Obviously not confirmed and could well be a "wish" type report but would this be a good move by the PCB if it happens?

Finally Shadab will be removed from a guaranteed starting spot!

I don't know if its a good decision or not. You should give confidence to your premier spinner. You need Shadab to fire if you want to win. Ind and Pak are favorites to win this time because of the conditions.

If you look closely enough at the stats, degradation of Pakistan's spin is the main reason behind their downfall in t20. Not only stats, this can also be observed by keen followers. Imad is a darter. Shadab is horrible. Usman is OK. Zahid is the best t20 leg spinner in world cricket after Rashid khan. His lengths are immaculate like Rashid khan. You win or loose by finest margins and at such time not playing Zahid is terrible. Imad might still play as a good number 7 with the option of 1-2 overs. If shadab plays, better get prepared to come back in first two matches. They are gonna play Usman qadir, which is OK but not Zahid. There is no merit in Pakistan cricket. Nepotism and cricket player's sons and nephews play

Unfortunately, our "premier spinner" is quite mediocre. Sure, play him and if he performs, keep playing him, but he's not VC material. I think he needs this kick up the backside. Otherwise, he's going nowhere. I hope this news is true.

Bad news.

Shadab has been made the vice than let him stay.

Maybe we could rename the vice captain to assistant captain and could appoint multiple players.

I’m not sure about premier spinner,

But what I am sure about is the fact that Shadab’s influence as a wannabe batsmen is further unbalancing our side that is already unbalanced due to this management’s fetish of accommodating Babar and Rizwan as openers.

Shadab has enough sway in the side to have himself down at number 5!! In Test crickets, I don’t mind it Babar bats at 6 or 7 alongside Faheem Ashraf. But not in white ball cricket! Guys like Hassan Ali and Mohammad Wasim JR are more promotable in T20 cricket than Shadab is, he shouldn’t be batting before them in any case!

Who is current Vice Captain? I thought Rizwan already is.

I meant Shadab at 6 or 7 in Test cricket, not Babar*

Finally, a good decision.

Rizwan is fully deserving of the spot and has proven it as well.

Shadab is not good enough and is only playing because there aren't many other options available.

A quality genuine spinner easily takes his spot.

To be honest, Shadab himself is building his brand as next Steve Smith. He promotes himself in batting anytime he gets the power to make that decision. I don't think i have heard any decent cricket pundit talking about his all-round ability. If anything, i have only heard guys like Akram mentioning how he needs to work on his bowling a lot to be effective in long term. I don't blame Sadab. As a professional he is entitled to grow as a player but i genuinely feel its harming the team. Guys like Asif Ali, Azam are in the team already for slogging then why does he needs to move up the order. I don't get it.

Rizwan is the real captain anyways, speaking with bowlers, motivating the fielders whilst giving direction to the newer players.

Rizwan is the highest run-scorer so far in National T20 Cup - 135 runs in three innings at an average of 45.00.

Shadab is woefully in-equipped to be leading any team. He hasn't even established himself as a reliable player which shouldn't even put him in the conversation for a leadership role. Plus, the more I see of him as captain whether its for IU or Northern, the more disappointed I am. He's nowhere near ready.

Shadab has little control on his leg spinner or any type of ball. He needs hours of hard work to put it right.

Rizwan is vice captain in test. Shadab was made white ball vice captain at the time when Rizwan wasn't established in the whiteball setup. Now with Rizwan's performance as well as his ability to lead that he has shown, naturally he is contention for white ball vice captaincy as well.

Will be bad for Shadab's confidence I feel.

He should be VC in all three formats. If Babar doesn't work out as captain, Rizwan is the only player in the side who they could fall back on, and who seems like he could actually be successful as captain.

Appointing Shadab VC in the first place was an incredibly poor decision. I have full-confidence that he will become a champion cricketer for Pakistan one day. But that day is just not here. Plus, our young players often have a tendency to become cocky and overconfident when they are elevated at a young age. They let the success get to their head which ends up affecting their performance and on-field behavior.

Shadab has shown a number of times that he is not ready to lead. Just the other day he was like a spitting image of Sarfraz when Sindh had his side under the pump.

It would be the right call in my opinion, although there is nothing official on this yet from PCB.

While it'll be a harsh slight to Shadab it is ultimately a justified call. Rizwan's performances are setting an example to the team while Shadab is currently doing the opposite. Leadership should be a privilege, not a right, and Rizwan has clearly earned the privilege to stand alongside Babar more than anyone else.

wrong move

Babar is the one who needs to be removed from captaincy and Rizwan should do the formality to “officially” become the captain.
Rizwan already runs the show while Babar stands timidly in some corner.

Babar also is better off focusing on his batting alone and not worry bout captaincy headaches.

And then it really doesn’t matter who the vice captain is, nobody gives a rat’s rear end about it.

I was surprised that Shadab was made vice-captain initially.

I've not seen much leadership qualities from Shadab so far.

Its too early to give him the role when he is not a consistent performer at this stage of his career. I am okay with him captaining in the PSL and domestic cricket for now. He however should play maximum number of 4 day games and bowl lengthy spells to improve his bowling.
