[Report] BCCI approaches Gautam Gambhir to become India's head coach

Very well deserved. Pakistan need to follow and learn from BCCI. They have invested a good share of profit from IPL into their cricketing infrastructure and domestic cricket. They brought all good foreign players/coaches in their grass root level and domestic structure. And appointed indian coaches for national team. All national coaches appointed come after performing well in domestic cricket.
Gautam is an excellent man for this job. He always prefer team win instead of personal performances and that is why he raised questions on dhoni, virat etc. he will bring more fighting spirit in indian team culture. Gautam as coach and hardik as captain will be very lethal combo for india

I don't think Pandya is a good captain. He is too dumb to understand the naunces of communication and man management .As gambhir is not a good man manager we should prefer a cool head.i will go with Pant for tests, sky for t20s and may be Gill for odis.

But Pandya's track record is great if you forget about the last season. He won the IPL in his first season as captain with a completely new team and then lead them to the finals the next year as well.

Personally, I think India should go with Pant in all three formats once Rohit is done. He comes across as a really mature guy with a good head on his shoulders. Not to mention, he represents the new generation of Indian batting and plays the game in a really exciting way, which can maybe even rub off on some of his teammates.

Gambhir and Pant would make a great team. I'm sure they already have some history together with both of them playing their cricket in Delhi.

To be frank, Pant have not played much commendable knocks in t20s and odis apart from here and there.as we are already struggling to push washed up rohit from limited formats .india will be happy to have different personalities amd less dependency.

Pandya messed up with West indies t20 series and lost it with brainless decision(2-3).so everyone was frustrated. He tries to act cool with his antics and will trigger people more.

The thread is about Gautam being made the coach not to discuss the captaincy matters here.

Gautam has had a successful tenure with KKR and at this point, there is no one better than him to be the next head coach. Good job BCCI.

Pandya brings the all new approach to play for win only. Virat, Dhoni they all preferred some little selfish approach and that was the reason virat could not win any ICC trophy as captain despite having one of the best Indian sides ever as a captain and same with dhoni as he was toothless in tests as a captain and end of his career

Pandya should be the white ball captain for India if they want to win ICC trophies

Pandya is literally the most selfish of all Indian captains in recent times. Absolutely crap attitude, no maturity. Unless his attitude goes complete 180 he will never be able to captain the side.

If you bring attitude then all aussies great captains had attitude issues barring steve waugh who was quite a mature guy. Ponting had attitude issues but he is regarded as all time best captain.

Dude, Hardik has a bad attitude towards his own team and when captain, he is even worse. He is not a team player or a leadership material by any stretch of imagination. Just an obnoxious jerk who can bowl pace and hit the ball once in a while.

He likes to hog the credit and when the team loses, blames the teammates and throw them under the bus. This time even Mumbai Fans cheered when MI lost in IPL.

Massive role. BJP is BCCI chief and now BJP will be coach too. Having said that, Gambhir seems to be a good manager. Not sure if he can keep his ego in check though.
They can’t get rid of Kangressi Rajiv Shukla though . also don’t think Roger Binny is a RSS alumni. Move on from the usual rhetoric especially when you have 0 clue.

Lol Kohli’s retirement incoming 😂 which should be the damn case anyway.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Fired "Wrong Side Of 30" Warning After Gautam Gambhir's India Coach Interview

"Gautam Gambhir has given the interview. It's been said that it was a virtual interview as opposed to WV Raman, who gave a fantastic presentation. I have just read that. Gautam Gambhir is the frontrunner in this race. It's been said everywhere and we have also understood that," Chopra said in a video on his YouTube channel.

"I am saying it will be an interesting tenure because you will have to manage the transition here, and that is never an easy thing. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Mohammed Shami, maybe Ravindra Jadeja, especially their roles in T20s, there are plenty of people who are on the wrong side of 30, 35 to 37, including Ravichandran Ashwin," he added.

Gambhir's contract, if awarded, will run until the conclusion of the 2027 ODI World Cup. In this period, many current superstars of the team will be closer to 40s than to 30s. Hence, Chopra feels some big calls could be taken as the roadmap for the future is prepared.

"In the next three to four years, when the 2027 World Cup comes, you have to prepare your team for that. There will also be a WTC in 2027 and a T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. So a very important roadmap will have to be prepared," he said.

"It's not going to be easy because it's said that transitions are most difficult. A very important job is to not let performances drop when transitions are happening. Secondly, transitions happen properly when you communicate well because you need to explain the reasons to players who are being retained and let go of," Chopra asserted.

Speaking at a launch event for his book, Ravi Ashwin said:

"I was playing my first full series, after only carrying drinks for the first two years. It was he (Gambhir) who gave me a lot of confidence at the beginning."

"I was not used to someone beyond my state giving me that sort of confidence."

"Gautam Gambhir is a very misunderstood person. He is a fighter."

"We give hero status to someone in our mind, and forget about everyone else. This is a sport, not a movie."

There are no heroes and villains. Gambhir is a competitor. His desire and hunger to win is unbelievable. I have a massive amount of respect for him."
