India seem to have the momentum but was Trent Bridge a glitch and will things go back to normal tomorrow?

I think England will bounce back and win.

Eng needs to get Kohli cheaply and game is won.

Whoever bats first must get 350 then the game is there.

India have a great chance but the weak tail might cost them.

Although both teams have made mistakes, the series seems to be an exciting one ahead.

England.

Sad to see BK playing in meaningless India A games when he should have been back in the Test Squad.

I am not too sure if Ishant and Shami can string up consistently good performances. If they can, then India has a good chance.

I have a feeling, England will be back to take revenge.

If the pitch is on the dry side and warrants playing two spinners - then if. India pick Ashwin & Jadeja then I am going with India.

If however it's an Edgbaston-like pitch then it's anybody's guess. Both teams have flaws and both have strength. Whoever makes less mistakes will win.

England's strong tail will edge them ahead just like at Edgbaston

It’s too close to call.

I’ll go with India.

Momentum is on their side.

Voted for India but logically who ever wins the toss is having too much advantage. Virat is pretty unlucky, till now but I hope he wins the toss tomorrow.

I've only submitted my vote now as I didn't see this thread yesterday, so obviously I have an unfair advantage on everyone who voted before, but I've gone for India. We've seen that when England don't take wickets with the new ball, they tend to really struggle and India's openers seemed relatively comfortable this morning. Unforunately, I have a feeling India will get a big score :(

I wonder if BK will play in the 5th Test. Who would be dropped if he came back?

IF India cross 400 at a good rate, say by tea or thereabouts tomorrow, it'd be really difficult for Eng to come back in this test. India missed a huge trick by not dismissing Eng under 150. That'd have almost certainly shut Eng out of this test.

India all the way - no other result possible.

Very even right now.

England need to end this innings now. Can't afford to give up much of a lead.

It’s not even considering India have to bat last on this pitch..

England are ahead despite the small lead..

At end of 2nd day: England 6/0 (21 runs behind).

England's win. A couple of partnerships and they can build a 200+ lead.

In 4th, anything above 180 will be very very hard.

In any case, great game so far! Kudos to Indians for bouncing back from 0-2, :kohli credit where it's due.

England win....no chance for India after that abysmal batting performance

Sorry to predict this, but when was the last time we had a successful 4th innings chase in a game that mattered overseas?

Be it Adelaide 2014, or the failed chases in South Africa earlier in the year, or Edgbaston in the 1st test - we always come up just short.

Here I don't think we can chase anything upward of 180. Delighted to be proven wrong.

Most of the times when Pujara score important runs it results in India winning the match which is opposite to Kohli whose important runs mostly results in loses (apart from last match).

Let's see if something different happens in this match now too where Pujara's runs result in a loss.

Kohli and Pujara came in quite early and built a partnership towards a 140+ score. Most times, Kohli is left partnering up with a rotation of players who don't stick around for too long.

You're foregoing mention of all the times India had comfortable wins BECAUSE Kohli scored.

Indian openers are due some runs and if England do not get at least 280 -300 lead I think India will chase it and level the series 2-2 with Oval being the decider where I feel that could end in a draw. So All in all I am going for a Drawn series for India . Which would be very good result for them .

India needed to be atleast 100 runs ahead at this point to have a chance however they only got 27. ENG will win this one, any target of 170-200 or more would be a herculean task for India with only 2 batsmen who can play... Series now ENGLANDs but India proved to be the better visiting side in comparison to ENG............

crucial morning - should decide fate of Test if England lose too many wickets

Still I l go with india to win this test.. any target around 250 should be chased by india

Doesn't matter what the target is, if Kohli gets out with more than 60 to chase then no way remaining Indian batsmen could score those 60 runs. Kohli could perhaps come at no:5 and let rahane bat at 4. The team forgets to bat once Kohli is out.

Anything less than a 250 run lead is not safe for England. India with a brilliant chance here to turn this series on its head.

Slipping away from India... Buttler goes, though.

Still, should be an interesting chase unless England can stretch the lead to 300.

Fascinating Test match.

Lead of 233 for England now with 2 wickets left and I would say that they are marginally ahead of India now.

Reckon India will loose by at least 100. Brilliant English lower order and terrible captaincy from India has ensured this.

If the target is 240 odd I would fancy India's chances. 270 will be out of reach

Sam Curran is the difference between the 2 aides. He is easily the 2nd best batsman in this series behind Kohli and he comes at No.8 which is an absolute luxury to have.

Indian lower order has been poor and did not match England’s lower order in blow to blow.

Need Buffet's opinion. He's usually spot on with his predictions

Kohli has to bring his A game tomorrow, whatever the amount of runs to chase.

I don't think anybody else can do it for us.

Nothing to lose having the likes of Rahul playing in Odi mode either.

Dont see him surviving poking around like he has for 4 tests worth.

And Pandya has had a terrible game, would do well to contribute with the bat tomorrow.

England will win from here. Don't see many teams in this era chasing down 200 plus.

This test is now lost. With that India will lose the series as well because even if they win last test series score will be 3-2.
So both series and test will be lost now.
: powerofcalculation:

I want 275. That will give basically more time for the pitch to deteriorate.need England to stick around for an hour in the morning and that should seal it.
New ball will be key for England, need a few to scuttle through low

England are favourites if they get 300+, anything less and it's 50/50. Fantastic Test Match, they are rarely dull in England.

Game is done and dusted. Eng has it in bag now.

India can definitely chase this. They're at their best when they know what the target is.

Many examples in last 2 years where they couldn't chase a reasonable target. I am not sure if they perform best in test when they know their target. It's true for ODI.

If I was India I would promote Pandya up the order giving him the licence to demolish England's spin duo. This guy on his day is a monster against spin bowling and would be a joy to watch if gets into full flow.

Rahane isn't the best against spin, so I would promote Pandya to 5 in place of him so he can dismantle the spinners while he's batting with the likes of Pujara, Kohli and co at the other end.

I predict reverse swing to play a bigger part tomorrow than conventional swing. Expect to see this between overs 40 - 80.

The pitch is bone dry so chasing will be difficult once the cracks open up and they will tomorrow given the forecast.

Ashwin didn’t bowl well given the pitch was assisting him - otherwise a 180 target would have been ideal.

I will give India a small chance if someone like Kohli gets in and scores big but the odds are in England’s favour.

You know, on second thoughts chasing a larger total might actually liberate some of our batsmen than chasing those awkward 185 type targets.

At least, let's hope.

Count down thread to eng winning the series

It's been a long time since I made a thread, well here it is. I am predicting ENG to win the test and seal the series today.... :stokes

Countdown starts now.........

However India still the strongest No.1 Side going around currently... :ashwin

Poor romali rotti reduced to making threads to jinx England to save his great team Indiyaaaaaa. How have the mighty "we should humilaite England" have fallen.

That's because when you're at the top, there is room to fall.

When you are #7, you're already at the bottom. You can't even fall anymore.

Goodbye.

Romali rotti's didnt give the impression that it was the fan of number 1 team talking. Maybe he is smarter than you as deep down he knows that the #1 ranking is a sham and therefore avoids chest beating and resorts to petty stuff like jinx threads.
