^ Also from the same interview, Swamy said 'I've come to know recently many things about Modi from his Gujarat days, things that I can't even state in this interview or in public.'

What devilry is he referring to ?

Rigging may persist, but the elections will be held on time.

Most of his cult followers will overlook pre-poll and post-poll rigging as long as he remains in power, but the notion of not having timely elections will not favor Modi.

Trump tried to steal an election in 2020 but half of the american people don't care. He's winning in the polls right now and is likely to be president again.

My point is.. if people choose to be part of a cult, they will overlook every mischief of their cult leader. It is a tribal instinct.

Will Modi dare to give interview to Ravish Kumar? 😆

Modi chickened out and bolted from interviews after facing Karan Thapar, although he shines in scripted ones. "Aap aam kaise khaate hai?" 😆 :inti

Much like the BJP and its fervent supporters, the stock market is displaying signs of unease. Could unexpected developments be on the horizon? :kp :inti

Small Cap index crashed by 2.65% today. No issues, correction is temporary, growth is permanent.

Ravish Kumar the YouTuber? You want Pm of the country to give interviews to people like Krk, elvish Yadav etc? No need. You may not agree with Arnab but Republic is a huge television channel with massive market penetration. Suggest channels like that. NDTV sure, I think he should give interview to them :)

So, you're telling me Ravish Kumar, KRK, and Elvish Yadav are all the same to you? do some research about who Ravish Kumar is. :rabada2

Since you brought up YouTube, enlighten me about Modi's involvement with these gamers. 😆

What is Modi doing with a youtuber Ankit Baiyanpuria? 😆

I'm absolutely certain that Feku could manage a 30-minute interview with the ex-Senior Executive Editor of NDTV. :kp

Hopefully, you will put in more effort next time. :inti

This is Sam Pitroda FYI who called South Indians as black Africans, is a close ally of Rahul Gandhi. He manages all overseas trip and meetings of RaGa

No wonder all liberals (aka anti nationals) are maintaining pedestrian distance from discussing this topic.
Lol is that Jeremy Corbyn?? What a beautiful photos of the 3 lefty pseudo seculars :asif

Subramanian Swamy thinks if Modi is elected again, India will be akin to Nazi Germany of 1930s and the country will never have elections again.

Pretty strong words from a fellow BJP member. I know Swamy is independent in nature but that's quite an assessment of Modi !
Subramanian Swamy also said Maldives should have been surrounded by Indian forces and practically captured for allying with China and putting Indian interests at risk..

World doesn't quite work like that..

Congress's Mani Shankar Aiyar says 'Respect Pak or they'll drop atom bomb'

Mani Shankar Aiyar stated that the government can talk tough to Pakistan if it wants to, but if it doesn’t respect the neighbouring country, it may have to pay a heavy price.

Congress veteran Mani Shankar Aiyar courted controversy after saying that India should engage in dialogue with Pakistan and not flex its military muscles as it may irk Islamabad into deploying nuclear weapons against New Delhi.

He was the second leader in recent days to warn about Pakistan's nuclear capabilities. Earlier this week, National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah remarked sharply that Pakistan could resort to using atom bombs if provoked.

Dekho...Dekho woh aa gaya 😂

Finally, the biggest asset of BJP strikes. Whenever Mani Shankar opens his mouth, BJPs vote share goes up by 10%.

This video never gets old 😂😂

Epic Beizzati which he will remember in his next life as well.

Btw, this is like 6 straight day running we are hearing this comments from Congress. 26/11 done by RSS, Sam Pitroda calling South Indians as Africans, Adhir Ranjan Choudhary saying it is better to vote for BJP than TMC, Mani Iyer saying Pakistan will drop atomic bomb etc etc. Amidst all this, Pappu ji ran away from Amethi by saying 'Daro Mat...but bhaag jao'.

I said yesterday as well but its high time we have a Congress humiliation tracking thread. I am willing to give content in it 24/7

Arvind Kejriwal Interim Bail Plea Live Updates: 'Must work to fight dictatorship': Kejriwal's first statement after spending 50 days in jail

Arvind Kejriwal Interim Bail Plea Live Updates: The Supreme Court granted interim bail to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal till June 1 in the money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the Delhi excise policy case.

Kejriwal pleaded to grant him bail till counting of votes but Supreme Court rejected his plea and directed him to surrender on June 2

Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with a money laundering probe relating to alleged irregularities in the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.

On Tuesday, the bench hinted at granting interim bail to Kejriwal to enable him to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. However, it had also said that if interim bail were granted, Kejriwal would not be allowed to discharge any official duties as Chief Minister.

But i thought bjp controlled the supreme court?? Let the courts decide and then folks respect the outcome. He just got bail. Let the courts decide if he's innocent or guilty. You just baselessly said bjp controls supre court is just plain stupid.

More CMs or ministers should be held accountable for corruption no matter what party they are - bjp Congress regional parties whatever. The judi8shod pursue these cases against corrupt politicians aggressively irrespective of what party they belong to.

It's hard to make a blanket judgement of the Supreme Court. It depends on who the judge is. Judiciary has about 30 SC judges in total. There are independent judges in that lot but there are some super shady ones in there too and potentially compromised by the BJP.

In the US , the judges are appointed for life by the President ! :D

.. and you want that to happen in India ? What if a corrupt judge is given a life term.
Nope. I was just saying how absurd that is. A Republican president will appoint conservative judges and democratic president will appoint liberal judges for life. Thats insane.

There is one advantage to giving judges a life term though. US SC justices don't need to worry about post-retirement earnings. So, in a way, their judges can make unbiased rulings without one eye on their future.

A big problem in India is politicians seducing judges with post-retirement jobs. BJP have mastered that art.

Opposition leaders in India's Kashmir accuse government of sabotaging their campaigns

Opposition leaders in India's troubled Kashmir valley have accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration of denying or cancelling permissions to hold campaign events, to help his party's "proxies".

Omar Abdullah, a leader of the largest regional political party, the National Conference, said Modi's government was trying to sabotage his campaign ahead of voting in the first of Kashmir's three seats on Monday.

Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is skipping elections in Kashmir for the first since 1996, which analysts and politicians in the region say belies his narrative of integrating Kashmir with the rest of the country and bringing peace and normality to the valley ravaged by a 35-year-old uprising against India's rule.

In 2019, Modi revoked Jammu and Kashmir state's partial autonomy, removed its statehood and divided it into two federally-controlled territories: Muslim-majority Kashmir with Hindu-dominated Jammu, and a mountainous Buddhist territory of Ladakh.

While the BJP has not fielded any candidate in Kashmir's three seats, it has said that, as part of its grand strategy, it would instead support other smaller regional parties, without naming which.

In a letter to the federal poll watchdog, the Election Commission of India, on Thursday, Abdullah said the police, which are under the federal government's control, cancelled permissions for his rallies, asking him to reschedule without providing any reasons.

He said on social media platform X that it was done to help the BJP's "proxy candidates".

His rival Mehbooba Mufti, who heads the other regional political powerhouse the People's Democratic Party (PDP), also accused the police of not allowing her to hold campaign events.

"This attitude of the police, in which they curtail our movement to support the proxy parties of the BJP, is against the guidelines of the Election Commission of India," she said at a rally in Srinagar on Thursday.

V.K. Birdi, the police official responsible for Kashmir, did not immediately respond to a request seeking comment.

Both Abdullah and Mufti have said they were opposed to the BJP and would support an opposition Congress-led alliance of more than two dozen parties federally.

The state unit of the election watchdog has also asked PDP's Srinagar candidate, Waheed ur Rehman Para to refrain from calling this election a "referendum" against scrapping of semi-autonomy of the region in 2019 in his speeches.

While Srinagar will vote on May 13, the elections in the other two seats will be held on May 20 and 25.

Nuclear-armed neighbours India and Pakistan control parts of Kashmir, but claim it in full, and have fought two of their three wars over the region.

It appears that the moderators mistakenly removed my post where I inquired about the statement alleging BJP's control over the Supreme Court. If your post remains visible, I will cite it and address any inaccuracies. It's important to ensure that baseless claims aren't easily made without accountability. :inti

With respect to you bro but in this segment of debate, brother @deltexas absolutely destroyed you with proper facts and reasoning. First it was exulting over corrupt Kejri being punished. The same was the case when Rahulg was kicked out of parliament. When they get out of that, then the narrative changes to - but but but you guys claim democracy is in danger. See it's alive and well :dhoni

What I find very amusing to read in the bhakts enjoying and outraging over Sammy Pitroda's Africa line is:

The irony of their outrage is completely lost on them. They actually think that saying a South Indian looks like an African is some terribly insulting statement. I'm not sure they will understand this point, even after reading what I just said now.

That's why you have the situation of some Gujarati 🤡 sitting in the UK thinking that calling someone charcoal-skinned is a mic drop moment :dhoni

We're aware of who's having a challenging day at the office. He made false accusations, attributing statements to me that I never made regarding the BJP's control over the Supreme Court, and consistently avoided addressing the issue when confronted. Meanwhile, you seem visibly frustrated today due to Kejriwal being granted bail.
I am waiting for proper facts and reasoning now... :inti

On the other hand - you guys claim with modi democracy is in danger, he will change constitution etc. Kejri got arrested, got bail and will go back to jail again! Only way democracy can be saved is if our puppu comes to power.

Some Indians in India don't feel secure unless the British, Muslim Invaders or an Italian rules them and tells them what to do...

Why Pakistan being discussed when polls are in India: Priyanka Gandhi slams BJP

Why is Pakistan being discussed when elections are taking place in India and the unemployment rate here is at a 45-year-high, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra asked on Friday as she hit back at the BJP amid a row over Mani Shankar Aiyar's remarks.

She also asked the BJP to fight the polls on real issues.

Priyanka Gandhi, in an exclusive interview with PTI, accused the BJP of raising Hindu-Muslim rhetoric to win the elections and asserted that the people don't want the polls to be contested based on religion and caste.

"People are saying you've (the BJP) won two elections on religion and now move forward from that," Priyanka Gandhi said.

"I ask when was the statement made? ⦠If it is an old statement, then why are we discussing it today? Secondly, I want to ask where elections are taking place; in India or in Pakistan? They are taking place in India. So why are we discussing Pakistan?" she told PTI during her campaign in Amethi for the party's candidate, Kishori Lal Sharma.

Priyanka Gandhi also questioned why no discussion was done on rising unemployment in India, which is the highest in the last 45 years.

"If they (people) have to get treatment done, they feel worried. Why is this not being talked about? Farmers are suffering, unable to earn, everything has become expensive, from diesel to farming materials. Why is this not being discussed? Why are labourers being exploited and do not get enough wages?" she asked.

Aiyar's remarks on Pakistan sparked a row on Friday, with his party quick to dissociate itself from the comments while the BJP latched on to those, accusing the grand old party of being an apologist for Pakistan and the terrorism emanating from its soil.

Aiyar said the video was old and dredged up now as the BJP's election campaign is faltering.

In comments that have gone viral on social media, Aiyar is heard saying that India should give respect to Pakistan as it is a sovereign nation and engage with it as it also possesses an atom bomb.

Asked about the Congress' bid to keep the focus on people's issues, Priyanka Gandhi accused the BJP of raising the Hindu-Muslim rhetoric to divert attention from the real issues and its performance.

"I feel the people are fed up and have understood that in every election they raise Hindu-Muslim, make it (the narrative) religion-based, sometimes they ask to take oath in the name of God that you will vote for the BJP ⦠what nonsense is this," the Congress general secretary said.

She asked the BJP to seek votes on performance.

Priyanka Gandhi also asked how many elections the BJP wants to win on its Hindu-Muslim rhetoric.

"So this is the demand of the people in this election, they are saying that they don't want to fight the elections on the basis of religion and caste. We want to fight the elections on price rise, unemployment, problems of farmers and real issues, the problems we face in our daily lives," she said.

Where are these issues being heeded, people are asking, she said.

Priyanka Gandhi will remain in Rae Bareli and Amethi till the polls are held in the two seats on May 20. While Rahul Gandhi is contesting against the BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh in Rae Bareli, Gandhi family aide Sharma is taking on the BJP's Smriti Irani in Amethi.

In her street corner meetings in Amethi on Friday, Priyanka Gandhi talked about the personal connection her family has had with the people for over a century.

She also talked about how Indira Gandhi was being attacked by Modi on the issue of nationalism when it was under her tenure as prime minister that Pakistan was broken into two in 1971.

The senior Congress leader also talked about how her father Rajiv Gandhi would come to Amethi as prime minister, listen to people's grievances and even their "scolding". He always worked for the development of this constituency, Priyanka Gandhi said.

She even targeted PM Modi on the electoral bonds issue and alleged that the BJP became the world's richest part by "extorting money" through the scheme.

Arvind Kejriwal's dig at PM: 'Modi turning 75 next year, will he retire?'

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked if Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be retiring in 2025 as he will be turning 75 on September 17 that year, since he made the rule himself.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a press conference in Delhi, a day after he walked out of jail after being granted interim bail by the Supreme Court.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor said "While the BJP keeps on asking the INDIA bloc parties as to who their Prime Minister candidate is going to be, I ask the saffron party who is their PM candidate?"

Kejriwal went on to ask if Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be retiring in 2025 as he will turn 75 on September 17 that year.

"PM Modi is turning 75, on 17th September. He made a rule that leaders in the party would retire after 75 years. Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan, and Yashwant Sinha were retired and now PM Modi is going to retire on 17th September," he said.

"If their government is formed, they will first dispose of Yogi Adityanath and then make Amit Shah the Prime Minister of the country. PM Modi is asking for votes for Amit Shah. Will Amit Shah fulfil Modi's guarantee?" the AAP chief further claimed.

The Delhi Chief Minister went ahead and asked "Who will deliver the Modi Ki Guarantee? Will Amit Shah deliver on your promises ?"

Kejriwal urged BJP voters to understand that they are not going to vote for Modiji, but for Amit Shah.

What a bouncer from Kejriwal. 😆 :inti

PM To Quit At 75, Says Arvind Kejriwal. No Such Rule, Responds Amit Shah

Home Minister Amit Shah today returned fire at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief's swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi is setting the ground for Mr Shah to take over as Prime Minister in future.

Mr Kejriwal in his first press conference a day after being released from jail attacked PM Modi as someone who wants "one nation, one leader", alluding to the BJP's push for 'one nation, one election' system.

"These people ask INDIA bloc about prime ministerial face. I ask BJP who will be their PM? Modi ji is turning 75 on September 17 next year. He himself made the rule in 2014 that people aged 75 will be retired. They retired LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sumitra Mahajan," Mr Kejriwal said.

"He will retire next year. He is seeking votes to making Amit Shah the Prime Minister. Will Amit Shah fulfil Modi ji's guarantee?" said the AAP chief who got interim bail till June 1 to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, already three of the seven phases completed.

Responding to Mr Kejriwal, the Home Minister told reporters the Delhi Chief Minister is hugely mistaken that PM Modi will step aside when he hits 75.

"I want to say this to Arvind Kejriwal and company and INDIA bloc that nothing as such (75-year-old limit rule) is mentioned in the BJP's constitution. PM Modi is only going to complete this tenure and PM Modi will continue to lead the country in future. There is no confusion in the BJP," Mr Shah said

The Home Minister also questioned Mr Kejriwal's "misplaced confidence" and pointed at the interim bail as a temporary relief, but not something that frees the Delhi Chief Minister from the liquor policy case, in which former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has also been jailed.

"Arvind Kejriwal has been given interim bail to hold election campaigns. He prayed in front of the Supreme Court that his arrest was wrong, but the Supreme Court did not agree to it. The interim bail has only been given till June 1 and on June 2, he has to surrender in front of the agencies," Mr Shah said.

"If Arvind Kejriwal considers this as a clean chit, then his understanding of the law is weak," he added.

As part of the interim bail, Mr Kejriwal cannot go to his office, sign official documents, or visit the Delhi secretariat. He has to take permission from the Lieutenant Governor for any urgent documents that need to be signed.

The Supreme Court said the Lok Sabha elections has prompted the consideration of interim bail as at this stage, it is not possible for the court to either conclude the arguments or pronounce the verdict on his petition challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

India poll watchdog’s inaction lets PM Modi commit ‘brazen’ violations, opposition says

India’s opposition said the nation’s election commission was allowing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to continue “unchecked and brazen” violations by not taking action on opposition complaints of religious hate speech and misrepresentation.

More than halfway through India’s six-week national elections, the world’s biggest, the Congress party-led opposition complained in a letter to the Election Commission of India on Friday that “no meaningful action has been taken to penalize those who are guilty in the ruling regime”.

This was a “complete abdication” of the commission’s duty, it said. “As a result there has been an unchecked and brazen continuation of these violations, which are now committed with impunity and utter disregard.” The watchdog is responsible for ensuring political parties do not violate election rules against promoting division along religious, caste or linguistic lines in the multiethnic South Asian nation.

In his campaign speeches, Modi, seeking a rare third consecutive term, has targeted the Congress, claiming it wants to help minority Muslims at the expense of other socially disadvantaged groups.

Representatives for the commission and Modi’s Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not respond to requests seeking comment.

Election results in the world’s most populous nation are to be announced on June 4.

The commission on Tuesday ordered social media platform X to take down a video posted by a BJP state unit that accused Congress leaders of planning to extend welfare benefits to Muslims at the cost of other disadvantaged tribal and Hindu caste groups.

Wow you need to apply in Election Commision man.

Haha...just my prediction bro.

Lots of posters here throwing random statements like Rahul will be next PM, tide is changing, Congress will win, Modi will lose etc etc. So I did a state level breakdown and gave my prediction. Let see if they can come with similar analysis and proper breakdown from where Congress is getting so many seats to form govt instead of regular trolling.

Representatives for the commission and Modi's Hindu-nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not respond to requests seeking comment.

Election results in the world's most populous nation are to be announced on June 4.

The commission on Tuesday ordered social media platform X to take down a video posted by a BJP state unit that accused Congress leaders of planning to extend welfare benefits to Muslims at the cost of other disadvantaged tribal and Hindu caste groups.

While not making any rulings on the complaints, the commission has sought a response from BJP chief J.P. Nadda for an April 21 speech in which Modi said the Congress planned to redistribute wealth from Hindus among Muslims, whom he called "infiltrators" and "those with many children".

The commission has also sent a notice to the Congress regarding complaints by the BJP, which says it has filed three complaints.

"The delay puts a question mark on the credibility of the election commission and therefore on the election process," said S.Y. Qureshi, a former head of the three-member election commission. "Any damage to its reputation will cause incalculable harm to the legitimacy of India's democracy."

The opposition letter mentions 10 complaints the Congress had lodged since April 6 against Modi and key aides for what it calls "divisive", "false" and "provocative" statements that sow sectarian division and misrepresent Congress' positions.

"We are not told what is the response, what is the action being taken," Congress lawmaker Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters after meeting commission officials on Friday.

"This is an irreversible window," Singhvi said. "If they don't act promptly it would be a complete abdication of constitutional duty."

Ashok Lavasa, who was an election commissioner during the 2019 general election, said the process from receiving a complaint to deciding on it "should not take more than three to four days because otherwise it loses purpose", as the campaign phase is quite short.

SC To Hear Delhi CM Kejriwal’s Plea Against Summons In Defamation Case Today

The Supreme Court on Monday is scheduled to hear a plea of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging a Delhi High Court order upholding the summons issued to him in a criminal defamation case for retweeting an allegedly defamatory video circulated by YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in May 2018. Notably, Kejriwal has admitted that he “committed a mistake” by retweeting the alleged defamatory video.

A bench of Justices Sanjiv Khanna and Dipankar Datta is likely to hear the matter.

KEJRIWAL ADMITS ‘MAKING MISTAKE’

Kejriwal on February 26 admitted in the apex court that he “made a mistake” by retweeting an allegedly defamatory video circulated by YouTuber Rathee related to the BJP IT Cell. Following the Delhi Chief Minister’s acceptance of the mistake, the top court on March 11 asked Kejriwal if he wanted to give an apology to the complainant in the matter.

Meanwhile, the High Court had earlier refused to quash the trial court’s 2019 order summoning Kejriwal, stating that when a public figure tweets a defamatory post, the ramifications extend far beyond a mere whisper in someone’s ears.

Congress' 'guarantees' will help change lives of women: Sonia Gandhi

In a video message, she said women of the country are facing tough times in the wake of a "severe crisis" and the party's 'Mahalakshmi scheme' for them will help change their lives.

Congress Parliamentary party chairperson Sonia Gandhi on May 13 assured people that the "guarantees" listed by the party in its Lok Sabha poll manifesto will change their circumstances in this "difficult time".

In a video message, which was shared by the Congress on social media, she said women of the country are facing tough times in the wake of a "severe crisis" and the party's 'Mahalakshmi scheme' for them will help change their lives.

"My dear sisters, women have made a huge contribution, from the freedom struggle to the creation of modern India. However, today our women are facing a crisis amid severe inflation. To do justice to their hard work and penance, the Congress has come up with a revolutionary guarantee," Sonia Gandhi said.

"The Congress' 'Mahalakshmi' scheme guarantees that we will give ₹1 lakh every year to a woman from a poor family," she said in her message, an appeal to people voting in the ongoing fourth round of the seven-phase general elections to support the Congress.

Sonia Gandhi said the Congress' "guarantees" have already changed the lives of crores of families in Karnataka and Telangana, where it has also implemented the scheme. The Congress is in power in these two southern States.

"Be it MGNREGA, Right to Information, Right to Education or through schemes such as Food Security, the Congress party has empowered millions of Indians. The 'Mahalakshmi' is the latest guarantee to take our work forward," Sonia Gandhi said.

"In this difficult time, I want to assure you that the hand of Congress is with you and this hand will change your circumstances. Thank you. Jai Hind," the former Congress president said, referring to her party's symbol.

Her appeal was shared by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former party president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on their X handles.

Owaisi is a nobody in the ind national politics. People of old city in hyderabad are his unfortunate victims. Some of the poorest in the coty. Never does anything good to his constituents. Parties with the brs guys and has houses in uk where he and his brother go enjoy themselves. Me and my family know this guy personally and his late dad sultan owaisi as well. Just feel sorry for the people in the constituency who vote for him repeatedly and get treated like trash by these owaisi brothers. They enjo3all the vices in life while spouting holier than thou speeches

Really? Are you guys related?
Cmon bro - related?? No way. The owaisi brothers mingle with the high and rich and the NRIs of the Hyderabad society which includes Hindus. Hypocrites of the highest order. If you see their social life- a lot of guys will be stunned.

They have their liasions and all their vices when they go to the UK and preach moralistic stuff to the poor and illiterate old city Muslim masses. Crooks of the highest order. The private colleges they have are all donation based for the richer folks. But the poor masses have no access to English schools or any schools for that matter nor are encouraged to go study. That's no party wants to campaign in the old city Hyderabad. Gone case.

"Doing This For 10 Years": Priyanka Gandhi On PM's "Hindu Or Muslim" Note

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "I never said Hindu or Muslim..." clarification, declaring, "This is exactly what he (Mr Modi) has been doing for 10 years. He cannot (now) start denying speeches he has given... he has given speeches in front of the whole world. How can he suddenly turn around and say he has not said those things?"

Mrs Gandhi Vadra - campaigning fiercely on behalf of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the party's stronghold of Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli - also accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, which has been seen as making religious issues a poll platform, of practicing a "politics of religion".

The sharp counterattack comes a day after Mr Modi said his speech last month in Rajasthan's Banswara - in which he referred to Muslims and presented the Congress' plans for an economic survey as a move to "redistribute wealth to infiltrators" - was about poor families and not religion.

In that speech the Prime Minister referred to comments by his predecessor, Dr Manmohan Singh, and said, "... when Congress was in power, they said Muslims have first right on country's assets... your mangalsutra (and gold) will be distributed to those who have more children... to infiltrators".

In earlier speeches the PM referred to the Congress' manifesto as an "imprint of the Muslim League" and declaring "every page reeks of breaking India into pieces", triggering a fresh and separate row.

The Congress filed complaints with the Election Commission on both counts; this was after the BJP filed one claiming Rahul Gandhi, had made "derisive and obnoxious utterances" against the PM.

However, on Tuesday, speaking to a news broadcaster, Mr Modi professed dismay over the reception to these and other remarks, saying, "I am shocked. Who told you that whenever one talks of people with more children, the inference is they are Muslims? Why are you so unjust towards Muslims?"

"This is the situation in poor families too. I didn't mention either Hindu or Muslim..."

The Prime Minister - whose party boss, JP Nadda, was issued a show cause notice after widespread criticism of his comments in Rajasthan - also made a dramatic "pledge", declaring, "The day I start doing Hindu-Muslims, I won't be entitled to live in the public domain. I won't do Hindu-Muslim..."

Last month, in a significant first, party bosses were held accountable for leaders' violating the Model Code of Conduct during campaign speeches and events. The EC - criticised after seeming to delay acting on complaints against the Prime Minister and the BJP - said it was of the "considered view" that parties would have to take primary responsibility for the conduct of their candidates.

On internet everyone knows everyone personally.
I won't go that far. Because my family and extended family know the current CM of our state since his collage days. Politicians are humans too, and a lot of people know them.

That’s not the same as someone telling they know someone to make a point against or for that person.

That’s a common tactic used on Internet forums and I have seen it being used since late 90s.

This is the scariest moment for any….. this is why India desperately need NRC and UCC… NRC already implemented, but in 3rd term BJP must implement UCC asap

An April 5 report in Business Standard points out that of 417 sanghi candidates announced as on that date, 116 (28%) are turncoats from other parties.

Some sanghi ideology this is. This tells me all those are there to enjoy the perks of power, not for any ideology and that's dangerous for sangh in long run.

BVB & pillionrider,

Read what some voters from Amethi has to say about our dear Cylinderella,

Bahut vade kiye the pichli bar Irani ne, koi pura nahin kiya (Irani made many promises in the past election, and did not fulfil any of them),” says a group of villagers in Simrauta. When asked about specifics, they mention her promises of ensuring sugar supply at Rs 13 per kg, cheap gas cylinders and an end to the menace of stray cattle. “13 rupaye kilo chini boli thi, 13 rupaye pav mil rahi hai (She promised sugar at Rs 13/kg and now it’s a quarter of a kg at that rate),” says another group of respondents in Salon town.

Controversy erupts as Madhavi Latha asks burqa-clad voter to lift her veil during polls in Telangana

HYDERABAD: BJP Hyderabad Lok Sabha candidate K Madhavi Latha landed in controversy on Monday after a video clip of her asking burqa-clad Muslim women to reveal their faces at a polling booth so that she could match them with the photographs on their voter ID cards went viral.

A case was registered under relevant Sections of the IPC and Representation of the People Act. The Hyderabad Collector’s office confirmed in a post on X that a case against the BJP candidate was registered in the Malakpet police station under Sections 171C (voluntarily interfering in the exercise of electoral right), 186 (voluntarily obstructing a public servant from discharging of duties) and 505 (1)(c) (circulation of a statement with an intent to incite a class or community) of the IPC, besides Section 132 of the Representation of the People Act.

According to the complaint filed by Booth Level Officer (BLO) M Aruna, Madhavi Latha engaged in inappropriate behaviour with a voter.

The incident occurred when Rafatunnisa, a voter, arrived at the polling station to vote. It is alleged that Madhavi Latha took Rafatunnisa’s ID card and lifted her burqa reportedly without her consent.

Claiming discrepancies between the voter’s ID card photo and her actual appearance, Madhavi Latha reportedly instructed Rafatunnisa to return home and verify her identity using her Aadhaar card, insisting that she remove her niqab (veil) for a thorough check. Rafatunnisa, feeling humiliated, left the polling booth without casting her vote.

The AIMIM lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) after a video clip of Madhavi Latha’s actions in the polling booth emerged.

Clarifying on the matter, election authorities said that no candidate has the right to lift someone’s (veil) to check her identity. If there is suspicion, a candidate can ask the polling officer to verify a voter’s identity, they added.

Lol, this Lata lifted the veils of many a Muslim women in Hyderabad during voting. Guess that is alright with andhbhakts.

"Arvind Kejriwal Shattered Anna Hazare's Hopes, Sided With Corrupt": Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday attacked AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, asserting that the Delhi CM has lost his mind after going to jail.

Mr Adityanath made the remarks in a response to the claims by Kejriwal that the UP chief minister will be removed from the post if the BJP retains power.

At a joint press conference along with Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav here this morning, Mr Kejriwal reiterated his claim that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be made the next prime minister and Yogi Adiyanath will be removed as UP chief minister if the BJP comes to power again.

Mr Adityanath said, "Mr Kejriwal has lost his mind after going to jail. The Delhi CM, who shattered Anna Hazare's aspirations and sided with the corrupt, is now targeting me. He has embraced the Congress, against whom Anna protested, like a necklace."

He was addressing an election rally in Tindwari in support of the candidate for the Hamirpur-Mahoba Lok Sabha seat.

"Mr Kejriwal has shattered Anna Hazare's hopes. It must be disheartening for Anna to witness the kind of politics that has arisen from his movement," Mr Adityanath said, adding that Anna Hazare might never forgive the AAP national convener for this "betrayal".

He alleged that since assuming power, the Aam Aadmi Party has surrounded itself with corrupt individuals.

"With Mr Kejriwal in jail, the people of Delhi felt a sense of relief, as if their 'cough' had subsided, but his release would likely cause them to 'cough' again," Adityanath said in a lighter vein.

On May 10, the Supreme Court had granted Kejriwal interim bail till June 1, the last day of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections, and directed him to surrender and go back to jail on June 2. The Delhi CM was arrested on March 21 in a money laundering case linked to the excise 'scam'.

Arvind Kejriwal backstabbed Anna Hazare by making these corruption. He actually won Delhi election in 2013 on Anna Hazare’s wave. Anna at that time clearly advised Kejriwal not to enter politix, but Kejriwal neglected him. Now he is facing consequences.

Kejriwal said when he become Delhi CM that he will live in his old house and not use any government vehicle. He will only serve Delhi ppls, but exactly opposite happened. Just Google kejriwal’s house and u come to know
