well US did vote to keep him in prison, along with UK because of their economic interests in SA.

Obama is getting lots of props for his 'wonderful speech' and Mandelas memorial...

Heres focusing on just a few parts...

'For around the world today, we still see children suffering from hunger, and disease; run-down schools, and few prospects for the future. Around the world today, men and women are still imprisoned for their political beliefs; and are still persecuted for what they look like, or how they worship, or who they love.'

Cough Saudi Arabia, cough Egypt...need I go through the list of barbaric regimes the US supports for its own interests...i'm not singling the US out here but to claim one gives a damn about people being imprisoned for their beliefs whilst actively ignoring the likes of Egypt whilst championing the rights of protesters in Ukraine is just the hypocrisy I'm speaking of...

Do I need to discuss the effect of US corporations and its friends the World Bank and IMF in creating hunger, disease to serve elites...again not something I am singling the US out for...I would point to Camerons hypocrisy if he were to make such ridiculous statements which evidently arent followed...

'We, too, must act on behalf of justice. We, too, must act on behalf of peace. There are too many of us who happily embrace Madiba's legacy of racial reconciliation, but passionately resist even modest reforms that would challenge chronic poverty and growing inequality.'

This is just hilarious from a man who authorised the bombing of Libya turning Africa's most wealthy and equal nation into a hellhole full of militias killing each other and growing inequality....this is the same man who defends Israel's apartheid...

'There are too many leaders who claim solidarity with Madiba's struggle for freedom, but do not tolerate dissent from their own people. And there are too many of us who stand on the sidelines, comfortable in complacency or cynicism when our voices must be heard.'

And these are exactly the same leaders Obama supports unless they of course don't allow US corporations access to resources...

'The questions we face today -- how to promote equality and justice; to uphold freedom and human rights; to end conflict and sectarian war -- do not have easy answers. '

The US like other nations has no interest in upholding equality and human rights...this is a nation that has Guantanamo Bay lol...a nation that considers anyone who is male to be a combatant in FATA when it drones it...a country that goes to war and allows corporations to rape and pillage...a country which incites sectarian conflict as seen in Syria...a nation that has no respect for anyones human rights as its establishment continues to spy on world leaders and civilians...this list can go on and on...

'We can choose a world defined not by conflict, but by peace and justice and opportunity.'

This is just laughable...

And in general this attempt to present the idea that Mandela's causes have always been supported...lol Cameron is doing the same thing this when the UK and the US supported apartheid and called Mandela a terrorist...

Obama can claim Mandela if he likes...but many of us know that the US has no interest in equality, justice, human rights etc..and Obama's action no matter how constrained he is by Republicans (the standard excuse) he has simply shown himself to believe in none of those things...actions speak louder than words and never has that been more apt than in addressing a fine orator in Obama...

Lol at Obama saying Mandela is his hero and then in the same breath providing aid to the biggest apartheid movement in recent history in Israel.

(Reuters) - Zindzi Mandela, daughter of former South African president and liberation hero Nelson Mandela, died on Monday, the Mandela family said.

Zindzi Mandela, the youngest daughter of anti-apartheid activist Winnie Madikizela-Mandela and Nelson Mandela, rose to international prominence when she read out Nelson Mandela's rejection of then-president P.W. Botha's offer of a conditional release from prison in 1985.

The Mandela Legacy Foundation, speaking on behalf of the family, said memorial and funeral arrangements for Zindzi would be announced in the course of the week. It did not say why she had died.

On this day, the great man was born in 1918, Mvezo, South Africa
