Everyone in BCCI is nepotism hire or someone who knows someone. What is the qualification of other office bearers in BCCI? Why so much picking on Jay Shah?

Because he seems like the dumbest and most incompetent of the lot, and because he's at the top and is the administrative face of Indian cricket. His incompetence was on full-display last year. From the scheduling of the Asia Cup to announcing the World Cup schedule months before the start of the tournament. After which, a revised schedule was released where the dates or start times for 9 matches were changed. Not to mention the way in which ticket sales were mishandled; from not releasing enough tickets to the fans to the online ticketing portal being a complete mess that could not handle traffic.

India has always had cricket administrators with powerful political backgrounds. But rarely does their incompetence and ineptitude stand-out to such an extent that they become an internet meme among cricket fans.

You have some valid points and I agree to some extent. However, I have a feeling Jay Shah was going to be internet meme no matter what he ended up doing given who is his father. It doesn’t take much to be internet meme these days.

Rahul Dravid has finally officially confirmed that the 2024 T20 World Cup is going to be his last assignment with the national team.

Indian cricket team coach Rahul Dravid has finally officially confirmed that the 2024 T20 World Cup is going to be his last assignment with the national team. The former Indian cricket team captain, who has been the head coach of the side since 2021, said he won't be re-applying for the post. The BCCI has already advertised for the top post, with the new coach taking over from July 1. The 2024 T20 World Cup ends on June 29. Rahul Dravid was speaking ahead of the India's first match against Ireland at the T20 World Cup 2024.

Dravid was also asked about India's opening combination We have Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. Virat Kohli can open, he opened in IPL so everything is on cards".

Speaking to reporters ahead of India's World Cup opener against Ireland, Dravid said he enjoyed every bit of his coaching tenure. "Every tournament is important. Every game that I've coached for India has been very important for me. So for me this is no different just because it is going to be the last one that I'm in charge of," he said when asked if this tournament held more significance as it was his last one in charge of the team.

The former India captain had taken charge of the team in November 2021 following the T20 World Cup that year.

"I love doing the job. I've really enjoyed coaching India and I think it's a truly special job to do. I enjoyed working with this team and it's a great bunch of boys to work with but yeah but just considering you know unfortunately just the kind of schedules and where I find myself in the stage in my life I don't think I'll be able to reapply," he said.

"Both coach and selector appointment will be made shortly. CAC has interviewed and shortlisted two names and after reaching Mumbai whatever they have decided we will go by that. VVS Laxman is going to Zimbabwe but new coach will join from Sri Lanka series."

Rahul Bhai needs to be cut throat, he should go back to management roles or Indian A u-19 roles.
He is too soft for InTL cricket dominance, and i say that with utmost respect.

Rahul Dravid reveals reason behind continuing as head coach after CWC23 disappointment

After coaching India to T20 World Cup glory, Rahul Dravid revealed that he had no plans to continue as India head coach after the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final defeat.

Rahul Dravid has revealed that he had decided to leave his role as India's head coach after his initial two-year term ended at the end of last year's Cricket World Cup.

He said that he had no intention of renewing his contract after the heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the final, but a call from his captain Rohit Sharma changed his mind.

"Ro, thank you very much for making that call to me in November and asking [me] to continue," Dravid said in a video posted by the BCCI.

"I think it's been such a privilege and a pleasure to work with each and every one of you, but Ro, also thanks for the time. There is a lot of time we have to chat, we have to discuss, we have to agree, we have to disagree at times, but thank you so very much."

Dravid as a coach finally added silverware to his portfolio with the T20 World Cup title win after leading India to the final in both the ICC World Test Championship and ICC ODI Cricket World Cup in 2023.

Dravid, whose tenure ended after India’s triumph in the Caribbean, stated that he didn't believe in “redemption stories”.

This was in response to a question when he was asked whether it was satisfying to lift the World Cup on the same shores where India were knocked out in the group stages of the 2007 Cricket World Cup under Dravid’s captaincy.

"I'm not usually short of words but on a day like today, for me to be part of this, I could not be more grateful," Dravid said.

"For the respect, for the kindness, for the effort that each and everyone of you have shown to me, to my coaching staff, to my support staff.

"All of you will remember these moments. We always say, it is not about the runs, it is not about the wickets, you never remember your career but you remember moments like this, so let's really enjoy."

The successor for Dravid is yet to be announced, though VVS Laxman will take up the duties of head coach of a young Indian side that will play a five-match T20I series in Zimbabwe starting July 6.

Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, has stated that the new coach's first assignment will be the Sri Lanka white-ball tour in late July.
