Fahim needs to be part of PAK plan - he is better option than anyone for 5123 formation.

Completly agree with you and the formation too. Could have been very handful on these nz surfaces.

This is Asif Zakir's 4th hundred and he hit a 200* is well, but why isn't he bowling?

I thought he was meant to be an A/R? TalentSpotterPk

Completly agree with you and the formation too. Could have been very handful on these nz surfaces.

In most wickets, PAK should use 2 spinners; or at least Yasir. In that regard on green tops, 3 pacers are not enough; on standard wickets just 4 specialist bowlers are not enough; only this current formula can work on turners with 125+ overs bowled by 2 specialist spinners.

Best formation is to play 5 batsmen with Sarfu at 6; Yasir & a couple of specialist bowlers - depending on wicket, it can be spin/pace pair or one a piece & 2 all rounders of which Fahim is a must, otherone in between MoHa, Yamin or someone new like Shadab or Imad or the Lahore Office guy (some Aga) - Nawaz is not an all-round option, neither Hasan Ali.

This Hamilton Test is heading to a direction, where PAK will badly miss Yasir - even at worst batting performance Kiwis lead won't be more than 150 on an improving wicket; Yasir could have allowed 3 pacers enough rest to get Kiwis under 200 next time. Now, tomorrow bright sun is expected & PAK might find themselves net net 300/4 with 196 overs of the match left & 0-1 down in the Series.

Absolutely. Some ppers here laugh when i recommend Fahim. Agree with all the names you mentioned. Would love shadab to turn into a genuine all rounder got all the tools to become one. Plus in these conditions we sould play Amir yamin at 7 and fahim ashraf at 8. This gives us a 5 bowling options and also a decent lower order too.

As for asia we need to play 1 fast bowling all ronder and a spinner, you mentioned salman aga. I have personally seen him bat and is a much better batsmen the nawaz but needs to work on his bowling a bit then he can become a very good option for us and he has improved his bowling in the last year or so. So good signs.

I went for random few names based on the type of players they are - it can be Amad, Hammad or any unknown kid as well. The idea is 5 batsmen on absolute batting merit; No. 6 to be a WK capable of holding spot as specialist bat; No. 7 to be a batsman all-rounder, just not good enough as specialist bat, but offers good balance with 25 overs of bowling & No. 8 might be just not good enough bowler to be one of 4 men attack, but good enough to bowl 35 quality overs & average in 20s with bat (& below 40 with ball).

This is basically a combined effort of 6th batsman & 4th bowler, but with more flexibility & covering risk of over-work/mid match injury. Had PAK's fitness record been AUS pacers (old Aussie side, these days they are breaking down for pre-match photo sessions), SAF, WI, NZ - PAK could have gone with 3+1 bowling options & may be 15 overs from Azhar/Babar; but with this fitness & a pace attack with 3 pacers in their mid to late 30s (I am well aware of Wahab, Imran & Sohail's official birth-date as per CricInfo profile), it's like crash landing an airbus A380 on a melting iceberg.

Looks like the third opener for Australia is hitting form, better late than never! :)

Still no sign of Asif, but Salman Butt 64 not out!

Not good enough for Int Cricket given his game against Pace bowling.

If he makes it to Pakistan test team than He will be another entry to 1 or 2 test wonders.

He could have been given a go under Inzamam's captaincy in Odi Cricket but he missed the ship than.

He has mentioned those who are in contention.

Who are these two?

Ahsan Ali and Umair Khan, I think.

I think Sami, Azhar and Sharjeel will go to Australia as the first 3 openers.

Perhaps a fourth opener in the squad is a possibility? But he'd be unlikely to get a game anyway.

Better would be to add an extra middle order batsman since we have no backups in the squad at the moment. Perhaps Sallahuddin could get a call up..

There won't be a fourth opener at all.

Yes Sami, Azhar & Sharjeel will be openers most likely unless any of these 3 get injured God forbid.

Salman can only get selected if :

1. 1 of our openers get unfit.

2. Misbah is willing to accept him in the team.

3. Salman scores 1 or 2 more hundreds in next matches.

4. Salman is able to acquire visa of Australia in next 2-3 weeks.

Too many ifs so it is highly unlikely.

If Rizwan does not score in the 2nd innings and Pakistan decide to take a risk of selecting only 1 keeper for Australia than Usman will surely be replacing Rizwan. Even otherwise he has a strong chance of being named as the 16th/17th member of the squad.

Neck to neck competition between Aamer Yamin & Fahim Ashraf for next Pakistan A squad.

Both have taken sixfers in this match with Faheem also scoring a 50.

Both should be around the Pakistan ODI squad not A squad. We are seriously lacking in an alrounder who can bat and also ball fast/medium.

What do you make of Fahim Ashraf's batting? He has driven past Amad Butt as the main contender for fast bowling alrounder's slot. I've never seen him live, what is his bowling like?

Unfortunately Yamin seems like the kind of guy whose bowling will only be useful in swinging conditions.

He could have been given a go under Inzamam's captaincy in Odi Cricket but he missed the ship than.

I thought he was an A/R, that's why hitting 4 hundreds is very impressive for an A/R.

If he is only a batsmen, then yeah there are much better batsmen out there.

fahim ashraf is doing wonders f wickets and highest scorer with 71....

He is a Medium fast seamer who bowls between 127 to 135 kph. Can be slightly better than Aamer Yamin due to being few inches taller.

Have seen him bat in 4-5 domestic televised matches but He could not score in any of those matches.

In this current Fc season no allrounder has given performances which deserve national call up.

This is Faheem's batting performance this season. Its better than Yamin & Amad though but not good enough.

Since gettinh dropped from Pakistan team Amad's performances with both bat and bowl have nose dived unfortunately. I see potential of being a good test allrounder only in Amad but he is having a very poor season.

Good game for Hammad Azam. Still think he's a better option than any of the others if we wanted to play a batting all rounder who can fill in with 10-15 overs a day whilst batting at 6. Sadly I don't think he's in the PCB plans anymore and the likes for Fahim and Yamin have done better with the ball this season so are probably getting noticed more.

Salahuddin didn't have a good match. Well doesn't matter now, we all know Inzi is not going to make any changes even if we have defeat after defeat.

Bit disappointed in Saad Ali this season. Four fifties but failed to convert any of them into hundreds.
