What did Konstas say? I have never seen Bumrah get this riled up.

Personally, I don't have any issue with this kind of stuff. Makes things more heated and fun to watch. As long as there isn't any physical contact I am fine with this kind of verbal back-and-forth.

Has to be said though that Konstas has managed to get under the skin of the Indians. You can see that when you see Bumrah reacting this way. And Bumrah is generally very calm and someone who according to himself, does not believe in sledging. That said, Bumrah got the last laugh at the end of the day with the wicket of Khawaja.

I don't understand why people here are taking shots at Konstas? If anything he should be applauded for having the guts and confidence to stand up to the best fast-bowler in the world. He showed that on debut as well when he gave Bumrah quite a smacking. Bumrah is obviously Bumrah and there isn't even a comparison between the two. But for a 19 year old playing his second test match to stand up and poke the beehive like that...it takes guts. Especially knowing that doing so will basically paint a target on your back.

"Mental disintegration" was introduced to cricket by Aussies. Playing with ego of players. Some handle wel. Some don't. For instance Shubman Gill right before facing the last ball before lunch Smith used expletives indicating that Gill was wasting time. Gill turned back and angrily said something back to Smith. He lost his mind right there. Next ball in a bizaarre fashion started walking out to Lyon. And ironically edged the ball to Smith. Australia simply bought a wicket there just by disturbing his concentration.

In a similar fashion Constas was constantly chirping at Jaiswal in the last Test. Suddenly Jaiswal started throwing kitchen sink. Moment you allow these things to get to you you don't play the ball. You just play to your ego. LUckily he didn't edge.

Sometimes it may backfire as well. Most painful backfiring happened when Kohli needlessly sledged Bairstow. Chasing 377 in 4th innings they were in a pickle. After the sledging Bairstow brutalized Siraj. At the SCG Tim paine kept telling Ashwin "Can't wait to see you at the Gabba" suggesting INdia will lose for certainty. It backfired as well.

To me PUjara's method is best. Just keep focusing on the next ball. THey sledged him right through 2018 series. He did not lose his concentration one bit. Hope these youngsters learn how to handle sledging.

BGT. Kohli. Bumrah. Rohit. Konstas.

These are all the top topics lol.

Pakistan literally have a series in SA where they have not won a match for the longest time and are heading towards their 20th consecutive loss.

Where are the threads on Rabada, Jansen, Naseem Shah etc lol

It adds to the spice. Almost every BGT series has some of this. Remember Pant's comment about TIm paine "Temporary captain" lol

Bumrah is from that school of thought as well. This was an aberration from him, otherwise he is generally very calm and cool. And he is a fast-bowler, someone who you expect to be aggressive.

Yeah, it can go both ways. Some players become even more fueled by it, whereas, others lose their concentration because of it. Though most fall in the latter category. Especially the younger players. I don't care how old you are though, when you are playing at this level you should have better sense. It's such an obvious way to throw your wicket away.

Btw, I wouldn't frame yesterday's incident as Smith "using expletives" at Gill. He just said "this is B.S, let's get on with it", which for some reason Gill took very personally. I have seen Australians say 100 times worse things to other players. Particularly the 2000s team. Sometimes it was just an endless barrage of cuss words. But point is that as a batsman you should know better than to be affected by something like this. This is international cricket, not your gully mohalla cricket league.

Jimmy Anderson did the same to Jaiswal. Constantly having a go at him in India. Ofcourse Jimmy was in the middle of a good spell. Jaiswal was losing patience even got out once. Then the next innings he patiently batted. When the time came he whacked Jimmy around. 42 year old Jimmy sledged 21 year old Jaiswal as he knew he was the best batsman out there from India. He had to disturb his concentration. I think age shouldn't matter if you think you can buy a wicket. Wicket is a wicket. 21 year old or 19 year old. It doesn't matter. So i don't mind Indians having a go at Constas while batting as long as you can back it up.

Yup. Should be fun tomorrow. You just know that Bumrah and the Indians will be buzzing when he's batting. I don't think this battle is in favor of Konstas. But if he can land a few blows to Bumrah in particular, the crowd will be roaring him on.

i dont mind if its a verbal spat but making it physical contact to provoke someone is not a wise thing to do on the field.

Physical contact has no place. Let us not compare Kohli's "fake"aggression with instinctive aggression of Bumrah. Kohli does this mainly to say "I am also here playing in this match".

He has the license to fail. So he will go after. He has a very vastly experienced middle order and capable lower order to make up for his failure unlike India where each wicket is worth its weight.

I meant in terms of the personal battle. It's more likely that he will get his middle-stump uprooted after hitting a couple of audacious shots. But overall, yes, if he can even get 30-40 quick runs, it will make a big impact on the match.

Also Bumrah himself showed just blocking against 125 k bowlers is not going to do any good which is what Pant was doing unusually. Since India is collapsing a lot in the last 6 or 7 tests they are terrified of attacking now. Australia has a lot of fall back options. I expect everyone Smith, Head coming out aggressively. May be Labu will play slowly.

The Indians did not have a clear plan in mind on how to approach this pitch. The fact that they chose to bat first in overcast conditions with so much grass on the pitch tells you how clueless they were. All the top order bats had a woeful approach on this pitch. Clearly past defeats in this series have played a part but again, when you are playing at this level, you should have that clarity of mind. Also feel that Pant has likely been ostracized by Gambhir and co. for his approach, which is why he is not trusting his natural game as much. While Pant's approach in this series deserves be questioned, if there was ever a place for him to play his natural game, this was it.

For me, Australia have already won this match. Because they have won mentally. India are just not there. It will take a special individual effort from someone like Bumrah to rescue them. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Some random scoops and swearing isn't enough to say he has Bumrah rattled.

When your team batting rely on first time tourists 23 year old Jaiswal, 21 year old Reddy this is what happens. Gill is making his third tour. Kohli's 5th tour. Pant's 3rd tour. I can forgive Pant given that he comes back after injury. But Kohli holding onto the key spot in Test without contribution is simply abominable. He keeps exposing middle order to relatively newish ball. Rahul tapered as usual. Rohit pushing him down the roder didn't exactly help the cause. This has to be one of the weakest batting line up ever to tour Australia.

Virat Kohli and Bumrah should also realise that he is a young guy... so showing aggression against him wont make them superior.
Ahhhhh i see some change in tone but where was you when Starc was sledged Jaiswal but when jaiswal had returned the favour than some posters were talking about jaiswal personal life like about selling the pani puri etc .

Then you should have not realised that Jaiswal is a young guys?

:kp

was there any physical contact during sledging?

how so?

As usual Indians exagerating.

You are saying that Bumrah doesnt bowl well and only started to bowl well after Kontas made fun of him?
Are you blind or what?

When bumrah ready to bowl , khawaja was taking extra time twice( for a ball) Although he was ready to face the ball , bumrah ask him what you doing man ? But why the hell idiots constas goes towards bumrah and showed unnecessary agreesion ?

But you wont get it because you're blind to see it

:shh :kp

when you rile up Bumrah, it means you did something. Aussie Media wants to protect their future star boy but Konstas is a shithouse of highest order.I am all for having the dog but other's reserve it too.

:kp

Kohli's performance in this series has truly been inexcusable. His century in the first test has ended up costing India much more heavily than anyone would have expected. With Rohit, the batting has been even worse but he atleast left himself out of this test and missed the first one. But yeah, when your best hope in the batting is a 23 year old on his first tour of Australia you know things are bad

Kohli and Rohit should both have the shame to retire after this test match, because if they don't I think it will be fairly embarrassing for them when they get dropped in the next series.

wow so that made Bumrah become extra potent? This isnt a bollywood movies fgs

Dunno about these two but man Khwaja is a bunny dismissed 5 times now?

Lol no one. The best batters against Bhumrah and India are the Kiwis especially Kane Williamson
Are you sure about kane? I don't think so

It's only latham who gets lucky alot

Kane is nothing special.

Jimmy sledged? I would have broken that dude in half. Stick man.

Super excited to see some more reverse scoops from Sam Constas to Bumrah. My gut is saying he will dominate him today like ice cream.

But still, Travis Head is on another level. The way he plays cut shots against Bumrah's bowling one just feels like grabbing some popcorn and watching those cut shots on repeat.

Travis is way better than Konstas....but the kid has better guts.
