We have and are witnessing ever so rapidly the acquisition of teams around the world in leagues being taken up by Indian Premier League franchise owners. Franchise names like MI, Capital, Sunrisers are already becoming synonymous in almost all the leagues.

One has to question then where's the franchise league Cricket heading? How boring it would be and how big of a monopoly it will be when when Indian owners have taken up all but teams of Pakistan Super League. Same names will be written on scorecards. More players will be added to blacklists.

That will be a time of great resistance and hope. When only Pakistan Super League franchises will be left against the giants of IPL. It will become ever more important for Pakistan Super League to distinguish themselves from Indian counterpart and to offer the world a piece of real Cricket.

Not really a prediction tbh.

Most leagues are mini IPL's or aren't really relevant.

Even Big Bash League which is quality cricket is losing interest in viewership day by day.

The Australian consumer market just doesn't like t20 cricket at all, and only play odi tournaments for world cup glory. They really only care about test cricket.

And England's hundred is good but it may die out or bcci influence may take over.

What is the definition of resistance? 🤔

Pak players are not allowed in IPL anyways.

The international players who don’t get picked for IPL go to other leagues like PSL, SAT20 etc.

Indian players don’t play any league outside of IPL anyways.

Yeah Indian business seem to invest in all leagues so you can resist by only allowing local business to own franchises in PSL. That’s a good resistance I guess.

IPL started in 2008. Since they have been monopolizing. When their league was started there was no other league. Nobody got bored. It got better and better by the year. 17 years. Now even WPL is a hit. SA20 is offshoot of IPL T20. That is bread and butter for Cricket SOuth Africa.

Pakistan defiance league, or

Pakistan resistance league, or the best

International Intifada league

Not even the draft was run professional what i heard. They are way behind IPL in everything.

Here is the comment about PSL draft by a pak fan

The Shocking Production Quality of the PSL Draft

PSL

It is beyond embarrassing that in the 10th edition of the PSL, in the year 2025, the production quality of this draft was this poor.

From the very first pick, the microphones weren't working. Players like Hasan Ali literally had to shout out the name of the draft pick so the host could hear it. They constantly had to pass the mic to other tables and other teams. There was constant confusion about if the mics work or not. Even in a shadi with a lower budget than this, they make sure the mics are working before the event starts. The English host constantly made comments about how the mic isn't working and had to fill up air time to make it seem less awkward. Imagine what he must've been thinking. Is this the best and most professional Pakistan can do?

The team anthems played and paused at awkward times. Either commit to playing more of it or don't play it at all.

The graphics, as seen from the pictures, had so many mistakes. The ones I posted are just the ones I noticed. There might be even more.

There was delays in matching graphics to what the hosts were saying. Check out the parts where they talked about the best bowler and awards for best player in a category. The hosts had no idea if the graphics were up or not.

On top of that, the look of the set looked so chaotic. You had people running around in front of the camera and blocking the view or trying to help with the mic. It didn't look organized at all. Game shows have better quality with lower budgets. Many things have better quality to be honest with lower budgets.

The owner of the Multan Sultans is right. We have very incompetent people in charge at the PCB/PSL. I knew it was bad, but what I saw was even more shocking than I could've imagined. What can kind of an amateur show did i witness?

PSL Has to match SA20 at this point which seems to have excellent production quality. In some areas they are better than IPL.

Actual headlines Should be - Is PSL Only league that will not get proper Investment from IPL owner's

IPL owners are not interested to buy any shares in garbage league like BPL ,LPL etc .

:kp

Have an idea for PSL- make bowling arm more than 25 degrees

Allow ball to be “worked on” for 25 mins every match to each team.

I will be interested to watch it more than 300 run fests in IPL.

PSL is the only hope. It used to be the league with by far the best bowling at display however in last few seasons the quality has dropped a bit.

The problem with PSL is same as problem with Pakistan Team..it's overhyped to the level of Kohli and ending up as Babar Azam..the Pak fans had the obsession earlier to compare every players to their Indian counterpart to prove they are better and ultimately end up realising they are nowhere equivalent to Indian team..Same has now happened to PSL..but instead of accepting their own limitations, it's the same old BCCI bashing which is not going to benifit any way..trust me it's not even David vs Goliath..it's just a dog barking at the sun thinking sun will come down..

Now with the Ban of Harry Brook there's potential that he does not get picked from IPL franchises in other leagues too.

That's where PSL will come in and give him a platform.

I don't think PSL is a good enough alternative. They don't pay players well enough. Even SA20 and ILT20 has far higher salary caps. As someone on this thread alluded to, the comparison between PSL and IPL is very much that of a small grocery store and massive supermarket chain with multiple locations. PSL needs to do a whole lot more to make this product more profitable, especially from a revenue stand-point, where the salary caps go up and it becomes a more attractive destination for foreign players.

PSL will always have better faster bowlers and harder hitting batsmen like Azam Khan.

No matter how much we monopolise the sport through IPL and Indian business houses, Pakistan will always have the last laugh

Azam Khan's girth alone is enough resistance to the entire Indian cricket ecosystem. Helps that he weighs just about as much too :inti

IPL is the biggest moneymaker after NFL, and that's with a 3rd world economy and barely any history behind it. PSL franchises offer zero resistance to anything, and why should they? If anything, those franchises should aim to ride on the IPL momentum.

Do you have any stats for BBL ? Would be interested to read. Looking at the crowd, it appears the popularity is high

What do you mean by resistance and why is it important ?

This is the list of worldwide leagues by revenue. For cricekt, IP is at # 13, BBL #49, CPL #62 & BPL #93. What is absolutely shocking that there is no PSL in the top 110 leagues and that CPL and even BPL is above PSL. So much for PSL being an IPL competitor. The level of denial here is sometimes scary.

It's about preserving Cricket for fans and players around the world.

Without a resistance. Cricket because of IPL only would become uniform, corporate dominated with same name and play styles. A monopoly would mean reduced opportunities for many players and fans. It will prevent concentrated power in a few people's hand. It will keep competitive and diverse spirit alive.

so do you mean IPL is uniform ?
SA20, CPL and IPL have the same players and the same styles ?
Even two separate seasons of the same IPL franchose have different styles.

It seems like the only players that are blacklisted would be Pakistanis. But we have seen no evidence of it so far!!

But it won't stop there. They recently banned Harry Brook.
I don't know if Harry Brook was banned from `The Hundred`. And these are commercial franchises, if competing tournaments are not able to cough up the dough, they will be merged and IPL teams can leverage their resources and market the game better.

The level of denials and delusions from the Pak posters here is unbelievable. Denying facts and living in an alternate world. No wonder the Pak players and the PCT performance mirror these. Its like some Ind folks saying Ind is on par with China as a country - nobody or atleast an overwhelming number in Ind dont believe that. You have to accept facts and reality if you have to improve.

Good thing there’s resistance otherwise imagine PSL being played in UAE, teams named Multan Indians, Karachi Knight Riders, and Lahore Super Kings with no Pakistani players and PCB paying royalties for using successful IPL franchises’ names.

@cricketjoshila believes that India is superior to USA, China, Japan, Australia, UK and pretty much is no 1 in the world.

Pakistan players suffer the most as they miss two of the top leagues in world cricket. IPL and SA20.

Lol a meek cat will resist against tiger by running away. That is the reality. Keep resisting in empty space because no one running IPL even thinks of Pakistan and PSL.

I come to this forum to read the delusions. I thought most of us are for that, since it is our guilty pleasure :-) We have Saya Corp screwing Pakistan, else the with the `talent` we would have been world beaters, winning all ICC tourneys, defeating SENA countries in their backyard.
Not just the players....

What are the aussie viewership numbers - t20 vs test ?

I conflated this with ground attendance. Nevermind.
The only reason the 740,000 number is so high is due to big bash league and IPL. Otherwise international t20 and odi is a dying brand for Australia atm
