The signs are not good for Yasir Shah; Match after match in the previous and current series is exposing his inability to take wickets; He spent time with Mushtaq at the NCA and that was supposed to help but seems we are back to normal.

Now it could be argued that he does the best when given the cushion of a good score by our batsmen but the fact that he is not able to take wickets even during periods when we are in the driving seat.

So what is happening with Yasir?

Like most pakistan spinners he reached a peak maybe over a 2 year period, now hes been worked out and hasnt improved. Time for pakistan to move on.

Pak is always too slow in moving on or rotating the out of form players. Yasir was exceptional in UAE but was poor overseas and currently isnt looking in great form either. If he doesnt create an impact in the 2nd innings, Pak will have to move to other spinners while Yasir should go back to NCA and domestics to try to find his lengths back if he can.

DRS has made the need for an average leg spinner totally redundant. An average finger offers more because Batsman can't play with the pad before DRS and they offer more control. Yasir can't turn his leg spinner, his fingers are too far apart on the seam and he can't get the side spin needed.

He apparently has focused more on setting up his businesses outside of the game in the last few years wheras the PCB gave him instructions to improve his fitness and participate in domestic cricket to try to get his spot back in the team but Yasir Shah just basically decided to move on from Pakistan Cricket and walk away.
