PSL 2018 Match 18: Ronchi smashes 77 off 41 balls as Islamabad United down Lahore Qalandars again

Good first innings. Good partnership from Fakhar and Devcich, who scored a good sixty. Important consolidation from Salman and Ramdin, preventing yet another collapse. And good hitting from McCullum at the death. Faheem and Shadab were excellent with the ball. Should be an entertaining second innings, hope Sahibzada plays well.

Lolz what consolidation from Ramdin.
 
I don't want to be harsh on Umar akmal but he has not been used properly, he should have batted no3 and this new guy from nzl is better than ramdin, he could have played and umar as a wk. Poor stuff from management team. Rana need to fire all of them no need of them.
 
Even west indies dont pick Ramdin.Worst player.Cant remember even:sammy:sammy:imam 1 innings where this guy has scored runs

According to Aaqib, the bowlers aren't comfortable with UA as wicket-keeper and prefer a specialist.

That doesn't mean he has to bat at #4 :danish
 
What's his job anyway.He should not be anywhere near this team.Even that Gulraiz did better than him.

LAHORE NEED MAJOR OVERHAUL OF THIS PSL.

We need a new coach, captain and fresh team. Look at Multan new team and doing well.

Rana saab please wake up.
 
here is Irfan Jnr who bowls at 90-100kmph every 3rd ball. Can somebody explain to me why McCullum has 3 fielders behind square on the offside for someone who bowls with that pace??? Wow. How clueless of a captain is McCullum?
 
I think this promotion will help Shadab's confidence but he lacks the power to be a #3 in T20's.
 
180 would be a better defendable total for LQs. But since they were posting 100+ so far in the games with just one 140, Lahore Qalandars have done a decent job.

It's actually a great move. He hasn't picked up many wickets this tournament so this will help him. And with the start Islamabad has, they can afford to just knock it around which Shaddy is very good at.
 
If Lahore lose this game, McCullum should have the decency to step down as captain like Shoaib Malik did for KK in the 1st season.

Should've have given Sahibzada the chance as he is a top order batsmen and really needed the confidence boost.

Yes, I wouldn't mind seeing Farhan bat at the top but Islamabad is spoiled with their options. Next in will probably be Talat though, who should also capitalize on this situation.
 
IU can make it to the Final easily if they get rid of the dead weights hanging around.
 
Just tells how you under the radar Ronchi's pick had gone at the draft. Immense power and timing. So easy on the eyes. Plus flexible approach by IU, sending new comers higher up. Shadab is a very intelligent batter and will look to rotate strike with Ronchi at the other end

He was on fire in the last T20 Blast in England. He scored like 3 consecutive 50s, and it was like a month before PSL draft.
 
Give the devil his due, Misbah sent Shadab at number three. That was an excellent move.
 
Islamabad may leap over to the second position of the table today if things go for them in the second match.
 
Islamabad's success in the 1st season were built on their 5 overseas players: Haddin / Watson / Smith / Badree / Russell

I don't think they have managed to replace Watson and Smith but they have adequately replaced Haddin with Ronchi. Too bad Russell is out of the tournament.

It's too easy for Ronchi... he might win this year's PSL for IU
 
The filth KK and LQ have produced on Ronchi's leg side is incredible.
 
When IU came out to bat, they must have thought "it's only Lahore lads" and hence went about demolishing them.
 
Ronchi has been great against brainless bowling from LQ. Good innings from Shadab.

Meanwhile Asif Ali has been promoted over Farhan and Talat. :facepalm:
 
Asif Ali sent over Farhan.This could have been an excellent opportunity for Farhan to gain confidence.

There's nothing to gain for Talat and Farhan here when only 19 runs are required. But if they get out, it will dent their confidence even further.
 
If your confidence gets shattered just because you didn't get to bat, then you are a certified mental midget.
 
On the bright side, Misbah can shake off his rust if he stays till the end of the chase. His batting might be needed later on in the PSL.
 
Tuk tuk has the potential to lose this match for IU from here
 
Misbah gets rid of Ronchi. Who said he doesn't give chances to Talat?
 
When IU should have been smashing it to all parts to increase NRR, Captain Tuk tuk comes in and plays 3(11) innings. Mashallah
