DC won by 6 wickets against LSG. For once LSG couldn't defend a 160 plus total this season.

Australian youngster Jake Fraser-McGurk unleashed a flurry of big hits and shared a half-century partnership with skipper Rishabh Pant as Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Friday. Fraser-McGurk smashed five maximums in his 35-ball 55 and shared a 77-run stand with Pant, who scored 41 off 24 balls. Their partnership helped Delhi Capitals chase down the hosts' total of 167/7 in just 18.1 overs.

Earlier in the match, DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav (3/20) and left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed (2/41) tormented the LSG batters. Ayush Badoni, however, played a crucial innings, scoring an unbeaten 55 to take the hosts to a competitive total.

Making a strong comeback to the side after missing three games due to groin issues, Kuldeep made an immediate impact. He took the wickets of the dangerous Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran in his very first over. He then dismissed LSG skipper Rahul for 39, further denting the opposition's batting lineup.

Today's fixture in IPL 2024:

Punjab Kings vs Rajasthan Royals, Match 27

It will be Ashwin vs Dhawan. 14 innings 4 outs.

PBKS pacers have picked 28 wickets till now which is also the most for a team this season.

Punjab got its batting order totally wrong.
Shashank mid bat in top 4. Hr is there best batsman. Not sure why Ashutosh Sharma is dropped. He was their 2nd best batsman behind Shashank.

Too many slow batsmen at the top wasting deliveries and putting immense pressure on lower order pretty much every match.

A complete Shatshow of a franchise is this PBKS.

Kuldeep Sen is 27 and it is surprising that he never got to play for India. He bowls at 145 clicks consistently and bowls hard length.
The likes of Chahar, Avesh, Harshal etc played for India in the last 4 or 5 years but Kuldeep who is a proper fast bowler never got a chance.

Speaking after the toss, Sam Curran revealed that Dhawan missed out due to a minor injury:

"Shikhar (Dhawan) picked up a niggle, that's why I'm here."

"We would have bowled first as well, but we'll now have to put the runs on the board. The balance has been good, we'd have liked to win a few more games, but the middle-order looks good, especially Shashank (Singh) and Ashutosh (Sharma). We've got exciting players and plenty of quality. We've Atharva Taide coming in for Shikhar tonight, (Liam) Livingstone is back as well."

Hoping we get Kuldeep Sen until the 2027 World Cup in South Africa .

His usage of the front arm is not ideal and that's limiting him.

If he can get that nailed down, I think he can still eke out a decent white ball career for India.

That drop catch between Avesh Khan and Samson

Proper European cricket league village drop catch!

Ashutosh and Shashank has to bat higher up the order. They are coming too late down the order when 90% of the innings is already done and wasted by the pathetic top and middle order of kings.

Punjab Kings 147/8 in 20 overs (A Sharma 31, K Maharaj 2/23) vs Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2024 game

Rabada has disappointed me in last 2-3 years as a Test & international gun - he appears jaded - 43/0 on 6

RR pulled off a thrilling last-over win after PBKS handed a major scare in Mullanpur. RR were in all sorts of trouble chasing 148 before Shimron Hetmyer led the side over the line with a ball to spare.

Ashutosh Sharma’s cameo lifted PBKS to 147 in 20 overs against a disciplined RR bowling unit on Saturday.

RR had won the toss and opted to field against a PBKS unit that took the field without skipper Shikhar Dhawan.

The Royals had an excellent chance to register their fifth win on the trot and consolidate their totem pole position, but Rashid Khan’s daring assault helped Gujarat Titans snatch a last-ball victory on Wednesday.

The Shikhar Dhawan-captained side has blown hot and cold so far in the tournament, winning two and losing three out of five matches. The primary reason for their middling run this year is the patchy form of their fancied batsmen as Punjab relied on cameos by uncapped Shashank Singh and Ashutosh Sharma to boost their batting.

I think he had injury issues..

WHat a thriller of a game we had yesterday. Hetmyer saved the day for RR else we might have seen a super over of RR losing.

TATA IPL 2024 Match 28 , KKR Vs LSG - Match Report

Eden Gardens was treated to an entertaining batting performance by Phil Salt, whose innings of 89 not out off 47 balls powered Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to an eight-wicket victory over the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This is KKR’s second victory in as many games at home in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Chasing 162, Salt was attacking from the outset against the LSG bowlers. The first over went for 22 as Salt began his charge on the bowling, with Shamar Joseph running in. The West Indian was making his debut in the IPL and had a tough start with the Salt charge on the bowlers. Although Sunil Narine (6) and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (7) were dismissed early, Salt maintained his dominance.

That said, Salt also benefited, with some fortune going his way. A couple of catches were dropped off Joseph’s bowling – particularly in the seventh over, when he pulled one to deep square-leg, where the fielder parried it over the fence in an attempt to catch it. A few inside edges also missed the stumps and went to the boundary.

Through that, there were some good and well-timed shots, particularly through the off-side. One such drive through point off Arshad Khan got him a boundary and his fifty off only 26 balls. Salt seemed to pick up pace after the Powerplay as KKR raced to 101 for two in 10 overs. Shreyas Iyer had the best seat in the house as he knocked the ball around during his 38-ball 38 – mainly handing the stage to his teammate in-form.

KKR motored along to a victory as Salt kept finding the boundary. LSG had had no answer to Salt’s pyrotechnics on this day as KKR clinched the contest with 26 balls to spare – providing a good boost to an already impressive Net Run Rate. At the end of this game, KKR’s NRR stands at 1.688 – by far the best among all teams so far. They have now won four out of their five games this season.

Earlier in the day, KKR won the toss and chose to bowl first. LSG openers tried providing a quick start to their innings, but the KKR bowling was attacking and looking for wickets. Quinton de Kock started well with two fours off the first two balls of the innings but lost his wicket in the second over when he edged one to short third-man and was caught by Narine off Vaibhav Arora.

KL Rahul was positive through his innings, starting with a classy six over cover. He managed to keep the tempo in the powerplay as LSG finished on 49 for two. Deepak Hooda was promoted to bat at No. 3. Mitchell Starc ended his innings when he dismissed him caught at point – courtesy of a brilliant effort by Ramandeep Singh. Ayush Badoni walked in at No. 4 and set about the task of providing stability to the LSG innings.

LSG got a few boundaries, but run-scoring wasn’t easy as KKR maintained a hold over proceedings. At the half-way mark, LSG were 72 for two and in need of acceleration. Rahul showed that intent when he smashed the first ball of the 11th over for a six – with a powerful upper cut. However, Andre Russell struck the next ball when Rahul hit one straight to Ramandeep at deep mid-wicket.

LSG lost wickets at regular intervals, and that hindered their prospects of putting a big score on the board. Narine was economical with one for 17 in his four overs and Varun Chakaravarthy also contributed with one for 30. Nicholas Pooran’s efforts largely drove LSG’s innings in the last 10 overs. The attacking left-hander hit 45, featuring two fours and four sixes to take LSG past 160.

KKR did not let LSG finish well as Mitchell Starc returned to deliver a good last over. He had Pooran caught behind first ball and then dismissed the Impact Player, Arshad. Starc finished with 3/28 – his best performance in the TATA IPL 2024.

CSK needs all the runs they can to defend.

MI batting is back in form and 200 is nothing for them to chase. 220-230 is needed to have a chance at Wankhade.

Bumrah doing Bumrah things - the best T20 bowler ever - any disagreements - will respond kal :)

Dhoni comes in to slog for a few balls. Higher chances of staying not out and also boost his average.

Hardik handing it over to MSD in a platter. Eat all you can sir.

What a batting show so far at Wankhede and it's not over yet!

Can MI chase this down?

Match lost by Pandya with his horrible last over and then wasting a full over before getting out.

Good to see Rohit back in top form.

Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana came up with his best IPL figures, grabbing four wickets as Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians by 20 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. Pathirana took the wickets of Ishan Kishan (23), Surya Kumar Yadav (0), Tilak Varma (31), and Romario Shepherd (1) to return figures of 4 for 28. MI lost steam in the chase of an imposing 206/4, managing to score 186 for six.

Rohit Sharma batted from start to finish for his unbeaten 105 off 63 deliveries — his second IPL century — but he could not find a partner who could stay with him long enough and build a big partnership.

Earlier, CSK top-order batter Shivam Dube and skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad struck stroke-filled half-centuries as the five-time champions scored 206/4. Dube slammed an unbeaten 66 off 38 deliveries, while Gaikwad smashed a 40-ball 69, including five maximums, as the duo put up a 90-run stand after CSK had lost openers Ajinkya Rahul (5) and Rachin Ravindra (21) cheaply.

What a terrific spell by Pathirana. He literally floored MI in their own den. A very very hard ground to defend even 230.

RECORD BROKEN!

The #Wankhede crowd set a new Star Sports Shor-Meter record of 131dB, with their cheer for the wicket of #AjinkyaRahane - the 𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃𝐄𝐒𝐓 in #IPL2024!

Pandya finished his cricketing career (International) after moving to MI... His only hope was T20 (and then through that form sneak into ODIs... Anyhow he doesn't have the fitness to be relied in ODIs...). Had a good chance to captain Indian T20 team and rub the captaincy inspiration to his individual performances...

Now, next year he may be pushed out of MI team too and may get chosen by a lesser team like Punjab, RCB, etc. He will end up becoming an IPL only player from thereon... RCB may invest in him hoping for a HUGE result, only to see that he becomes even worse (RCB has great reputation of getting the worst of a player!)

This is the BAD-THING attached to IPL & its corporate/money mindset!

RCB have won 18 of their 33 matches at home when winning the toss (55%), while SRH have won 14 of their 34 away matches when winning the toss (41.18%).
