Yeah, Big big question mark when it comes to this... Many factors here... pathetic team selection is number 1 for me.
But TBH, sample size is small to judge any captain
Bhai rahnei do.
Agha has already managed to do in 3 outings what rizzu couldn't. I dont care about wins/losses. Obviously that's team dependent.
I rank a captain on these factors
A) Individual performance, hence the reason why I dont rate shan, breadley era is gone and outdated. Nowadays a captain has to be a contributing member.
Ideally he should actually be the best player but tbf that isnt always the case, however they need to be performing at least.
B) Willingness to do what's best for the team. Agha shoved Hasan Nawaz up the order when spin came on, despite knowing full well that he isnt a quick starter and isnt suited to bat at no 5..however he knew Muhammad haris and Hasan Nawaz are better suited at no 3 and no 4 in pakistani conditons vs Bangladesh.
C) Be competent in team selections, DRS reviews and field placements.
^^ Obviously this is bowler dependent. If your bowlers suck fielding + Revoews will go down the drain but you yourself should be competent enough to make the right decision with the resources you have on offer.
Rizwan in t20 fulfils none of these and in odi and test only A is somewhat debatable as he's able to somewhat fulfil it by avg 40 which is fair.
Rizzu is NOT A T20 OPENER, nor is he a Decent no 4 odi batsmen for pakistan. He's a good no 6 in test cricket tbf. It makes no sense to have rizwan open ahead of anyone in t20 and bat at no 4 as a middle order batter in odi unless we need minnow bashing in pindi. Then he's fine for that no.
Similarly hes the least competent when it comes to field selections and drs. He's so bad at it that's its hilarious.
And team selection ko to bhool hi jao. Also no aqib wasnt controlling Rizwan by plugging a cord into him and controlling him like a video game character.
The decison to have babar open was rizzu's decison and babar himself forwarded it as they felt that given his lack of form opening would tue easiest position for him to bat in odi, mainly because in tests opening is the hardest position but in odi a good player of early seam dominates.
Theirs no fielders on the outer ring and babar's biggest weakness is spin, opening gives him over 10 to 18 overs to get settled before spin comes on.
