If he is playing behind ashwin it shows how the team management thinks of his batting.
More evidence of your inability to analyze. Ashwin has recently been ranked the world's #1 all-rounder.

With time, Saha will win all of their hearts.
Not too long ago, people said there was not much difference between Saha and Parthiv's keeping (not that it was ever true). This is after Saha was in the international circuit for 1.5 years where his keeping was steady with rare screw ups. But from what we recently saw, Saha's keeping has become way better and right now, one could say he is head and shoulders above any keeper in the world (I don't recall anyone being better).
He ain't going anywhere. He has a lot of heart and I think the more he plays, the better he will perform with the bat.
Lets be really honest with his batting. He is a shocking batsman and a tailender.
His keeping is fantastic but he is a tailender.
However, he is a Tailender batsman. Cannot play spin or pace.
For the past 6 months our top order and middle order are scoring all the runs and Sah was scoring a few fifties with no pressure on him.
Well, I'm not impressed with Saha if you want me to be honest. He bats like a tailender and cannot be called a wicket-keep batsman.
Like I said previously, a mental fidgeting (while batting) midget
An old fashion player, concentrating on his first trade, keeping and he is the best. His batting is also more than useful and at par or better ( in tests ) than any WK at the moment. He is hard working and not a flamboyant player. Any team would be lucky to have a player like him.
Quite right you are SIF
Interesting that recently playing for ROI, Saha scored a double and Pujara a single. This test we have it reversed, hope their partnership is winning again.
I man one of those critics of Saha, but I give credit to him for this innings. He was determined not to throw his wicket away and the influence of Pujara has rubbed on him.
This is a dead wicket with nothing for pacers and spinners. He only thing that Saha had to weather was pressure and he did it wonderfully.
I still stand by my words. Saha cannot play good bowling attacks on slightly helpful conditions.
Once India starts touring, he will look like a walking wicket. So far in this series he has been impressive.
Think that's a bit optimistic, De Kock and Bairstow are clearly a decent distance ahead right now.

What the heck did Baisstow achieve in the last series against India anyway? Got smashed like the rest of the English batsmen on their way to a 4-0 series loss.
If he turned a game around like Pujara and Saha just did then you would have an argument, you have none at this point.
Saha without a doubt has got great temperament.
Also not sure I'd be calling averaging over 40 in your first series as a keeper in Asia whilst carrying out a very respectable jobs with the gloves as 'getting smashed' from a batsmans point of view.
Need I remind you that the result was 4-0. Averages mean little when you are not even able to rescue your team on one occasion from the smashing. On the other hand, when Saha came in to bat yesterday India was staring at defeat and a probable series loss. When he left today India was going for the Test and series win.

And from that alone you genuinely believe Saha is a better batsman than Bairstow...?
Bairstow is class man.
He clicked in SA.
He played some clutch knocks against Pakistan in Eng.
Didn't look like a dummy in India. Looked competent but sometimes you don't kick on.
I would say he is the best batsman among keepers in the world. De Kock is the most ruthless though it remains to be seen how he will fare in different conditions.
From a Cricinfo article by Brettig "Pujara and Saha went on to a partnership that has redefined the match and possibly the series."
When was the last time Baristow played an innings of such consequence that it "redefined the match and possibly the series"?
Bairstow has a very good average of 42 for a wk. Saha's average is considerably lower, but over the last year he has matched Bairstow.
This one? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/1029825.html
Came in at 62/5, departed at 189/6 and saving England from what would have been an embarrassing defeat to Bangladesh.
Also whilst we're at in then I'll bite, when was the last time Kohli played an innings that redefined a match and the series?
Last 12 months :
Bairstow
14 games
1231 runs
Average 55.95
50% of games at home.
50% of games in Asia.
Saha
13 games
615 runs
Average 47.30
69% of games at home.
31% of games in the West Indies.

Dhoni with slow reflexes ! Are you sure you are actually watching Dhoni and not someone else?![]()
So what happens to Saha when he regains full fitness? He turns 34 very soon and Pant has started his test career with a bang so it’s not that far fetched to suggest Saha won’t play for India again.
Purely as a keeper he’s better than Pant imo however as a batsman he isn’t. Although having said that prior to his injury Saha had upped the batting a level when playing for the test side.
Though it seems unfair to Saha but he isn't coming back

the_outsider What do you think about Saha? I mean is it right to drop him after his injury?![]()
There's nothing unfair about it, it's not some 9-5 job but one position in entire country and the best lad should get selected. Infact would have been unfair to Pant had he not got the opportunity.
All the hype around Saha's keeping has been because he played 60% of his games in India and 80% in Asia so he never had to face any kind of challenging conditions. His batting meanwhile has been ordinary throughout.
Keeping in the SC is one of the hardest jobs for any wicketkeeper. I've seen the likes of Gilchrist struggle in India.
keeping or batting or bowling is always tougher in overseas conditions than home conditions. Gilchrist will always find it easier to keep in Australia than Asia because Australia is where he learnt keeping. Similarly, a Saha or a Pant will always find batting or keeping easier in India than anywhere else, because this is where they grew up and learnt their skills..
People seriously want saha? I would even prefer DK over this useless guy.
Nice to see him back in the team.
Saha is probably amongst the top three indian wicketkeeper ever(pure wktkeeping skills):
1.Saeed Kirmani
2.Farokh Engineer
3.Wriddhi saha
With all respect Syed Kirmani is our greatest glovesman till date .

Bad day for Pant fans. They were under the impression that Pant is a better wicketkeeper than Saha. They were glorifying even the regular catches which Pant was taking due to his poor form with the bat.![]()
Saha was sensational in this test...

I think India should stick with Saha in Test. Pant should be the LOI keeper.
Pant shouldn't be in Test side.

Reading articles helps. How many times/matches have you watched with Kirmani and Engineer keeping? Hope it's more than a couple of short clips on YouTube
Saha is a top keeper. No doubt. But his batting is terrible.

EVerything will be hunky dory when India piles on 500+ runs for fun on home pitches. However, in low scoring tests, Saha will be a huge burden on batting lineup. He simply cannot score enough runs to warrant a place in the team.
Sure Pant is not looking like a keeper batsman due to lack of batting. But same is with Saha. Both cannot bat. India should look towards someone like Samson.
Time of specialist keepers is gone. Just wait till India travels abroad and Saha will look like a huge burden on the batting lineup. Then they introduce some young keeper batsman and if he fails, they bring back Saha for domestic matches.
Time to think about future. If Saha is scoring 40's or 50's every other Test, He deserves a place in the Test squad. But he is far from that. He does not inspire any confidence when he is holding a bat.
Agree. Saha is a below average batsman. Fans will turn on him when his contributions with the bat when needed most are minimal. Another one of Kohli's Rayudu selections that he will regret later.

Lack of batting?
He averages 44+ in tests, this avg can change in the future but as of now its quite evident that he's played well.
How can u say something so naive, this guy won ICC emerging cricketer in 2018 and u cant win that without performing well.
Sanju Samson is very inconsistent his first class record is nowhere near and he wont get a chance in tests until he corrects it.
He said so because he may have seen the list of Emerging players who won that award in the past. I am sure you haven't seen it.
Here are some of the names who have won this prestigious award in the past :
Irfan Pathan
Kevin Pietersen
Ian Bell
Shaun Tait
Ajantha Mendis
Peter Siddle
Steve Finn
Devendra Bishoo
Sunil Narine
Cheteshwar Pujara
Gary Ballance
Josh Hazzlewood
Mustafizur Rahman
Hasan Ali
And your fav boy Rishabh Pant
Can you see the pattern in this list? 75% of them didn't emerge after winning this award. Most of them turned out to be average and couldn't survive in international cricket after winning it. Kindly don't use this award to justify his selection.![]()
