As per reports:

Pakistan is set to take the helm of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in January 2025, with Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), poised to become the new president. This appointment, based on a rotation policy among member countries, marks a significant moment for Pakistan's influence in regional cricket.

Current president Jay Shah from India received a one-year extension, ensuring a smooth transition to Naqvi's two-year term.

Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan's Interior Minister, will be juggling three major roles, showcasing his extensive experience and leadership capabilities. The official announcement is expected at the next ACC meeting later this year.

There is so significance to this is there? the presidency gets rotated every few years

I suppose he can highlight certain things or problems in ACC quite comfortably.
The ACC is a pointless organisation but I suppose it does give him leverage if Pakistan chooses to push for a Hybrid model for the next Asia cup scheduled in India. Jay Shah used his leverage quite well to push it through the last time.

But then again he has to be careful. Too much pushing and India would be happy to just drop the Asia cup. It's hardly a relevant tournament for anyone.

Jay Shah used his leverage on the surface as ACC chief but it was really his influence as BCCI chief that made the difference.

Naqvi won't have the same influence. ACC is completely pointless.

It helped though. As the powerful BCCI chief, he was appealing to himself as ACC president to change the tournament's format. But on the whole, you're right. This role has as much relevance as the rotating chairwoman of the annual Timbuktu flower arrangement competition.

Naqvi is such an unfit person to head of an organization let alone PCB or ACC.

Congratulations to him. He has been working hard to take Pakistan cricket towards progress. I hope he continues to make a positive impact in the Asian region for associate teams.

I don't think ACC President has that kind of leverage. Jay Shah had leverage not because of his ACC presidency but because of his power in BCCI.

Time to perform surgeries at Asian Cricket Council. :afridi

Is there no other person in Pakistan cricket. Naqvi is already an interior minister and has another cabinet responsibility I think, then he's also the PCB chief and now ACC chief. How can he be effective juggling so many responsibilities ?

So Naqvi lured in for a hybrid CT with that joke of a post ACC president, guess what a stadium's janitor has more significance than ACC president

The board can override the president any day. We all know who the rest of the members will vote for.

Mr. Naqvi should use his power of presidency to kick India out of ACC.
Not possible!!! Our board doesn't have money like BCCI plus our chairman along with board members and players are money hungry. India can get away with anything but we can even get proper justice.

As per reports:

Mohsin Naqvi, the current Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is set to become the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in December. This appointment is part of the ACC's rotational leadership system. Naqvi's new role will involve overseeing major tournaments, including the Asia Cup 2025 in India and the ODI edition in Bangladesh in 2027.

He will serve a two-year term as ACC President, succeeding Jay Shah, who was recently elected as the Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan's Interior Minister, will manage three significant positions, highlighting his extensive experience and leadership capabilities. The official confirmation of Naqvi's presidency is expected to be announced in the next ACC meeting in October-November.

It will be interesting to see if Naqvi sends the team to India and if Jay Shah forces India to tour Pakistan for the CT in his new role as ICC President, where he must ensure equitable treatment for member countries and continue to grow the game around the world!

I would like to see India touring Pakistan for CT bcoz it will be fun to beat you guys in your home but this is not in Jay Shah's hand. He needs permission from father who in turn would need permission from his big boss.

What exactly does this CM-turned-Interior Minister-turned-PCB Chairman-want to do?
