In the next match of Group B in the T20 World Cup 2024, England is gearing up to compete against Scotland at the famous Kensington Oval in Bridgetown today, June 4th.

England, the current champions, are looking to start their campaign positively with a win against their neighboring rivals. On the other hand, Scotland is aware of the importance of this match and knows that their main players need to step up and perform exceptionally against a formidable opponent like England.

England should be winning this comfortably. Although in their last meeting in ODI format, Scotland won by 6 runs in a high-scoring game but this format is different.

Nasser Hussain: "England looking to blow Scotland away

"The only decision they had to make was with the bowling attack.

"Sam Curran is not picked, player of the tournament and the final two years ago. They have gone for all out pace in Jordan, in Wood, in Archer.

"From what we saw in the two games against Pakistan, albeit in different conditions, they looked in good nick, in good rhythm.

"Maybe they think they can blast Scotland away with that extra pace."

Game to start at 4pm local time

We will finally get going at the top of the hour after a 30-minute delay.

No overs have been lost.

A reminder that Scotland elected to bat after winning the toss

Scotland made the wrong decision to bat first no way they have bowlers to restrict England from scoring. Scotland will have to put a massive score

Inspection due at 4.15pm! GMT

That damp patch has caused some problems!

There will be an inspection at 4.15pm.

Awful. Another part of the world where drainage absolutely sucks. One light shower and they'll take ages to get that pitch ready.

Game to start at 4.25pm GMT
Hopefully we finally do get under way at that time!

Still no overs lost so it will be a full 20-over-a-side encounter at Kensington Oval, one Scotland are batting first in.

England's batting lineup is ridiculously strong this time. Even the relatively slower bats like Malan and Stokes are absent in this lineup.

Strong favourites to win the World T20. Only an in form Australia or West Indies on their day can stop this side.

Only Munsey and, to a much lesser extent, Berrington are decent batters. This should be a crushing defeat for Scotland despite winning a crucial toss.

Michael Jones hits a big one onto the roof of the stadium, damaging the solar panels. that will cost a lot

England need to rethink their bowling strategy. Reece Toppley needs to start ahead of one of these high pace bowlers.

They messed up even in the World Cup opener in India when they didn't play Toppley.

The Scots may not be able to expose this. But stronger sides can punish England.

Very good start from Scotland if they can get 180 they will definitely have a chance.

The rain factor really scares me. It could lead to some big teams getting eliminated if luck is not on their side. They could play good cricket and still get eliminated because of factors beyond their control.

I remember in the 2017 CT, Australia were eliminated in the first round because 2/3 of their matches were rained out.

Inspection at 6.50pm

The umpires will have a gander at conditions in around 15 minutes from now.

As a Scotsman, I’ll be happy for a 6 over game with a target around 60.

As a fantasy xi player, call it off now.

Scotland have to get around 90 WITHOUT losing any wickets…if we can get 2 points vs England then that’ll open up group B.

Seeing the progress of minnows it scares me where Pakistan stand at this WC

Come on Scotland! We've got a huge chance here and there's nothing better than beating England!!!

Well done Scotland. Batted well.
England were toothless and sloppy.

Wonder how many cricket related posts there will be across the internet along the lines of “West Indies is not fit to host international cricket / ICC tournaments”… if the rain was this bad in England and the T20 World Cup was being hosted here… we know there would be plenty :p:D

Not a single game in the 2023 World Cup was devoid a result . And that was a 50 overs tournament.

Not every place can guarantee results like India but there needs to be a permanent solution for this.

There is no permanent solution that is financially feasible.

Rain saved English team a point imo.

They're arguably the most explosive batting lineups in the world against a bowling attack that would be below average at county level. There's no guarantees of course but there's a reason the bookies still had England as very strong favourites even after that first innings.

One of the solutions would be for the ICC not to schedule tournaments in the off-seasons for the locations they have chosen.
Franchise cricket seems to get priority in the availability of calendar slots — only the insane would schedule a tournament in the Caribbean in June. Whilst not as typically wet as it is in July-Oct, it still rains a lot.
We will see more of what happened today, as the tournament progresses.

Scotland had a chance. They were playing brilliantly.

England bowling was unable to manage to take even a single wicket against the mighty Scots. Not looking good for them.

Fair enough. If the World T20 had to happen in the Caribbean , it should have happened in April/May like last time
