Season six of PSL, which was postponed on March 4 due to Covid-19, is all set to begin on June 1. But before that, the replacement draft of the league will take place next week, virtually, with around 130 foreign players. For now, 20 matches remain to be played in the tournament after the matches were postponed due to some Corona positive cases among players.

As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, no England player will be available for the event due to the Vitality T20 Blast, which begins on June 9. Here is the list of foreign players to have agreed to be a part of the league:

Platinum

Caribbean stars like Evin Lewis and Andre Russell, New Zealand’s opener Martin Guptill and Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib-al-Hasan are part of the platinum roster.

Lewis will be only available till June 16, while Guptill will be there for the entire duration of the remainder of the league. Meanwhile, Russell and Shakib will only be available after the culmination of IPL.

Diamond

This category has Usman Khawaja and all-rounder James Faulkner from Australia. New Zealand pacer Adam Milne, South Africa’s speedster Morne Morkel and Bangladesh’s opener Tamim Iqbal are also part of this category.

Morkel, Faulkner and Khawaja are available for the full event, while on the other hand, Milne and Iqbal will join only after May 27.

Gold

Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella and middle-order batsman Dinesh Chandimal are part of the gold category, and so is West Indies’ all-rounder Keemo Paul.

Silver

It has the likes of Jake Weatherald and Jonathan Wells from Austrlia, Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai, New Zealand’s George Worker, Zimbabwe’s Wesley Madhevere and Sean Williams, Bangladesh’s Taskin Ahmed, Liton Das and Shabbir Rahman. From Sri Lanka, Nuwan Pradeep and Seekkuge Prasanna will take part, while from West Indies, Johnson Charles and Kesrick Williams will play.

It is reported that Shimron Hetmyer, Janneman Malan and Corey Anderson are also on the radar but haven’t confirmed their participation as yet.

I hope Pollard can make it as well. Was supposed to play a few seasons back but got injured.

Good that the likes of Russell are on the way, he's a T20 mercenary and should bring some more viewership to the league.

We need the likes of Pooran, Hetmeyer, and other explosive hitters to eventually convince bigger nations like England to send their players.

With Guptill coming, it does open the door to the New Zealand team with the likes of Williamson potentially, but it remains unknown as to whether or not he will even bother coming.

We need to attract one big Australian player, someone like Maxwell, Warner, Smith, or Finch. That will open a door into the Australian team, and the likes of Dawid Malan need to be invited to the PSL again, so that we have doors into the England side.

Funny how England players are available for IPL when they're I'm latter stages of Vitality

Decent names.

Obviously there will be few names in the overseas players which will be a slight compromised but, teams are allowed in go with minimum 2 overseas players as well this time around if required. Hopefully some quality cricket will be on offer.

Second-third tier foreign players again. Maybe in 10 years' time, we will get to see players with Cummin's and Warner's stature play in the PSL.

With the COVID situation currently in Pakistan, there is a high chance of another international cricket exile if the protocols and the biobubbles are even half leaky as the last time.

Unless the organizers can't ensure safety of the players and staff, should postpone it.

And please keep Javed Afridi and other owners away from the bubble and making their own rules for themselves.

Get the Zimbabwe lads in. If they can humiliate Misbah's Pakistan so easily they should fare well in PSL too.

All Australian domestic players should be available its poor stuff by PSL management even if they get likes of Ben Dwarshius, Kurtis Patterson, Jordan Silk, Joel Paris, Sam Harper, Josh Inglis and all those guys still would have had something even Sean Abott would have been free.

Not the brightest idea restarting the PSL I have to say.

Restart is about 1 month away & hopefully, by then situation will be much better. PCB doesn't have any other option because if it can't happen in June it won't happen again this year.

Only really replacing the English players if I’m honest.

Russel to peshawar, guptill to islamabad, shakib replaced nabi, tamim goes to multan, Quetta take evin lewis and Gayle as openers.

PZ: Fabian Allen, Rovman Powell, Fidel Edwards
KK: M Guptill, Najeebullah Zadran, Thisara Perera, Liton Das
MS: Mahmudullah, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, George Linde, Obey McCoy
LQ: Shakib, J Faulkner, J Burns, Callum Ferguson, S Prasanna
QG: A Russell
IU: U Khawaja, Janneman Malan

IU, LQ and QG will be fairly happy, I think. Quetta basically unscathed when it comes to player unavailability and still end up with Andre Russell.

Important to note though that none of these players can be retained for PSL7. The original roster (before postponement) will be effective for next year.

Some pretty good replacement picks from LQ, IU and QG. Others are decent also, will have to see how which previous players are their.

Teams looking good, hopefully everything goes smoothly this time around.

Key note is none of these franchises will be able to retain these players for PSL 7 and all these players will go into the draft (Depending upon the availability in PSL 7)

Some good, some not so good and some interesting signings by the franchises.

I guess Sammy picked the PZ replacements :)

What is up with Multan's replacements? Mahmudullah, Gurbaz and McCoy for Lynn, Vince and Braithwaite? That's a terrible exchange right there.

Also, PZ picking only West Indian players seems a big strange. But I'm sure Sammy had a hand in that.

Shakib, Guptill, Russell, Khawaja, Malan and Allen are big names/great picks. Would like to see how these guys do. And hope they are in the mix next year too.

Definitely out of the box thinking from Multan Sultans.

Not exactly names that many would have expected......but you never know, they might surprise.

Is that the same ferguson, who was meant to replace Ponting back in 20008?

I had no idea he was still around!

Some good picks, I must say Islamabad United have had a quality draft, strengthening the top order.

Lahore Qalandars have also strengthened there lower order and batting resources.

Darren Sammy has brought in some more Caribbean flavour to the PSL.

Quetta have brought the T20I & League cricket icon in Andre Russell. A big hitter like him at No.5/6 is a big coup for them

Karachi acquiring Guptill and Thisara Perera has covered there power game ahead of the restart. Considering how important Nabi was, they will need these two fire.

And finally Multan Sultans have had a somewhat mixed draft. George Linde is a good bowling AR and fielder but that's about it, Mahmudullah is a good batting AR but not sure he's game is suited to T20 cricket, Tamim would have been better. Gurbaz is a good WKB, he's a hitter, similar to Kami and Obed McCoy is a good bowler. So... yeah.

Did pretty well last season for Sydney Thunders and captained them too. Kind of a batsman who can hold the innings together for LQ and hit a few to finish matches as well. A pretty decent pick.

LQ got Shakib to buff their spin attack as well.

If both Hafeez and Shakib are bowling, they might not even need to play another spinner.

The only question is where they play Shakib. He should come in ahead of Hafeez in my opinion.

How the covid situation is shaping up, don't think we will see this event happen sadly. Now that first time mess up by PSL management looking even more terrible.

There's still 1-month remaining for the tournament to start so hopefully this latest wave would've lost its impact by then.

Odd picks from Peshawar and to some extent Multan. Khawaja bhai is coming home :amla

not to mention he would be playing for Islamabad, the place where he was born.

United should milk him with marketing gimmicks

Am not sure what the management were thinking who the heck are these guys :)

Islamabad have okay picks they lost Hales but they have replaced him with Malan who I rate very highly.
Khawaja was a poor pick not sure he's suited to test but he has international experience.

Multan have picked poor replecament places but I like linde he can be useful as a all-rounder and a good fielder.

Karachi have decent enough replacements and like for like replacements good picks especially guptil.

Lohare have picked arguably the best all rounder in the world in shakib and have strength both thier bowling and batting.

Peshawar have got an excellent pick in Miller a total game changer.

Quetta have made the right choice in picking Russel as that will allow safraz to bat at 3 and with the inclusion of Russel it adds a lot of power with both Russel and azam Khan great pick.

Amazing pool of players. Insha'Allah tournament will happen, can't wait

Lol the Franchises have ended up with better replacements than the original players. The PCB should seriously consider a window for the psl after the IPL in the future

Ya agree with you ...
Even some of the popular players who are unavailable aren't really a performer when it comes to PSL atleast i mean the likes of Remember the name & english players tom & other ones except maybe vince .
So all in all good stuff..
hopefully PCB follows the IPL module & successfully finish this season without much hue & cry

Not sure. But if players are willing to travel, it must not that be bad. PSL is a month away so hopefully it's safe.

I am excited to see Gurbaz. He already secured his place in Afghan t20 team and is a big hitter at top of the order. Big future for him.

Not sure about his keeping.

The replacement picks are better than the original ones and this is a pleasant surprise considering how shoddy the PCB image is.

Lioton Das is better than Joe clark? and Prasanna is better than Rashid khan?

Can someone please tell me why Jake Wheatherald wasn't picked up by any team as he was best t20 Australian batsman available that too in Silver.

New Zealand’s explosive opener Martin Guptill and Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Thisara Perera, who will be representing the Karachi Kings side in the remaining matches of the Habib Bank Limited (HBL) Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six, expressed their excitement after joining the franchise in video messages posted through the Karachi Kings social media accounts.

Guptill stated that he could not wait to play some really good cricket while expressing the hope of bringing home another trophy for the Karachi Kings franchise.

“Just a quick message to say how excited I am to be joining the champions Karachi team.

I can’t wait to get over there and play some really good cricket and hope to bring home another trophy.

Ye hai Karachi! (This is Karachi),” Guptill said. Sri Lanka’s all-rounder Thisara Perera was equally thrilled to be a part of the Karachi Kings franchise.—APP

I think PSL should be cancelled. We know now Covid bubbles are highly breachable.

More importantly, we don't know what will be the situation in Pakistan come June. Hopefully good. But diverting essential and scarce resources to a sporting event doesn't make sense to me.

Stop with this circus leagues already. PSL and IPL (despite no crowd and good protocols) have shown it's not 100% safe.

I have no issues with the PSL being cancelled, given what has happened in the IPL it is certain to be cancelled

My question is can the PCB deal with and suck up the losses? I heard in a news report that if the PCB fails to complete the PSL, they are looking at losses worth $10-15 million which is a gigantic amount for the PCB

21 runs in 3 innings so far for Guptill.

Struggling badly.
