Shaheen Shah Afridi and 2 rookies - Aamer Jamal and Khurram Shehzad

Hopes and expectations for this group to help in taking 20 wickets against Australia?

Hafeez and Shan can talk a good game but the team selection says they will play cowardly cricket and duly get spanked.

You don’t win test matches with 2 specialist pacers with one of them making a debut

This is the best we can put out ATM. The only 50-50 decision was Wasim or Jamal, I would have gone with Wasim but I don't think either are going to have much of an impact.

If we manage to take more than 5 wickets in an innings it's an achievement for this sorry group.

May be the team director Hafeez has full confidence in them , hope for the best

We have a minnow bowling attack when you see the bowling line-up of the opposition, Starc, Cummins, and Hazlewood and yes they have a specialist off-spinner Lyon as well. No high Expectations from this in-experienced pace attack apart from Shaheen.

Uninspiring bowling line up. Only slightly better than the last tour where Shaheen was inexperienced, Naseem was on debut, and Musa Khan received one of the most undeserved test caps in the history of Pakistan cricket

Meh.

Shaheen himself is not the same bowler, so let's see what happens......

My motivation to get up in the night to watch this game has dropped dramatically

Starc Hazlewood Cummins Lyon that's 1300+ Test wickets compare to our attack. Aus batters will have a comfortable sleep time to boost your stats

Pakistan don't have any other options and most important whoever they Play doesn't make any difference to the end result.

Not seen the 2 debutants bowl but having just 3 full time bowlers is extremely defensive in any Test , away or home unless you have someone like say Jadeja & Ashwin as the 4th & 5th & that too on tracks expected to turn from day 3 !

What happened to Ihsanullah? He is the kind of bowler that can take pitch out of the equation. Trundlers will be put to sword on Aus pitches.

When you chose the likes of Mir Hamza and Hasan Ali, and realise that they aren't anywhere near to the level you need, you then look at other guys. Faheem is in for his batting more than for his bowling, Jamal isn't very good, the type that would go for 80 in 18 overs and Khurram is decent but needs good bowlers to bed him in. Chacha Naumi was a dreadful tour selection and isn't any good and the spin cupboard is bare

Never seen either Khurram or Jamal bowl. Hopefully the Aussies haven't either, surprise would probably be the best bet of taking wickets.

Khurram was the highest Wicket Taker in the recently concluded FC Season. He is a good young prospect in Test Cricket. I suggest you watch some of his videos on YouTube.

Jamal is 'supposed' bowling all rounder. But he has no stat or performance in FC Cricket with the bat to back this claim. His bowling stats are okayish. Can bowl over 140kph with effort. But he is not disciplined enough.

The start of this bowling line-up was similar to what I expected. Getting smashed all around the park. Here are the stats for 4 seamer till now:

Shaheen Afridi 7 overs 36 runs at 5.14 Run-rate

Khurram Shahzad 5 overs 19 runs at 3.80 Run-rate

Aamir Jamal 4 overs 15 runs at 3.75 Run-rate

Faheem Ashraf 5 overs 29 runs at 7.25 Run-rate

What can we expect from these guys?

Idiotic team selection and bowling attack. Should have been Shaheen/Hassan/Hamza/Spinner

Wrong title thread, it should be The Pakistan medium pace attack 3/4 bowlers are not even in high 130s

Playing two bowling all rounders doesn’t make sense
Our all rounders are part-timers by international standards. Mr chief selector also unsuccessfully marketed himself as an all rounder during his career.

If Pakistan were going to play Salman. Then they didn't needed an All Rounder to bat at no. 7. Would've made more sense than to play Hasan or Wasim in place of Faheem as they are both more skilled than him. Wasim is much quicker as well

I think Pakistan has missed the trick by not picking any frontline spinner for the first test as we have seen the wicket offering massive turn on it on day 1 so whats gonna happen on day 4 or 5.

yeah big mistake. Hope it does not backfire for Pakistan.

As we saw with Saud's dismissal against Hazlewood, you need bowlers who can do this to the batters - we don't have that.

Adam Hollioake in a presser:

"We haven't got the tallest bowling attack in the world, although we've got Shaheen. And then I was up there with Hafeez, and I said that the bowling attack reminded me of the 'Anthill mob'. If you remember those guys from Wacky Races - they're not the tallest guys, but they're skiddy, so therefore they're hitting the stumps."

This was said at start - lack of pace would hurt us.

And it is.

If we go in the next two matches with the same bowling lineup, we are likely to not get 20 wickets in any of those matches as well. For me, Mir Hamza should be in the playing XI.
