I saw on social media that we have selected our 25 man squad for the WC which will be cut down at a later date. Apparently this is the list.

Can [MENTION=9]Saj[/MENTION] [MENTION=93712]MenInG[/MENTION] [MENTION=133760]Abdullah719[/MENTION] confirm if this is true ? If it is I am sorry this squad is very very worrying. Abid Ali and Imam aren't even ODI players. Haris Sohail and Ruman are injured. Waqas Maqsood hasn't even played an ODI. Same with Mir Hamza. Yasir Shah is a proven failure in LO and is still being considered for the WC.

I hope it's not true but these names have been repeatedly selected in the LOI squads for the past 18 months so I doubt they'll introduce many new faces like Saud Shakeel or Saad Ali at this stage.

We will have to wait for the inevitable debacle at the World Cup before the necessary changes.

I count only 6 specialist batsmen in the entire 25 man pool !

What happened to Amin? He never got a real chance in the Top 3. Played one ODI then discarded iirc.

Asif Ali has failed as a specialist bat. Imam has bashed minnows.

Masood hasn't played one game. If you're gonna select a debutant, why not Saad or Saud?

Playing Abbas in ODIs might backfire, especially considering he has no experience.

Other than this, the rest of the names are expected.

Fair point. Could at least have another specialist spinner on there in place of one of those fast bowlers.

I think it is more or less expected. They are unlikely to make significant changes between now and the World Cup.

However, I hope that by the end of the tournament, at least 10 of these players are booted out for good.

Every team needs atleast 5-6 power hitters, 1-2 at the top, a few in the middle and most importantly at the death. One consolidator will do. Players will also have to be selected keeping in mind the conditions.

Wont be shocked if this squad is true, looks like inzis favourites and family are getting a free ride in squad until world cup. Seems there are to many protected players when it comes to our batting. Get ready for a poor showing during world cup just like the last one.

Don’t think it’s reliable. For WC, I think teams first need to give 30 names; then final squad. Normally, they call 30-35 players for first camp. Also, I am sure they’ll wait for the end of PSL, probably PAK Cup as well before finalising priliminary squad.

In any case, I am sure these 25 will make the first cut of 30-35, therefore no judgment can be put on this squad - it’s the final 16 that matters & I don’t trust Inzamam. Latest, he has dropped JK because of toe injury but his Test squad was carrying 3/4 semi fit players.

Well no surprise, these players have been around the ODI and T20 setup of the team in last couple of months so its not surprising. With that being said I am not satisfied with this team. There's names that should be mentioned in that list that aren't and there are players like Waqas Maqsood, Mohammad Hafeez and Yasir Shah plus so many more that are there.

Unfortunately, after the 10 players are booted out you will get the recycled 10 that would include the likes of Shehzad, Akmals, and what not. You can argue that those guys are better but the records show they all are the same. Inept.

Most are proven bums and am now convinced that they have susars in the PCB or that PCB selectors like to watch certain select few men on their TV screen, either way, no judgement. Very progressive if the latter.

If this rumoured short list is somewhat true, it's an awful squad but that's what you get with Inzi. This stems back to his captaincy days when he hardly gave opportunities to new blood. Given the trend of his selections it is deeply concerning from what appears to be with Mickey Arthur having little say with his preferences.

I hope this isn't an illustration of what final squad might look like otherwise the WC campaign will end in tears.

Either way Inzi needs to be booted out asap. Picking known names is not the way to go about your role. PSL 4 is a breeding ground for LOI team and it is imperative those involved in the selection process test out the new finds. There are hardly any batsmen from that squad who can play pace bowling. I just hope Wasim Khan doesn't sit back and allow all this incompetence to continue.

Also Ik proved that he still living in the time of between late 80s and early 90s. None of his selection in PCB is any good for modern day cricket or merit based selection. The selection of Mani, Wasim Khan, W Akram, Mohsin Khan.... along with retaining Inzi as selector will not bring any fortune for our cricket. These people are there for high pay cheque and they will not interfere each other's work.

While I agree the other names may somewhat be appointments that PCB may end up ruing however Wasim Khan is an excellent appointment who has the skills to perform his role. I just hope no one gets in his way and is allowed to perform his role without any constraints.

Don't we all know the WC squad already?

Keeping Inzamam will explode on the face of PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and Imran Khan during World Cup. Yesterday when he announced his hilarious picks, public on social media started targeting Mani. Asked him why is nepotistic Inzi still being supported? He is completely emboldened now does'nt even need to explain why he is picking Imam, this is th level he has stoop down to.

Najam Sethi used to ensure that PSL performers are considered by selectors and picked for the squad. With him not there the good performances in PSL will also go to waste.

Can say no PSL performer will make the side this year.

Coach Arthur needs to meet with PCB chairman and govt.. and fix this crisis. Leaving it to Inzamam will lead to disaster same as Pakistan's exit from 2007 World Cup.

Inzi start as chief selector as boom does not mean he wanted to introduce new players but he didn't have any choice. Most of the players back then were either injured or too old to represent team. You can see his action for last 2 years. He still keep same bunch of players he started with whether they perform or not.
He does not have any understanding about team selection regarding the situation, ground or abilities. He will select same bunch of players from same 30 players pool whether its in UAE, England, Sri Lanka or South Africa. Same bowlers will be selected whether its spin, flat or swing pitch. Same way same batsmen will be selected in different formats whether they are fit for that particular format or performing bad/well.

I think he is the worst selector I have ever seen. At past we always had 1 or 2 surprise players in the team and some of them come really good. Now its boring and there is not much passion in his work.
