Big series coming up for Babar Azam’s T20 team.

A tour of Australia.

Can he leave a mark off his captaincy in his first stint?

Can Pakistan bounce back after their dismally performance against Sri Lanka at home?

Discuss.

2-1 to Australia. Misbah has selected a very average side with a weak bowling attack. Australia have gone full strength. Our batting will do well, but the bowling will let us down.

3-0 to Australia..Babar will crumble under pressure..After this series Pakistan will recall Hafeez and Malik.:salute

3-0 to Pakistan.

No-one expected Pak to lose 3-0 to Sri Lanka B at home and they did just that.

Now expect the unexpected again.

don't know how we can win this series. It looks impossible, maybe we can win one match.

The best possible XI with the players selected will be something like :

Mohammad Rizwan
Babar Azam
Fakhar Zaman
Haris Sohail
Khushdil Shah
Asif Ali
Imad Wasim
Shadab Khan
Wahab Riaz
Mohammad Amir
Mohammad Hasnain

As they are 3 matches I will surely play Irfan, Musa Khan and Usman Qadir in at least one match.

Not getting good vibes about this series. 2 1 loss I reckon.

It’s t20s the Sri Lanka thing was a one off bad series but Pakistan should win but after sarafraz leaving the whole t20 mantra is gone so anything could happen 50/50

2-1 Pakistan

Will be another defining moment for Babar..and he will hopefully prove that he can handle the captaincy pressure as well.

1. * Finch - *Babar
2. Warner - Fakhar
3. Haris - Smith
4. Rizwan+ - Ben McDermott/A Turner
5. Asif - Maxwell
6. Khushdil/Iftekhar - Carey+
7. Imad - Ager
8. Wahab - Cummins
9. Shadab - Zampa
10. Amir - Starc
11. Irfaaaaan - Tye/Stanlake

It doesn't work that way, but Aussies have 8-1-2 advantage in head to head comparison. That's after considering Babar at per with Finch (As batsman, not Captain - I know he is ranked No. 1) and giving Imad, Irfaaan the edge. Other 8 spots are tight to comfortably won by Aussies, while Aussies are light years ahead in fielding, running between the wickets - both factors will cost PCT most in those large Aussie grounds.

PAK will do well to avoid another clean sweep here.

As a t20 batsman I would put Smith and Haris at the same level. Amir the t20 bowler and Starc t20 bowler are pretty similar. If Shadab is in good form, he is better than Zampa. He seems to be bowling better in the national t20 comp, he's bowling slower, less loose deliveries and not bowling down leg.

Smith is at least twice the batsman than Haris - in T20 that is. Overall stats may be similar, but on AUS condition, it's not even a fair comparison. Most of the PAK player's T20I stats are inflated because of playing against too many "soft" teams with compromised squads - even that didn't help in latest series. You'll notice that, often PAK players has a better T20I stats that T20 stats, because they play inferior opponents in T20I than Franchise games.

Haris-Smith, Amir-Starc, Shadab-Zampa .. these are comparable players only on stats for a reason, but even that's not applicable in Australian condition - add to that the fielding capacity of respective sides, the contest will be one sides. I hope PAK plays better than expected, but apart from Imad and may be firing Irfaaan, no PAK T20 player will make Aussie squad in AUS, not even Babar over their two openers, but might find a spot at 3 pushing Smith down. Haris will cost PAK on those large grounds by converting triples into doubles or doubles into singles - just wait and see.

True, well yeah in Aussie conditions these guys are well ahead. Forgot to take conditions in to consideration.

Steve Smith has a million dollar contract in the IPL.

Haris Sohail wouldn’t even be selected by any side.

PP needs to stop disrespecting Steve Smith as a LO player.

Pakistan are the no.1 T20 side in the world and Australia lost to this team last year. 3-0 coming up for the Aussies.

That million dollar contract is for Smith as a whole package.

He is an underrated and very innovative T20 batter. Exceptional fielder when fit.

Is a good student of the game and a decent captain in shorter format. Rajasthan needed a long term captain to invest in who will commit to their team. He is apparently very good with rookies.

I will play both khushdil and iftikhar
Khushdil in place of Asif

Now that the “we are the best in T20s” drama has finally ended and we have learned to take our fake #1 ranking in perspective, it is time for us to act with more humility and accept that we are a below average T20 side (and have been throughout our fake run from 2016-2018).

As a result, we should strive for marginal improvements with a young and deserving captain at the helm and not worry too much about the WT20 next year which we were never going to win anyway.

At this point, results don’t matter either way because we need to embarks on the process of constructing a new side. Unfortunately, we are off to a bad start with the ridiculous selections of Usman Qadir and Irfan who was finished 4 years ago.

Hoping Pakistan gives them good run for money but any game is Aus is competitive. Best chance is Sydney while Perth will the hardest with new pitch new stadium.

Players to look out for are Babar and Aussie wickie Carey.

My prediction Aus 2-1

I agree. Comparisons with Haris Sohail are embarrassing in any format. Smith is vastly superior.

Smith should be captain for RR for now. I was banging that drum before he was eventually made captain, as soon as he was made captain RR results improved.

I can’t see Pakistan winning. I think the bowling may be torn apart, especially Usman Qadir.

My gut says that too....

Once again pak fans becoming deluded with their predictions

3-0 Australia. Pak won't win a single game on this tour

i can see a 3 - 0 is coming after todays hammering to srilankan team

Australia 3-0.

Expect Shoaib Malik, Hafeez & Sarfaraz to be back in the next T20 team.

Pakistan should win atleast one game in this and maybe 2!

Pakistan will lose their top spot in the T20i rankings if Australia win 3-0.

Australia may win this 2-1 (or even 3-0).

Australia are clear favorites at home.

No Maxwell now. So does Pakistan win the second game or substitute in Warner?

Big test for Pakistan's new captain - is his team good enough to challenge the Aussies in their backyard?

My mind says 3-0 Aus.
My heart says 2-1 Aus.

Not much of a difference i know :ssmith

Some people actually thought it would be 3-0. Pakistan proved them wrong yet again. Brilliant from Irfan, he sacrificed his figures for the team. Getting smashed and bowling that no ball took time and allowed the rain to come before the 5 over mark.

PAK indeed did well here ...... :)

Pakistan will be scarred by their performance today. Finch has had the spoon on them lately and they don't see a way out of his assaults.

I predicted 2-1 to Australia - a bit generous to Pakistan. But now 2-0 looks a certainty. Unless Pakistan change their mindset.

Question is: Is Babar going to be his own man or Misbah's man?

This is Pakistan you have to be under Bhai
Babar isn’t strong personality as Virat
I feel for babar he was made captain just to get rid of Sarfraz . No proper planning behind it . One series he is VC next series he becomes captain this is total joke .
We know how Misbah and Waqar work . They won’t let babar work independently that is for sure

3-0 to the #1 ranked T20 team in the world. Pakistan is just too strong for Aussies. They will roll them over easily. Going to be boring 1 sided contests in favour of Pakistan

Lol some fans actually think we will win a game

Australia are going to massacre us in the next two games

Irfan has made sure we aren't whitewashed by delivering that genius last over. Irfan sees things from a different point of view, we will never understand what goes on up there in that head, but it's genius.

Bump.

If rain stays away, it will probably be either 1-1 or Aussies winning it 2-0.

looking like a 2-0 loss.

pakistan squad selection is poor. avg age looks like its above 30

Misbah has done it again we have way too many liabilities in field.

All youngsters warming the bench has to be a farce. Surely should have given a few of them a go today.

Souch galad tha aap ka bro.

This is just the beginning ..... there are 2 WCs coming in next 23 months and teams are preparing for their combination now - you won't see teams playing 6-7 reserves in T20s against PAK's possible best XI going forward much .......

Yeah, I know I was wrong. Poor judgement by me.

No issues - Smith always gives a bluff ... what you see isn't what's there actually. Didn't watch his batting today, but CI tells that this guy will be best middle order #4 in T20 as well if he starts to put focus on playing the p*rn version of cricket seriously.
