[PICTURES/VIDEOS] Mohammad Rizwan, other sportspersons and celebrities express their anguish for what is happening in Gaza

Surely this isnt true????
I was on the fence about Rizwans performances previously but there is a sinister coalition that is against him.

But if you have Pakistanis with weird ideologies inventing fake scenarios where they celebrate his wicket, Israeli army, hindu extremists and Indian judiciary all gunning for one guy then we must stand by him 100%.

Not only he is a brilliant cricketer but a great human being

Seeing him get Israel to tweet about our game just shows the influence he has

its ridiculous how people liek you are downplaying jay shri ram threats to pakistani muslim players.
Indian players have had to deal with 'nara-e-takbeer...' chants by Pak fans in Sharjah too. It did not affect them.
I doubt the Pak players in India are getting affected by this too. They are professionals and know how to handle hostile crowds. It's only some Pak fans who seem rattled.
Rather of you lot to be poking India so much, when your board isn't complaining and your players are quite happy with the treatment they are getting in India.

Nothing will come out of this court case as Rizwan hasn't broken any law in India by offering namaz on the field. No matter how unnecessary that may have been , it certainly wasn't illegal.
India courts get hundreds of silly cases like this everyday. Most of them are simply brushed aside.

Personal beliefs or practices should not be a matter of controversy as long as they do not disrupt the game or violate any rules and I don't think that there is any law that refrains any player from doing such stuff in the ground. That complaint was pretty unnecessary.

Making an issue out of nothing, both Indians and Pakistanis.

Pakistanis want to score their Hindutva goals, most of them don't really care about the Palestinian issue here but its more about RSS, Hindutva which they seem to be thinking about daily lol.

Indians making a fuss over nothing, so what, Rizwan made his stance heard, its not harming anyone..

I read the case....im surprised a so called advocate would put something like that together...but it is an indication of the lengths that the international anti rizwan coalition will go to.

Like I said before, it is a non-issue. I doubt even Rizwan is worried.
It's not any 'International Anti-Rizwan Coalition' at work. Stop being so dramatic.

When there is a conflict between 2 parties and there is war, then it is the general population that has to face the damage. Nobody can and should defend such activities so this is what Rizwan did. He never mentioned any particular party here so I think no controversy should be created here,

They are just trying to get some thing out of it with this senseless approach.

I would be surprized if indian courts take up this case.

Anwar El Ghazi: Winger suspended by Mainz over Israel-Gaza post

Dutch winger Anwar El Ghazi has been suspended from training and games by his club side Mainz for a social media post about the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The 28-year-old has since deleted the post which his club felt was "unacceptable".

Bundesliga club Mainz said El Ghazi "took a position on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East that was deemed unacceptable by the club".

Former Aston Villa and Everton winger El Ghazi joined Mainz in the summer.

He has played three league games for club after joining on a free transfer.

In a statement on Tuesday, the club said: "Prior to making this decision, the club and the player had engaged in an in-depth discussion.

"Mainz 05 respect the fact that there are varying perspectives on the decades-long, complex conflict in the Middle East.

"However, the club are distancing themselves from the content of the social media post in question, as it does not align with the values of the club."

Bayern Munich are reportedly scheduled to meet full-back Noussair Mazraoui after the Morocco international shared a pro-Palestinian video on Instagram.

In a statement, the club told the DPA German news agency: "Bayern immediately contacted Noussair Mazraoui after his Instagram posts on Sunday.

"After his return [from national team duty], a detailed personal meeting with the club's management in Munich is planned."

BBC Sport has contacted Mainz and Bayern for comment.

Elsewhere, Nice defender Youcef Atal is being investigated by prosecutors in France after allegedly posting an antisemitic video on social media relating to the conflict in Israel and Gaza.

The idf congratulated india on their victory over pakistan because if rizwans support
Just shows how geopolitical cricket is
Colin Powell wasn't wrong about pakistan

Well if Isreal tweet about cricket and mention rizwan thn just think what kind of insecurity these Zionest have in thre mind .
Zionists have no fan base outside of the West, hence they appeal to RSS India but missed the memo on how Hitler is revered in India.

It's seem like someone order them to Post a tweets.
Haris Rauf, Shadab Khan , Usman mir ,Nawaz all were posted a tweet around same time

I understand Israel wants to seek revenge for the lives lost. In that case with their intelligence network they can find out the hideouts of Hamas and make targetted attacks minimizing civilian casualties. But instead bombing the entire gaza strip makes no sense. As a parent of 2 young children my heart breaks at seeing the Gazans carrying injured or dead children. Equally was pained to see the young children held captive by Hamas some of them in cribs whose parents might have been killed.

As an immediate meaure hope Hamas releases the captive israelis and Israelis stop the bombing. Put a stop to the end of lives of people on either side. No matter how many people Hamas will kidnap Israel will not budge. No matter how much Israel commits its atrocities the Palestinians will not give up their struggle for freedom.

What is most disgusting is the powers like US, Russia, Iran etc using this region as a pawn to consolidate their position while the people struggle to even stay alive.

Wish better sense prevails.

Faryal Makhdoom threatened to stop posting against Israel or ‘face severe consequences’
Social media star has been vocal about the plight of the Palestinian people
YouTube celebrity and former British boxer Amir Khan’s wife, Faryal Makhdoom, recently shared that she has received threats over her support for Palestine. The celeb posted a screenshot of a threatening message she received on WhatsApp from an anonymous Israeli caller ID. “Let's make this quite simple. If you support Israel and cease posting about Palestine, we will ensure you are rewarded lucratively. If you don't or if this is publicised, there will be severe consequences. Your choice Mrs Faryal. Take care,” the message read.

“I got this message last night,” Makhdoom explained in the overlaying text on the post, appearing unfazed. “Like it's going to stop me from posting the truth.”

Makhdoom is one of the many public figures using her fanbase to draw attention to Israeli aggression in Gaza and the West Bank since tensions in the region escalated after Hamas’ attack on Southern Israel on October 7. She took to her Instagram account to share a series of pro-Palestine posts and went on to condemn the Israeli government’s longstanding occupation of the Palestinian territories. Makhdoom also took her fellow celebrities to task for not taking a stand against the intensifying atrocities in Gaza.

Doubting Rizwan's position on this conflict and making it about India is low,

Most Muslim athletes whether it be MMA, Football, or any other sport have expressed their sympathies, what makes you doubt Rizwan for no reason? Are these other athletes also trying to score points or is that just reserved for Pakistani cricketers?

The fact that Hindutva would get offended on another nation's behalf in itself is incredibly stupid.

Take off your saffron-tainted glasses once in a while.

I didn't doubt Rizwans' intentions...

Pakistanis want to score their Hindutva goals

Your post was targeted at Pakistanis in general, not just at some of the posters on this forum. If your comment was targeted at Pakistani posters and not Pakistanis in general then you would've specified it by writing "Pakistani posters want to score their Hindutva goals".

Forgot to add to the above.

@Hextro, make sure you read post 325 with your eyes open this time, I know it can be hard but give it a go, you can do it bruh...
Last time I checked, Rizwan is a Pakistani, who shared his sympathies. Millions around the world did the same, but their intentions were pure, unlike Pakistanis in your "opinion".

Who are you to assume what the intentions of Pakistanis are when they comment on an issue that is completely unrelated to your country?

Even in the context of Pakistani posters on here, who are you to assume what their intentions may or may not be? "Most of them don't really care about the Palestinian issue", use your mind-reading ability for more productive activities, otherwise learn to mind your own business. Stretching things to infuse yourself into the conversation looks weak, especially when there are more important topics at hand.

This Rizwan saga has been eye-opening.

A Celtic fans' group will distribute Palestinian flags at Celtic Park, despite the move being condemned by the club.

The Green Brigade said they would hand out flags to supporters ahead of Wednesday's Champions League tie with Atletico Madrid.

Celtic have already banned the group from attending away games after they displayed the flags at recent matches.

It is expected the club will receive a fine if the display goes ahead.
As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues in the Middle East, Celtic fans have displayed Palestinian flags at recent games against Kilmarnock and Hearts.

The group previously reiterated its "unshakeable belief" that football supporters have the right to express political beliefs.
A statement released by the Green Brigade said the sanctions they had faced were "motivated by a desire to quash political expression within the Celtic support".

The statement continued: "In spite of this, and any further obstruction, we once again encourage fans to courageously fly the flag for Palestine."

The group said they would distribute "thousands" of flags outside Celtic Park ahead of the game despite being prohibited from bringing them into the stadium.

Celtic previously disassociated the club from the "entirely inappropriate" banners.

One of the club's players, 22-year-old Liel Abada, is from Israel and is being supported by the club as the conflict escalates.
Many Celtic fans have long had an affiliation with the Palestinian cause, with supporters displaying the country's national flag on a number of occasions.

In 2014, European football's governing body Uefa fined the club after fans waved Palestinian flags during a match against Iceland's KR Reykjavik.

Perhaps most controversially, the Green Brigade chose to display the flag once again during their team's 2016 Champions League qualifier against Israeli side, Hapoel Beer-Sheva - a move which landed the club a £8,600 fine.

Celtic were also fined more than £15,350 by Uefa after fans displayed an offensive anti-monarchy banner during a Champions League match last year.

Uefa said the fine was for showing a "provocative message of an offensive nature".

To many football supporters, their clubs are an extension of their beliefs.

Some fans are happy to follow the football alone, but others want to be associated with an entity where their views on other matters can be shared in solidarity, in the stands, supporters' buses or in social clubs.

It has been this way since working men first aligned themselves with the colours of their local village, town, or city's football club. But the globalisation of football, along with the globalisation of the media, has made that concept ever more difficult and sometimes extremely delicate.

Celtic Football Club has always prided itself on being open to all but as an organisation founded in the late 19th Century to help feed the poor, its core ethos has, understandably, been viewed as one aimed towards social justice and equality.

So how do fans, keen to share and promote those beliefs, express them in a world where politics and world events are so polarised and football authorities want nothing to do with any of it?

This is the backdrop to the ongoing dispute between the club and a section of its support who are determined to show support for Palestine. Celtic have already been fined on two separate occasions after some fans displayed Palestinian flags during Champions League matches.

The club has recently distanced itself from banners displayed by a section of its support, following the attacks by Hamas in Israel and both Uefa and Fifa are adamant that politics and football should never mix. In a game where money is king, sponsors don't want the controversy.

Those who want to use the club to convey their message are adamant they won't be silenced, though.

As ever, caught in the middle are those who want to leave the world behind for 90 minutes and concentrate solely on the football.

German football club Mainz 05 on Friday announced that they have ended Anwar El Ghazi's contract due to posts he made on social media about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

El Ghazi's contract was terminated by the club on Friday, citing "comments and posts from the player on social media," but it didn't provide any other information.

Correct me if I am wrong but more than 17 soldiers got killed in Pakistan in seperate incidents in last 24 hours. Does Rizwan consider them as his brothers and tweeted his concern about their deaths??

These social media posts from Muslim celebrities and athletes are useless and a reminder why the Muslim community has been unable to affect any significant change in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

It's all well and good to protest Israeli atrocities when major violence flares up every few years. However where's your voice in the intervening periods ?

The reason why the status quo has prevailed for 50+ years is because of the massive asymmetry of power between Israel and Palestinians. This can only be addressed by a formalised, prolonged, systematic lobbying effort to force Western Govts (esp the US) to use its leverage against Israel.

Tweets, TikTok videos and Instagram posts are no substitute for this.

The reason the West has been reluctant to use that leverage is because, as Barack Obama said his book, there's a domestic political cost to acting against Israel. There's little cost to ignoring the plight of Palestinians.

What's the Muslim/Palestinian equivalent of AIPAC or the British Board of Deputies ? How many Palestinians must die before the Muslim community produces more than futile condemnations ?

He supports them all day because he is in Pakistan?

I see the disingenuous stuff here. How can we somehow discredit support for Palestinians.

Lagay raho bhai - we can see through this.

Good that you can see through so perhaps you can enlighten me as well because honestly I am still confused that is it a religious war or territorial war.

Two of Villarreal's players refused to take part in a minute's silence ahead of their Europa League clash with Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, as Palestinian victims were not honoured.

It was the first time that Maccabi have played since 1,400 people were killed by Hamas terrorists in the attacks that took place last month. Since the Hamas attacks, more than 10,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli airstrikes.

Villarreal had said their players would be respecting victims on both sides of the Gaza strip conflict, but two of their stars decided not to take part in the silence because the home side were 'not honouring the lives' of the innocent Palestinian people who have died.

Algerian centre-back Aissa Mandi and Spanish winger of Moroccan descent Ilias Akhomach left the Villarreal line, with only nine of their players joining at the centre-circle to take part in the silence.

Australia to donate part of Palestine World Cup qualifier match fee for humanitarian efforts in Gaza

Australia will donate part of the match fee from their World Cup qualifier against Palestine to humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

The Socceroos' five-figure donation will be matched by Football Australia.

Australia coach Graham Arnold said preparations for Tuesday's fixture have been "quite stressful" against the backdrop of the Israel-Gaza conflict.

The match was scheduled to take place in the West Bank but officials switched the venue to Kuwait.

More than 1,200 people have been killed in a series of attacks launched by Hamas in Israel with around 240 taken as hostages, while Gaza health authorities say more than 11,000 have been killed in the territory.

Palestine played their first match since the start of the conflict on Thursday, a 0-0 draw against Lebanon in Sharjah.

The last time Palestine played at home was against Saudi Arabia in 2019.

Arnold called the conflict "horrific" but stressed his team must focus on the football.

"With everything that's going on in the Middle East at the moment it's been quite stressful for me and just making sure that everything [preparation] is great," he said.

"What we do have control over is our performance and playing against Palestine and going out and getting the job done for Australia.

"Obviously we are very sympathetic for everyone with what's going on, but again, it's a game of football and that brings a lot of joy to everybody."

Australia, ranked 27th in the world and fourth in Asia, sit top of their qualifying group following a 7-0 win over Bangladesh on Thursday while world number 96 Palestine are third.

Leicester defender Harry Souttar, who opened the scoring for Australia against Bangladesh, said the team must be professional in Kuwait and put aside their emotions.

"Obviously we know kind of what's going on for both sides, it's horrendous," said Souttar.

"I'm not going to stand here and give a political view, but all I can say is we will be going into that focusing on purely the game and nothing else.

"We know that Palestine are going to be right up for it. We know that they're going to be playing for a lot more than just football."

Pakistani hearts bleed more for Palestinians than their own country men. I never saw any social media messages from the likes of Rizwan over the killings of Shias or Ahmadis in Pakistan. Unless their outrage on killings of their own country men are suppressed deliberately, outsiders can see the double standards.

Every tragedy deserves to be condemned.

Whether it's in Indian Occupied Kashmir, Gujrat, Pakistan - and good of you to highlight that.

Totally agree on that. But the most vocal outrage in Muslim world is only for Palestinian cause. We don't see such outrage when the killings are Muslims on Muslims. Never saw any protests in Europe over Yemen crisis or Sudan war killings or even Shia-Sunni violence which is an ongoing one. It clearly shows the outrage is there only when the killer is a non-muslim. Otherwise, the muslim world simply turns a blind eye or just offers minor lip service.

My suggestion is that you drop this topic.

There is a time and place.

Thousands of my fellow Muslims have been killed and we are in no mood to entertain apologists for murderers.

Great gesture from Australia, England and others need to take note of this. For this alone , I will be hoping they smash India on Sunday.

So many people are now aware of Zionism and its evil, its a game changer in terms of understanding the oppression.

If you know anyone who is not aware, please give them the information esp if you live in the west.

FIR filed against man who ran to pitch in ‘Free Palestine’ T-shirt during World Cup final

As per the FIR, "At around 3.30 pm a spectator seated in the gallery tried to jump the barricade and when I and my staff tried to stop him, he pushed us and jumped the barricade onto the ground when the Indian side was batting".

An investigation was initiated and an FIR lodged against 24-year-old Sydney resident Wen Johnson for allegedly invading the pitch at the Narendra Modi stadium in Motera when the ICC Men’s World Cup final match between India and Australia was on.

Johnson was booked under the IPC sections 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to any person being a public servant in discharge of his duty) and 447 (criminal trespass) based on a complaint lodged by police sub-inspector TR Akbari.

As per the FIR, “At around 3.30 pm a spectator seated in the gallery tried to jump the barricade and when I and my staff tried to stop him, he pushed us and jumped the barricade onto the ground when the Indian side was batting”.

Akbari who is posted at the Kalupur police station, was deployed at Motera on match duty.

Akbari has said in his complaint that when he was caught by the security personnel and asked why he did that, he said “I am a big fan of Virat Kohli”. Inspector Virajsinh Janaksinh Jadeja has been assigned the probe in the case, as per the FIR.

An FA Council member who wrote on social media that "Adolf Hitler would be proud of Benjamin Netanyahu" has resigned.

Wasim Haq was suspended by the FA last week for the post on X, which was subsequently deleted.

The post about the Israeli president was made in reference to Israel's ongoing war with Hamas.

"I have determined that this is the best course of action for the FA and myself," said Haq on social media.

In his letter to FA chair Debbie Hewitt, Haq added: "Recent events have left me bereft of energy and hope. I have felt overwhelmed at how this has transpired.

"As someone who has worked closely with many Jewish people over the years and created meaningful and valued friendships, the most painful part of this process is knowing that some of those friends and colleagues may not forgive me for the misunderstanding and hurt I have unintentionally caused.

"I take full responsibility and reiterate my apology to them and all those affected."

The Lawn Tennis Association removed him as one of its council members last week over the post.

The FA Council is a body with representatives from throughout football in England, from the Premier League through to grass roots organisations.

Haq joined the council as a BAME Football Communities Representative in 2019.

Is criticizing Netanyahu anti-Semitic?

There is no freedom of speech in Europe or Canada, the US still has some due to its constitution but the patriot act can be used, which destroys all freedoms. Zionists own the UK, the politicians especially. In the last 20 years, many laws have been introduced to silence people. If those laws dont work, they will use other means to attack and silence them.

You know the world is at its lowest point, when calling to stop genocide gets your fired from your job or forces you to resign.

Why did he delete the tweet? Why did he have to resign?

Is criticizing Netanyahu anti-Semitic?

Indian-heritage tory MP Suella Braverman was trying to get "From the river to the sea" banned as an anti-semitic chant before she was eventually sacked, but that should tell you how difficult it is to criticise the Zionists in the UK. Support for Israei is unconditional in this country, our PM has admitted as much when he said there was no question of balance, we are with Israel all the way.

Young batting tyro David Teeger’s comments at the ABSA Jewish Achievers Awards Ceremony on 26 October will be the subject of an independent inquiry led by seasoned legal head Advocate Wim Trengove, Cricket South Africa announced on Sunday.

Teeger, the South Africa Under-19 captain who also leads his provincial side, Gauteng, at the same age-group level, told the South African Jewish Report last month that he dedicated his award to the Israeli soldiers engaged in the Israel/Palestine conflict that started on 7 October.

"Yes, I’ve been (given) this award, and yes, I’m now the Rising Star, but the true rising stars are the young soldiers in Israel," Teeger said at the time.

Teeger’s comments were flagged by the Palestine Solidarity Alliance, who then laid a complaint with CSA and the Central Gauteng Lions.

Statement by CSA

JOHANNESBURG: The Board of Cricket South Africa (CSA) met in Johannesburg yesterday and considered a complaint from the Palestine Solidarity Alliance with respect to comments reported to have been made by Mr David Teeger, captain of the SA U19 team, on the occasion of the ABSA Jewish Achievers Awards Ceremony on 26 October 2023.

The Board resolved to appoint an independent enquiry to be adjudicated by Adv Wim Trengove SC to determine whether Mr Teeger breached either the CSA or Central Gauteng Lions Codes of Conduct.

The enquiry will be conducted expeditiously and the decision of Adv Trengove as well as his reasons will be made public. CSA will not comment further on the matter until the conclusion of the enquiry.

He is too young to comment on sensitive issues. He should focus on the game instead of getting into any controversy at this age and stage.

Azam khan has recently been fined 50% of his domestic match fee by pcb just for sticking a palestian flag sticker on his bat. What rubbish! Extremely despicable act. Pcb has done so quoting ICC rules. Well you don't get banned when you promote different brands even alcoholic brands on your jersies and bats. But icc & pcb can't tolerate this innocuous support of palestinian people. Ridiculous.

Celtic fined for fans displaying Palestinian flag amid Israel-Gaza war

Scotland’s Celtic Football Club has been fined $19,000 after its fans waved Palestinian flags during a Champions League match against Atletico Madrid last month, UEFA has said.

The match, which took place at the club’s home ground Celtic Park in Glasgow, saw thousands of fans wave the Palestine flag and display banners supporting the people of Gaza amid Israel’s war on the besieged strip.

The governing body of football in Europe deemed the flags to be “provocative messages of an offensive nature” in a statement on Wednesday.

Fans, who had been warned by the Scottish club not to display flags before the October 25 game, could be heard singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” while holding the Palestinian flags in a video shared widely on social media.

As kickoff neared, the stadium transformed into a sea of Palestinian flags, every stand awash with the colours of Palestine in a show of solidarity with those in Gaza under Israeli assault.

Supporters also unfurled two large banners at Celtic Park that read “Free Palestine” and “Victory to the Resistance”.

The main flag bearers, literally and figuratively, were the Green Brigade – an “ultras” group formed in 2006, renowned for their Irish Republicanism and unflinching support for the Palestinian cause.

Fearful of penalties, the club urged fans not to heed the Green Brigade’s call to show support for Palestine at the match, releasing a statement asking “that banners, flags and symbols relating to the conflict and those countries involved in it are not displayed at Celtic Park at this time”.

A few days prior to the match, in an apparent warning to the group, Celtic banned the Green Brigade from all away games. Following the display against Atletico Madrid, that ban has been extended to all home games.

In a letter to fans, the club outlined several reasons for the ban, including anti-social behaviour, the use of pyrotechnics and crucially “against Atletico Madrid, another unauthorised display, breaching the restrictions previously communicated”.

The club was also fined $12,550 for fans blocking passageways and using pyrotechnics.

For the Green Brigade, there is little doubt that it was the display of solidarity with Palestine which led to a ban on their attendance.

“The other issues are a smokescreen,” the Green Brigade told Al Jazeera earlier this month.

“The club are very clever and cynical. They want to sanction us, they want to punish us. They want to send us a message to try to keep us in line and deter us from doing further action.

“But they know very well that on the issue of Palestine, they’re not on strong ground as they don’t have a lot of support amongst the wider fanbase on that issue. So they’re using other issues that they think they will have support on to sanction us.”

The group said they were “unashamed of and unequivocal of our support for Palestine” and insisted that it will continue.

“And once again the wider Celtic support showed that they too had the courage and conviction to stand and be counted. To side with the right side of history and voice support for the underdog, which in this case is the Palestinians.”

Supporting Palestine is a crime nowadays. This hypocrisy will continue as the world will kept its eye shut for such conflicts.

Unpopular opinion: But Azam should be fined.
Be political off the pitch, on the pitch, stick to cricket; otherwise, it opens the door for so much distractions on the field.

Good to see that some sanity prevailed in the end. Actually, pcb shouldn't have done it in the first place.
