My question is directed at the first generation desi immigrants who went to other countries in the search of livelihood. Would you want to come back to your home country?
I spent four months in London recently for a company project. While its a great city, I could not imagine settling there. My colleagues who had gone with me also felt the same. Apart from extra money, we did not see any lure of settling down or extending our stay there. I understand four months is a very short period and had I spent more time there, I might have liked it there more than India, but for me, cultural difference is just too much. May be had I gone at a younger age, I would have felt differently.
Third world countries have their own challenges, and I understand that requirements of family and kids come first and your kids might not be willing to leave their home, but what if you could come back, would you be willing to? Do you think you could again live in this chaotic part of the world or would you prefer to live in the comfort of your adopted country?
