh, mcgrath, Anderson, hadlee, Donald, ambrose, etc, from the top of my head.

Haha, calm down yar, he’s played a handful of games in a mickey mouse league and getting hyped to the moon.

Mushtaq Ahmed speaking to the media

"I don't think it would be early to include Ihsanullah in Pakistan team,"

"Fast bowler doesn't need much experience of domestic cricket before playing international cricket. There are examples of Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram who didn't play much domestic cricket before making their international debut. And, they did well"

"For a spinner or even for a batsman, it is important to play domestic cricket more than a pacer. Because taking five wickets and scoring a century is an art. It takes a lot of effort for a spinner to take five wickets than a pacer. In first-class cricket, you play session by session and get time to enhance your abilities"

Imad Wasim in his presser:

"PSL is the biggest platform for youngsters. It is watched by everyone in the world. Young players get noticed because PSL is the toughest league in the world. Whoever performs in the PSL, it gets easier for them in international cricket"

"After every season of PSL, a player gets noticed and goes on to represent Pakistan. Right now, Ihsanullah from Multan is bowling really well. These things get noticed and a player can change his life through PSL and it also ultimately benefits Pakistan"

To add to this, his lack of natural athleticism suggests that he may be more injury prone as well. We do have test tours to SA and AUS very soon so perhaps he can be blooded in for those so but I agree he will not have a very long test career.

These kpk guys are durable though

His fantastic tournament continues, a wicket in his 1st over:

Nice delivery but those wides and no ball in that over look concerning!

A wicket-taking option even when not at his best which he hasn't been so far today.

Very impressive .

The power of raw pace...pancake/short boundaries etc - blah blah.. says Ihsanullah

His pace has gone down in the last couple of games. Hope he isnt carrying an injury.

Find of the tournament from the bowling contingent, need to use him in T-20 now.

If only Shaheen had done this a few years back at the T20 WC semi-final... Afsos.

This guy has been really good, judging by his numbers. Good to see another genuine fast bowler coming out of the factory.

Still think Shaheen, Haris and Naseem are our best three pacers but competition and backup options are always welcome.

Going to be in action in Sharjah against Afghanistan with Shaheen and Rauf rested, totally deserved for his fantastic performances.

Ihsanullah:

2nd ball into his spell - 149kph
3rd ball into his spell - 147kph
6th ball into his spell - a wicket

Definitely needs a chance in the national t20 side. If fitness is good maybe we can try him in Odis too.

He should be in contention for all 3 formats - we don’t know how to manage talent though so they end up being 4 over specialists.

We have failed in producing red ball bowlers and Ihsanullah is going to go down the same path.

He has been selected so he'll probably play in Pakistan's next international.

Lost it there after Shaheen hit him around.

24 runs off the over with wide after wide.

This is normal, better bowlers have been spanked around as well. He needed to slow down because everything was at breakneck speed.

No bow and arrow today big man?

Learn to bowl first before you rehearse celebrations

this is where the PSL comes in handy, give these players proper big match experience before expecting them to handle it for pak.

A great learning curve for the guy at how to handle pressure in big games , hopefully he will learn from that.

Ihsanullah wins the best bowler of Pakistan Super League 8 award

He is an excellent bowler.A classic fast bowler with good height, pace and bounce. He was under pressure but that is understandable.Shaheen who has played at the big stage was losing control too.

He’s very raw. It’s why I’m not happy that he’s been picked now. He could do with one more season of first class cricket.

Poorly handled by Riz today. He bowls a top over and looks a world beater and then gets taken off. He comes back and gets away from his basics of a hard length against a tailender.

This lad's talent was spotted over 2 years ago by Mushtaq Ahmed at the NHPC.

He was duly signed up by the same management team that has Shaheen, Rizwan, Babar etc on their books.

It's becouse he Banks on Ihsanullah to bowl 2 of the last 5 overs of the death.

Given his real age is definitely up for debate there may not be enough time to waste with this guy. He's already developed control with 150km/h deliveries, so maybe we should just chuck him in there and see what he can do before he starts regressing.

Hes definitely very raw It all depends how quickly he learns and picks things up

Theres some bowlers that look like theyve not learnt anything after 2-3 years Lets hope hes not one of them

Pcb should ensure rather than carrying drinks around he plays a solid year of domestic cricket

Let him get used to bolwing 15-20 overs in a day and then lets see where hes at

He and Shaheen are the only bowlers who I believe can do well in Australia early next year he has to be picked now so he can be taken to Australia

A fantastic find in PSL 8 after Dahani s injury.

Pace, aggression, Bounce and accuracy. A proper Pakistani Pacer.

Another in a Long Line of pacers we have produced. Fantastic to watch.

Here we go.
So another T20 specialist in the making.

Here we go.
So another T20 specialist in the making.

We sign our own death sentences.

A forward thinking board would have done it differently. Ihsanullah should not have been given a NOC at this stage of his career.

Same goes for guys like Hasnain, Haider Ali etc. who need to be focused on establishing themselves with the national team, not quick bucks in meaningless pyjama leagues.

Our test team is in the doldrums and we are resorting to playing trundlers because all our phaaast bowlers only want the phaaast bucks.

Wow seems a bit premature, but this is the way cricket is going. Players want the bucks.

Wow seems a bit premature, but this is the way cricket is going. Players want the bucks.

I am sure he wants to earn the money and get in the limelight too.

PCB seem powerless in these cases.

As per a media report, the 20-year-old pacer has got married (Nikah performed)

Any update about his injury ?already missing him we need to look after shaheen, nasim he was perfect replacement

An update on Ihsanullah - He's had an elbow operation and will be bowling again soon.

But the World Cup comes too soon for him.
Yeah we need a fit bowler but hopefully he recovers as we will definitely need him for t20 world cup

As per a media report, the 20-year-old pacer has got married (Nikah performed)

So then he isn't 20 years old

More like in his mid to late 20's and it looks evident

I'm sick of these cricketers now fudging their ages by a good number of years

When he turns 25 his pace will drop into the low 130s and everyone will wonder why :ROFLMAO:

He is a talented raw fast bowler and with such limited resources he's already showing significant skills.

All he needs is the right care and support to further enhance his pace.

On that evidence, he's most certainly NOT ready. Just ambling along and rolling his arm here. Will take some time to get to full tilt.

If we only new what his injury was, that would really help

But as usual, no news on that.

If he is fit then should be there in the squad in place of Dahani if required. Zaman is already there and I don't see that he will miss out on the selection. Arshad iqbal is another one who should be considered considering his performances in recent times.

Wow if he's bowling he's the best option his won't be consistent with his lines but he's surely have pace and on indian flat tracks you need that to get wickets

I was speaking to a member of the coaching staff who feel he needs to work a lot on his overall fitness and his fielding if he is to have a successful career.

At the moment the feeling is that he's fragile and injury-prone.

Yeah there's no way he'll be ready to go 100% in a couple of weeks.

For him, the best thing is to get fully 100% healthy, try to get into a couple of FC matches and play in the Australia Test series. Would be amazing to watch him bowl some thunderbolts on those bouncy pitches.

Pakistan's overall bench is either unfit or very raw undercooked going into the WC.

Very poor preperations but with adversity comes the opportunity to become a hero and rise to the occasion.

If he is 100% fit then he is the best option to replace Naseem Shah at the moment.

Without any doubt he is the most desdructive fast bowler we have after haris rauf, he must get replaced by naseem shah if he is fit.

Ideally, we need him in the team for the World Cup after Naseem Shah was ruled out but he himself isn't fully fit. PCB should take better care of these young fast bowlers so they can serve Pakistan for a very long time.

He was never in with a shout of World Cup selection.

He is nowhere near 100% fit.

yeah that's true, he is a terrible fielder but i think by the time his lackings will get improved through better coaching and facilities.

Instead of waseem jr after the world cup we should groom ihsanullah to cover for both Haris Rauf and naseem until he comes back. He have the pace bounce and xfactor
