Question to meat eaters: Why do you do it?

Had only eaten daal chawal and timatar chutney with roti for dinner for the past 2 days ever since I forgot to restock the meats in the deep freezer.

Had begun to forget the taste of meat, I thought to myself that night on my pillow, "is this it?", "is this where I become the vegetarian, where the predator becomes the prey?"

And then had a barbecue today out of nowhere, chicken tikka, behari kebab, chapli kebab, hamburgers. Mwaah, I love you meat, please don't ever leave me like that again...  :inzi

ive completely cut out carbs. just eating meat and a bit of veg now.

Just had chicken makhani. Thinking of a hardees charbroiled beef burger for lunch tomorrow. ;)

Did you count how many souls got murdered in that? Wish you good health and hopefully one day this will not be fun for you. There is still time, you can save 100s, maybe thousands of lives by giving up meat today. Life is short, do something good with it. Make people happy.

Life is short and that is why one should have hardees charboiled burgers. :afridi Do you have hardees in India, FC?

Brothers, please don't post pics of meat here. I feel physically sick seeing them. Hope you understand my sensitivity towards this issue. Thanks

I had eaten an 18 ounce Angus Steak at a french restaurant in Quebec City some months ago... Was very delicious... :D

Haven't gone out for a steak in over a year. What is the best kind of steak brother ?When I get asked I always pretend I know my steak games, ask the waitress to name the ones they have and pick whatever she mentions lasts. What is your favourite and why ?

I am not a specialist either... But I was accompanied by my aunt and uncle, who are specialists and had much information... They had recommended Angus Steak, so I ordered it then... It was very delicious... After that in Toronto, we went to a restaurant and I ordered it there as well... So far this one is my favourite... Its bulky and quite heavy as well... Try this one...

How many souls do you murder everytime you shower ? how about when you wash your hands ? How many silkworms are killed to create silk clothing that you and the women of your household wear ? Over 15,000 children die everyday in this world from hunger, curable diseases. Talk about that rather than cows, chicken and dogs being eaten.

What is the place brother ? Have you been to Zets restaurant ?

I think it is from the poisonus gas leakage since you are from Bhopal.

Making fun of a tragedy which took thousands of lives. Classy. Very classy. Just like your sri lankan brother anuj whose posts would make you think that an Indian had beaten the living daylights out of him.

What is your opinion on the soy-based foods meant to mimic meat? I'm a meat-eater myself, but I've tried some of them and granted they don't taste like the real stuff, they're not that bad either. Don't think a lot of people would tell the difference either. Ever tried them?

Just had deer meat for breakfast :inzi Deer kebab with Paratha, it's ok, healthier option but doesn't taste as good as beef

Having eaten a lot of meat in my unfortunate times, i can safely say its not a big deal shifting to a more ethical option. Its been an year and i have had no trouble whatsoever. Soy based food is pretty good. Also in future meat tissue will be produced in labs without any slaughter and animal torture. Same for pharma industry. We are getting there, its hardly a matter of 10-20 years i think and when you talki of 100 years, future generations will hang their heads in shame imagining of things our people were doing in order to fill their stomach.

Seitan imo is better than Soy interms of duplicating the taste also as source of protein.

Also Mock meat is good but just lettting you know be careful with it it shouldn't be expired and it is processed as well. The monks in ancient times made fresh mock meat for some emperor that's not an issue the mock meat prepared now comes from Malaysia to SC and is second grade if from a bad importer.

In NA Seitan is easily available and defn better than its soy counterparts.

Anuk is not my brother. He and I have different opinion. More kids die everyday every day of curable diseases and poverty than Bhopal disaster. So calm down.

Meat = Heaven on earth. Soy is like fake substitute of chicken. It doesn't even make up for 5% of the meat.

Jai Sri Ram brothers,

I had soya chaap yesterday instead of paneer tikka. It was nice. I think you can have it with alcohol.

No , don't you think a man can cook? .

Cooking is unmanly. I never cook my stuff. Either my women do it for me or my servants. But i don't judge anyone. Whatever gives you peace of mind.

Backward mentality. But it is ok, i respect your view and all other views expressed by any backward minded people.

Soy is just as good as water when it comes to protein
http://www.musclehack.com/omg-this-protein-powder-is-no-more-effective-than-water/

Its pretty useless

Meat, Eggs and Milk need to be part of every healthy diet, without them you will only have an extremely inferior body of no muscle mass and full of body fat.

Please do remember when you die you will be judged for your actions. Every kukkad, bakra, gaaye, suar will be present in the court of the divine law and will testify against you and there you cant put the blame on the butcher boy alone. He is already being cooked into a pakora.

Saw caged kukads in my morning walk. The innocence and sadness on their faces has ruined my day. Unable to concentrate on work. :(

I wonder when will this sadness end. Those kukkads would look so good out of the cages.

Because I was made to eat it and because those animals were meant to be eaten. I agree that the slaughtering should be done in a respectable manner and not how it is done in most slaughterhouses.

I do wonder what would happen with all the cows, chickens, goats, camels, pigs, turkeys, rabbits and ducks that are raised on farms, if the entire world became vegetarian. Would they be killed off and disposed? Or left to roam the world, destroying every single ecosystem imaginable? Should we start killing off lions, hawks and snakes too? I feel so sad when a baby gazelle is ripped to shreds by hungry lionesses or a terrified mouse is swallowed whole by a snake.

The world is so cruel! :(

No, Allah has made those animals lawful for us. We thank him and eat what he has provided for us.

Haven't been able to digest my food at all. The kukkads did nothing wrong to be mercilessly slaughtered bro. They just entered this world like you and me. What if aliens come to our planet and start butchering our family for their beliefs too?

Will look better on my plate though. I prefer fried, crispy, with hot sauce and ranch.

They will be extinct because no one wants to have them anymore. Why the hell would people raise a chicken or pigs if they aren't really useful for anything ? By consuming meat, we are keeping these animals alive, not disrupting the food chain. Meat eaters are great for this earth. Vegetarians wan't to extinct these poor animals, disrupt the food chain and turn this world in to like the mars. So tell me, who are the good guys here ?

Modis India is leading the way In promoting vegetarianism, 35% of Indians are vegetarians more than any other country in the world.

This is what the idiots at PETA want to do. They want to kill all of our pets and all other domesticated animals because death is better than the lives they are living... Apparently.

Like I said, the baby gazelle that is devoured alive by hungry lions hasn't done anything to deserve it either. The cockroaches that we unknowingly step on haven't done much to deserve it either and I'm sure the plants that are eaten would prefer to be able to keep growing.

We cannot change nature or the established hierarchy. It is how it is. I'm sorry that you've been saddened by seeing those birds cruelly treated and I agree 100% that animal cruelty should stop but that doesn't mean that we stop eating meat which is part of our nature.

Humans are eaten by carnivores too. It is the way of life.

That's a very weird and backward way of thinking. What makes you think that cooking is "unmanly"?

I love cooking but my mom hates seeing me in the kitchen. All I want to do is make a spicy, chicken biryani one day.

Sikhs eat meat and they make up large % of the Indian military.

They're fed up with Modi too, methinks.

My wife has been lacto-ovo vegetarian for about a year now. I started giving it a go recently. Still eating eggs, milk and cheese, so it's not been too difficult so far. Glad to no longer be indirectly partaking in the mass slaughter of innocent animals. I have changed my views since living with the wonderful company of dogs and cats: it's wrong IMO to treat a cat like a member of the family whilst eating cows and pigs every day.

Wow James. So much respect, you're blessed to be with such a kind woman. Hoping you two will play a never ending partnership. I am also consuming eggs currently and haven't phased out the poultry products completely yet. But a gradual shift is all it takes. Even if one starts consuming less that's a positive step and I totally welcome that. Better ways need to be derived for harnessing the gifts from domesticated animals.

In my humanities lecture, my prof asked the class how could the NAZIs and Americans enslaved the Jews and Blacks with no regards for their lives. I put my hand and used how we view dogs and chickens for example. To my surprise some dumb blonde said something along the line of "I disagree, dogs are more friendly, more loyal and chickens aren't". The whole class laughed, she laughed thinking the whole class was laughing with her when they were laughing at her. Well the moral of the story is that we shouldn't discriminate animals and view them as lesser than other animals. But to be honest, it is very hard to care for bats, frogs and insects.

Fortunately everywhere more humane treatments of pets and non domesticated animals is being advocated. I remember times when people chained their dogs outside the house in the backyard. Not many do so now days and those who do are ridiculed by their neighbours. I remember giving my neighbour aunt a verbal on how poorly she treated her dog. If you can't treat them as family, better not have them.

On last to last valentines day i bought 2 caged birds for my girlfriend and asked her to free them with her own hands. It embarrassed her room mate whose boyfriend had gifted her a turtle that she kept in a jar mostly. Needless to say, it didn't take her 1 day to realize her insensitivity and she freed her turtle too and later at night texted me and thanked me with 3 hearts and 2 kisses.

Did you get actual kisses or did you just get e-kisses? Because the latter is just useless.

On whatsapp bro. They are not useless, we did get along very nicely after that. SO it was a nice initiative from her side.

On the same token why limit your love to animals only why not plants? - why not the whole planet? - and if we some how get into other star systems,we will do the same things to their Eco systems as well....

At some point you feel we are the problem, our intelligence and awareness causes all that, I am not sure if there is a cure for that... Other than get rid of us, but somebody better (means intelligent) than us will most probably do the same....
