[PICTURES/VIDEOS] The "cobra 'naagin' dance" celebration...

Its Nagin dance and has been popular in Indian wedding since ages.

Uglier than Ahmad Shahzad's batting, Steven Smith's bating stance, Virat Kohli's bowling action.Enough said

Looks pretty ugly and 'tapori-chaap' to me. However, whatever makes one happy I guess.

Has to be the least impressive but one of the funniest celebrations seen recently tbh. They have this angry expression on their faces, and shake their hips like dancing to a Bollywood song. Most unlikely combo since Peter Siddle and veganism.

Yes but that’s not what they look for in a potential son-in-law these days.

I m loving this cobra dance. This single dance has made this pointless and boring t20 tournament a spicier one. :108: :108:

But why this celebration thought? What does it signify?

It's an embarrassingly funny celebration. Looks super cheap, but it's funny if you lose.

Happy for bangladeshi win, specially that "cobra dance "celebration..we have seen West indies players gangnam dance before .But i think this cobra dance beats everything.Your thoughts please...

:))) :)))

That can be signature Bangla move when they lose from a winning position ....all they can do then is snake dance:yk

A srilankan player did something similar to that after winning the series against bangladesh. Now Bangladesh is doing the same. It's just for fun, nothing serious.

That's grim.

Besides, I thought they were supposed to be the "Tigers" and not snakes.

Yes but that’s not what they look for in a potential son-in-law these days.

Probably not, but hey who knows what in over in Bangladesh. I can imagine their fans thinking this is the greatest thing ever. Had a Bangladeshi friend of mine on Facebook wax lyrical about how amazing it is, just moments ago.

I liked it so much I made it my avatar.

This user name

That just brought tears to my eyes.

This avatar too

long live humor. i hope this is the second coming of the lighter side of cricket on pp

Vindictive, as always. Probably haven’t got over that “no-ball” yet and now we have a new “no-ball” for them to get over.

It's embarrassing, especially when you have a man-child like Mushfiqur doing it.

Shouldn't do it for the sake of doing it, maybe after 2-3 pegs it would look better from Bangla bros.

minnow level celevrations... it will take them a few decades to discover THE DAB...

From what I understand this is that new spinner Nazmul Islam Opu's signature celebration after he gets a wicket. When Sri Lanka toured Bangladesh last month a few of their players mocked the celebration. Even today Akila Dananjaya did it to spite the Bangladeshi players after Shakib's wicket fell.

There is already heat between the two sides due to Chandika Hathurusinghe who had a lot unsavoury things to say about the Bangladeshi players when he left especially about seniors such as Shakib and Mushfiqur. So my guess was that Mushfiqur aimed that at Hathurusinghe after he hit the winning runs and that's why the aggressive manner of the celebrations.

Hathurusinghe is possibly the worst coach ever. Bad mouthing his previous employer, blatantly telling that he would use his knowledge from the coaching stint against them. Would chuck him out of the SL set up if I was the SLCB head.

Mate u know what, ppl who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. I still see plenty of Indian fans to cry about the bad umpiring in 2007/08 Australian series and how they were robbed of a series win.

Indian fans were so ****** off that many angry supporters back at home burned the effigy of S. buckner and his Co umpire and BCCI as usual flexed its muscles to force ICC to replace buckner(who supposedly made decisions that went against India) with another umpire. Have a good day. :)

They were all doing it after the win. Gotta be some history behind it.

Apu (Nazmul) actually do the Cobra dance after taking wicket. In recent series, after winning against BD, I heard Lankan players mocked BD players with that dance - now it's pay back time :)

LOL HIS FACE :)))

Best dance on the field I've ever seen since Younis in 2015 WC.

Shouldn't do it for the sake of doing it, maybe after 2-3 pegs it would look better from Bangla bros.

It looks downright cheap and pathetic. Only people I have come across doing such dance were the tapori types in weddings.

Going on for ages in Indian weddings.. Probably Sridevi made it famous from her naagin movies.. Good on Bangla boys to have fun..

It's great :)))) I like this extra fiesty version of BD, they need to show this side against other Test Members as well

A T20 Tri-series, against a weakened Indian side, and a struggling SL side. It was a nondescript T20 match, for goodness sake. The celebrations were embarrassing and pathetic.

It also shows the mentality of these group of players where they start thinking they've been wronged, and throw their proverbial toys out the pram.

I am seriously short of words how to describe it.

In t20,NO. they were and are one of the best in this format

Oh seriously are these guys are for real? The worst celebration I have see. It's so lame

We play like a tiger and celebrate like a Cobra. Very unique and Interesting combo.

The information I am getting that, probably this celebration is reserved for SRL only. In future, either it’ll end or come back only against SRL - reason mentioned in my earlier post. The inside information is that, Hathura joining SRL, immediately after leaving BD job, knew BD players too closely - he instigated Lankan players to mock BD players, some of them picked the celebration from Nazmul AND it worked indeed.

Personally, I don’t mind any such gesture or body language which is universally accepted as offensive, vulgar or symbolic. I have seen players mimicking many such facial impressions or body movements which was/is perfectly acceptable - for me, than using middle finger. Old West Indian team was famous for copying in dances & they were dam good at that - and I enjoyed them equally as their cricket; never felt anything wrong or disgusting when a 6’9” man is doing Waltz in front of whole stadium with his 6’4” team mate.

I am sure, this Nagin dance would have been accepted as well, unless it was Bangladesh. For example, Lankans started this at Dhaka & going by the post in those game threads, it suggests many here had seen those games indeed - BD lost, so no reason to miss the fun. But, either they didn’t notice it as it was from Lanka or didn’t feel they need to put a judgement there, again as it was Lanka.

That tells me that, it’s a problem with Bangladesh, not the Nagin celebration; which is unfortunate - it doesn’t reflect a good taste to be honest.

Yup i get that. Srilankan Snake imitation was just with hands. But the whole body movements really put everyone off. They should have tried mongoose celebration as snake's main rival is mongoose.

Some people post negatively about everything.. I remember some posters were criticising pak team when they did push ups on England after winning first test.. People here seem to be too ashamed of doing anything and seem their life revolves around how others will judge them if they do something..

Good thing is BD players don’t give a damn about such people and are enjoying and having fun so kudos to them..

Bro, these are cricketers, Madhuri Dixit thori hai.

Tiger, cobra, mongoose..... if you keep asking for more, they’ll forget what little cricket these guys have learned.

They're a struggling side. A T20 format doesn't hide that fact. Any team can beat another without playing their best, that's why T20s are so lucrative and at times exciting to watch too.

Gone are the days of - float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.

It’s now modified to - bat like tigers, dance like a snake.

You know Mahamadulla jumped in the air with fisting. That is the celebration that i would enjoy. Not these ill conceived cobra dance even it was meant to be a payback. It just looked awful. Neverthless now that they have settled score with SL, hope they stop doing that not carrying this as a tradition.

More nefarious than the Ishant Sharma banging his head, Sreesanth doing bhangra and Bhajji slapping Sreesanth.

You have to dig decade old incidents to prove your point and justify recent childish behaviour of elite BD players, no wonder why most neutrals dislike BD cricket team

but thats the difference between the players and the fans though. Indian team filed complaints through official channels. Here the players themselves are acting immature and like children

Btw, am loving the nagin dance. Its brought life into a boring series
