i recently purchased a CA 12000 L.E off eBay for about 280 US dollars.
after reading through these forums i started to get worried if it was fake or not after reading about so many people buying fakes and getting ripped off. I'm not so bad since its through pay pal and the seller has a returns policy. these are the sellers photos he sent me before he posted the bat .if anyone could tell my if its fake or not that would be great . cheers

It looks fake to me. Pics 1 and 5 are different bats. The grainage doesnt look of trd quality either.

Looks authentic due to CA trademark burnt on the edges - although esthetically doesn't look like grade 1 willow - I could be wrong.

It looks like a CA bat but not a TRD--I am sure; the grains don't look like this on a TRD. Which seller did you buy this from mate?

Also the VIP mark is at a very odd position if my vision is correct.

Could you post some pictures of the handle? Also where is the toe-guard?

Definitely a CA bat BUT as zeusky bhai said it is not CA 12000 Plus TRD Limited Edition.

Going by the gold grip I reckon it is CA 8000 Plus.

It would be good if you can post toe guard picture and seller link page.

Yeah or a 5000 possibly; these fakes really make me go mad. If you paid by paypal there is still hope of getting your money back so no worries.

yea i brought it from ( lesspricerocky5 ) he has no more for sale thou. i contacted CA but they haven't emailed me back yet i told them i wasn't sure about if the bat was real and that i would send them photos. but anyway thanks for the replys ill just send it back to him and get my moneys back

OH! lesspricerocky!! I know that seller --- he should be spanked; fake; fake; fake; he has a few other appellations too like mnisar etc.

how do these people get away with this fraud fake counterfeit stuff makes me wonder. well i guess the old too good to be true saying comes in handy sometimes . never buying a bat off ebay ever again

280 dollars is still reasonable in the sense that it is not too far off from a normal price of a TRD which is something like 350-370 dollars, unless of course you are buying in Pakistan where it will be cheaper.

Sometimes these crooks give ads for a TRD costing something like 180-190---those are just ridiculous.

Here look at this one:

or this one:

Fight till the end man; dont let these thugs get away with cheating.

It is impossible to get a CA TRD LE for $150 because CA factory in Sialkot would not sell it for that much.

thanks for link zeusky im checking it out know :) might as well keep looking for a new cricket bat do you have any in mind worth getting

There are a hundred or more good bats out there mate; any particular you have in mind? What exactly are you looking for? Budget? Sweet Spot?

Try that website: the man's name is Basharat; tell him Cover Drive and Zeusky sent you and you will get a very good deal no doubt and more importantly, authentic stuff.

i guess a good all round bat i can grow into over time I'm only 19 so i want some time with a bat i can get use too before i buy again. i play on astro turf here to if that makes a difference and we use a 2 piece cricket ball. a bat with a nice sweet spot would be excellent

Well if budget is not a concern, you can with the GN Legend; astroturf means less bounce? Then probably you need one with lower sweet spot: GM Luna or even the Epic would be good; Newberry Krakatoa perhaps?

try cricketstoreonline.com or uzisports.co.uk for GN and GM--cheaper than what you Aussies spend.

You can't go wrong with TRD too; or value-wise AS V10 or V12 are good too; MB Bubber Sher perhaps. For Pakistani bats you can go to

sialkotshop.com or uzisports; Uzisports has a good collection of SS bats as well.

I dunno if this helps or not as your question was quite broad. Good luck!!

cheers for that zeusky. i know prices over here are a joke really . im liking MB bubber sher it looks really good. ill just look around and find one i really like thou. thanks for all your help today to everone it really puts my mind to ease knowing i just have to return it.

I wouldn't suggest you a Asian bat especially because you will be using it against two piece ball as Asian bats in general are softer pressed compared to English bats.

Since it is two piece ball I would still not recommend you a top end bat, I would say go for a mid range bat such as Gray Nicolls 5 Star range or GM 808 range.

Good point CD; totally forgot about that 2 piece ball; yep mid-range English bats would be the way to go.

He owes me a full detailed review on this forum too! So if you missed that bat then make sure you don't miss out the review at least :))

thanks CD might have to get it for a young player like myself and playing on astro turf what size would be OK the light or the medium or should i just pick the medium and just grow and get use to it ?

Nah I don't suggest heavy bats because they can affect your game. What weight do you currently use?

Light is from 2.7 to 2.9ish while Medium is like 2.10 to 2.12 I believe and anything over 2.12 is heavy

well funnily enough i don't own a cricket bat as such i just borrow my cricket teams bats when required i like to practice with a heavier bat though i seem to over swing or swing to fast with a lighter bat i guess a medium weight would be good

If you buy bats from Australia they will be expensive.

Congrats on your puma lad; please do a review of it here when you get the chance.

yea i nearly got it zeusky it doesn't state the size all it says is

It is taken for granted that it is a SH bat; they would state a LH clearly.

Is it possible for you to go to a cricket store and get feel of bats and decide on the weight then?

Haha its all good bro :)

I agree with you, for that then Kinetic is best bat, and if you happen to play on high nounce pitches Kinetic won't disappoint you. My friend has Kinetic and it is lovely bat!

yea same i hope so too i get refunded . just reading up on how to return items on eBay looks like its easy enough to do

I have been there; the seller will get back to you and would ask you to prove that it is fake; don't go that route: simply state that the item did not match the description; you have the pictures to prove that; ebay and paypal might ask you for a partial refund stating that you can keep the item; it's your choice: remember you need to mail the bat back and there is no guarantee a fraudulent seller will acknowledge that he has received the item; but whatever you do, open the dispute as soon as possible before he gets hold of the money; once you do that paypal will automatically block the receipt of the money. Good Luck!!

how do i go about opening a dispute zeusky im not really up to date with it pretty new with ebay / pay pal

umm i dont really own much at all usually borrow that stuff from my cricket mates im starting my own collection thou now ill gradually get some piece by piece

Sounds fair, make sense.

In Australia price for a pair of gloves is insane too! :

I don't understand--- you have not received the bat??? Then where did you get the above pictures?

yea like you said before cricket gear costs a fair bit over here i guess if people pay for it well the companies will keep on selling it expensive.
i wont buy so much straight away i only play cricket for half the year i play AFL for the rest of it. funnily enough if you haven't guessed my cricket team's name is the Footballers Cricket club

THats true, you should order stuff from UK and have some turn around :))

Ah okay then I guess you must be built? Then won't a heavy beat suit you?

ha yea ill look to the uk for my cricket gear now haha.

not all football players are built haha i guess i fall into that category im working on that thou CD. ill just swing my light bat faster :)

You guys have already covered it ... grains are definately not TRD ones !

That complicates the issue; I don't think you can open a dispute right now. Wait for the bat to get to you.

alright ill wait should i contact the seller telling him im going to send it back for a refund straight away or should i wait for the bat to get to me before i do anything ?

After hearing swing I take you like to play like Shahid Afridi :)

haha or like David Warner , Shane Watson. like to play like them yes can play like them no :) my lack of ability and practice gets in the way of that haha

Haha LOL - Nah Shane Watson is a class player :D His drives are brilliant he really isn't like Shahid Afridi :))

Will not help now; how can you open a dispute when you dont have evidence and/or alibi? Let the bat be delivered; open the case as soon as it reaches you.

fair anough ill wait till it comes i do have these photos of the bat which shows its going to be a fake. ill just play the waiting game for now

Wait for the photos just to be 100%.

I think a big give away is also on the dilshan bats the toe guard either sais TRD or DILSHAN on it (i cant remember what) but it also sais either of them.

Just in general, does anyone know, are CA Stickers readily accessible to the public?

Help me out brother. Why wouldnt you use a Top end bat on a 2 piece ball?

2 piece ball is way harder and would spoil a soft pressed Asian willow and would normally damage a cricket bat; so what CD meant was that using top end bats against those bad quality balls would eventually lead to the bat being destroyed; higher the cost of the bat, more loss you will take.
