PSL Franchise Meeting held today at NCA

Lahore November 13, 2017: A Pakistan Super League Franchise Meeting was held at the National Cricket Academy with Chairman Mr. Najam Sethi presiding over the meeting.

The meeting as attended by Mr. Asher Schon, Managing Director Multan Sultans, Mr. Nadeem Omar, Owner Quetta Gladiators, Mr. Javed Afridi, Owner Peshawar Zalmi, Mr. Atif Rana, CEO Lahore Qalandars, Mr. Salman Iqbal, Owner Karachi Kings, and Mr. Ali Naqvi, Co-owner Islamabad United.

The meeting was briefed about ways to streamline talent hunt programs. A detailed plan will be chalked out in consultation with all franchise representatives to further improve the process of scouting new talent.

Mr. Sethi reiterated Pakistan Super League’s stance against anti-corruption and vowed to further strengthen the League's anti-corruption efforts.

The problem of counterfeit merchandising was also discussed. It was decided that the League will take legal measures to clamp down on counterfeit merchandising.

All franchises unanimously decided to increase the player salary cap by USD 25,000 allowing teams to pick a squad of 21 players for this season. The newly inducted players will be from Pakistan and may include players unearthed through talent hunt programs or top performers from the National T20 Cup taking place in Rawalpindi currently.

Good news. Some of the top performers of National T20 Cup may find a place in squads now.

So 6 teams can add another 6 players from the current T20 tournament top chart? If this happens then it will be a great news. Can someone please clarify that.

Wish they also replace some underperformer like Shehzad, U. Akmal, Yasir, Shafiq, Gul, Sohail etc from the PSL squad

There is hope yet. The draft was decent on the whole but so many deserving players missed out.

They should force to play 2 new players instead of 1 in the playing 11.

Sounds like a PR stunt to keep everyone happy.

Might as well create a new PCB team with 'others' in it and let them participate in the PSL.

More than that they should had 2 groups and 6 categories of Emerging players.
Group A : Openers, Middle order, WK.
Group B : AR, Spinner, Pacers.

With this they could have had a clause that no team picks 2 from 1 group.

What we have now are squads where some teams have 2 bowlers or two batsmen from Emerging Category. Thats awkward.

That is a good idea.Except some may cry conflict of interest.

They should have a pay as you play clause, like BPL, so that the players who refuse to visit Pakistan may not get the added money. That money can go to a local talent and they may not have to spend another extra 20000-25000$ on their 21st player.

I hope someone must pick Awais Zia he playing well and make a fifty in his firdst match in national t20 cup 2017

A good decision by the PSL management and franchises. Giving local talent more opportunities to prove themselves and get signed for the PSL

I just hope the 21st player isn't the son of, nephew of or friend of some PCB official or of a coach.

Do you have any info on why Zeeshan Malik was ignored?

I don't, but it does appear as if some of the franchises have not really carried out proper research before the draft.
