Saud is high quality man. Beautiful player to watch batI think you and I were watching two different games buddy.
Rizwan can only hit in the corner of the groundEven though he had a bad Test series in Australia, I still have faith in him after how amazing he batted in Sri Lanka on those spinning pitches. In T20, we already have plenty of anchor type batsmen, many of which who do the role better than Saud will so he does not warrant a spot in that format.
And which 100s did Babar score in the WC and AUS tour? Babar is so so overrated.what you talking about bro babar and riz are much better than this guy
this guy is just a fraud who is just good enough on flat pitches in international people gonna target him with short ball
we saw what happened in wc and aus tour
This +1000Saud is high quality man. Beautiful player to watch bat
Because he scores more runs at a better strike rate.Rizwan can only hit in the corner of the ground
Saud has shots all around the park
How is Rizwan playing the anchor role better than Saud??
Also the Rizwan comparison does not make much sense since Rizwan plays as a wicket keeper batsmen - of which he is the best in the history of Pakistan.Rizwan can only hit in the corner of the ground
Saud has shots all around the park
How is Rizwan playing the anchor role better than Saud??
He can replace IfthikharSaud Shakeel has been named the captain of SNGPL for the President's Cup starting from tomorrow. This guy has the potential to lead the national side. Just needs a bit of experience and grooming and we have a good middle order batter who can captain as well.
Mentally weak. Threw away good starts all throughout the World Cup, despite being in good form.Saud Shakeel has been named the captain of SNGPL for the President's Cup starting from tomorrow. Yep he looked good until he scored 20+ runs and then he just thought that my work was done. I am out.Mentally weak. Threw away good starts all throughout the World Cup, despite being in good form.
Exposed in Australia aswell.
Prefer Agha Salman to Saud. Salman looks to have better temperament aswell as the hunger to improve.Yep he looked good until he scored 20+ runs and then he just thought that my work was done. I am out.
Even in PSL, salman did good, Saud just has 1 good inning and rest is just not up to the mark.Prefer Agha Salman to Saud. Salman looks to have better temperament aswell as the hunger to improve.
Saud is just too meek and doesn't have the right attitude towards international cricket.
Saud averages higher then rizwan and has a 141 sr while rizzu was stuck at 122 in psl? Why isn't anyone mentioning that saud was 10x superior to rizzu?Even in PSL, salman did good, Saud just has 1 good inning and rest is just not up to the mark.
He is a perfect middle order batter. Why spoil him as an opener in tests.I was was wondering should we not try Saud Shakeel as opener in test? So the potential XI goes as this:
Saud Shakeel
Abdullah Shafique
Shan Masood
Babar Azam
Mohammad Rizwan
Salman Agha
Aamir Jamal
Shaheen Afridi
Naseem Shah
Mir Hamza
Abrar Ahmed
Because i want to get rid of Imam & Saim.He is a perfect middle order batter. Why spoil him as an opener in tests.
Imam is already out of picture and Saim has played just 1 game that too on a difficult tour of Australia.Because i want to get rid of Imam & Saim.
Australia turned Langer into an opener, Hitman was not an opener originally. There are a few examples out there.
Saud is technically sound and has a chance to succeed.
Saim has proven he is not cut for international cricket at the moment. I would forget him for the next 2-3 years. Let me sweat and score a ton of runs in domestic cricket.Imam is already out of picture and Saim has played just 1 game that too on a difficult tour of Australia.
We might have toi get rid of Saud soon if he plays as an opener.
This would be a very Pakistan cricket thing to do. Take a player impressing in his natural position as a middle order batsman make him open, destroy his confidence and then watch him disappear for ever. Personally when you have natural openers who can be tried, then you leave the middle order where they are if successful.I was was wondering should we not try Saud Shakeel as opener in test? What is your proposed test opener pair for this year? This would be a very Pakistan cricket thing to do. Definitely Abdullah Shafique and then either Abid Ali if he's fully recovered or a younger opener to invest in like Mohammad Hurraira. What is your proposed test opener pair for this year?
Abid Ali is a terrific slip fielder but a below average batter at international level. I have seen him play and record suggest he is not the right guy.Definitely Abdullah Shafique and then either Abid Ali if he's fully recovered or a younger opener to invest in like Mohammad Hurraira.
I think you might be mixing up Abid Ali with Imran Butt. Abid Ali was a very solid opening bat until he needed surgery.Abid Ali is a terrific slip fielder but a below average batter at international level. I have seen him play and record suggest he is not the right guy.
Hurraira is a very young kid with potential, but exposure to international cricket so early in his career is very risky.
Oh sorry my bad. You are right. Totally forgot about Abid Ali. He was doing a decent job actually before he fell ill.I think you might be mixing up Abid Ali with Imran Butt. Abid Ali was a very solid opening bat until he needed surgery.
I'd also rather invest in a young opener than ruin a player who is already proving to be really good in the middle order.
He was the third highest run scorer in the last first class tournament he played recently but with a fairly low strike rate. Never watched the tournament so I can't tell if he's back to his previous level or not.Oh sorry my bad. You are right. Totally forgot about Abid Ali. He was doing a decent job actually before he fell ill.
Has he been doing well in domestic cricket?
He could be a god T20 batter as he already proved while playing for Quetta GladiatorsSaud should stick to middle order. Don't wanna spoil the number he has been playing at and looked good as well. He needs to score beyond 20s and 30s though.
Bingo! He is a key batsmen for pakistan.
He and Abdullah shafiq are the future for pakistan and I back them.
Pakistan desperately needs to back salman Ali agha, Saud shakeel, Tayyab tahir, Omair bin yousaf and shabzada farhan
Saud Shakeel, with the added responsibility of captaincy of Pakistan Shaheens against Bangladesh, has flourished further in his game, scoring 76 (132) to help his team secure a dominant position on Day 2.
Saud is such a classy batsmen
He looks so composed while batting, never gives you the feeling that he might throw his wicket away soon.Saud is such a classy batsmen

he is the only batsman in Test team on which Pakistan can rely
He has a fantastic pull shot for chest height, I think you mean above chest height. He's very good in asain conditions but anything that bounce chest height he looked very vulnerable.
He's a gem for pakistan but ik pakistan will ruin him.How would you rate the fitness of Saud Shakeel? He seems super fit.
Look, if you're going to be unrealistic and think he has no flaws and compare him to ATG's then no dice.Saud's game towards point is also questionable. But he is a good player overall. PCB made a good decision to make him vice-captain.
Bro, None of our batsmen have ever been good in Australia lol. Even the best of the best have been avg in those conditionsGood in Subcontinent, West Indies, Zimbabwe, New Zealand, England conditions but an absolute no no in Australia and South Africa

Fair but he's an outlier. But still fairIjaz Ahmed says hi
While their overall records there may be average, Inzamam, Yousuf, Younis, Azhar Ali, even Asad Shafiq have centuries in Australia. Saud looked hopeless out hereBro, None of our batsmen have ever been good in Australia lol. Even the best of the best have been avg in those conditions
You're comparing ATG's or good players In test with a wealth of experience to a guy who's played only 11 tests? While their overall records there may be average, Inzamam, Yousuf, Younis, Azhar Ali, even Asad Shafiq have centuries in Australia. Saud looked hopeless out here
Saud Shakeel brings up his seventh Test fifty, showing patience and composure at the crease
It is a shame the don never got a chance to see him play.Extremely solid and promising young talent. Average in mid 60s in tests only second to Marhoom Sir Don Bradman himself.
On track to become the greatest Pakistani batter ever.
It is a shame the don never got a chance to see him play.
god of cricket watches hockey when Pakistan play so may never get the opportunity to see Saud. He’s lucky that the God of cricket is still alive and can see him bat.
If he is playing well it doesn't mean to make him captainProper test batsman. You can see his technique the minute he starts batting. Future test captain.
He’s VC being groomed for future captaincy. If he is playing well it doesn't mean to make him captain
He should be the Test captain sooner rather than later. But he must score heavily and show leadership when battingHe’s VC being groomed for future captaincy.
Steve Waugh couldn't pull the ball for the last 10 years of his career. Not all the shots are for all the players. The guy can't play the cut shot to pacers if his life depended on it. The Australians identified this deficiencies and set him up well.
He is a great talent could work on that. If he does then could become next PCT captain soonThe guy can't play the cut shot to pacers if his life depended on it. The Australians identified this deficiencies and set him up well.

very true! The guy can't play the cut shot to pacers if his life depended on it. The Australians identified this deficiencies and set him up well.
Agreed but our batsman aren't brought on bouncier tracks so cutting and pulling are much more difficult. Waugh was tough Saud needs to work within his technical limitations and still be successful. Not everyone has the mental toughness and grit of Steve Waugh. Waugh had the discipline to face 300 balls but avoid playing the hook and pull because he knew he was never good at it, he would put a price on his wicket but Pakistani batters in contrast do not have the same toughness or quality.
