Basically, they are neither hypersonic glide vehicles (HGV) nor hypersonic cruise missiles (HCM).

They are just bog standard ICBMs. Now I wouldn't want one to land on me, but there are no distinguishing features which make these into anything other than the ICBMs which the USA and USSR/Russia have been pointing at each other for years.

Except for the fact that Russia lacks the technology tp fire them with the same accuracy as the USA, and worse, Russia can only fire them from under the non-stealth 1980's-vintage MiG-31.

I'm old enough to remember my Dad going to the cinema to watch the Rumble in the Jungle in 1974.

Basically George Foreman spent 8 rounds throwing everything he'd got at Muhammad Ali. And then Ali knocked him out.

This looks a lot like that. Russia failed to win their 3 day war, and are now bogged down in a near-stalemate around the country, but the Ukraine is starting to hit them where it hurts.

The warning signs are very much there for Russia. The flagship of the Black Sea fleet has been sunk. Half the Black Sea Naval Air Arm has been destroyed on the ground in Crimea. Ukraine is now openly hitting targets in Belgorod, 40 km inside Russia.

They have thrown everything they have at Ukraine and basically have nothing left.

(Please don't say "they still have nuclear weapons". We both know that if Russia uses even battlefield nuclear weapons their entire country will be flattened inside 12 hours).

It probably doesn't help that the "master strategist" Putin twice used chemical weapons on the streets of England this century. And that Biden, not Trump, is President.

It means that he has two adversaries who are very much invested in ensuring his defeat and removal, and preferably death.

You keep brandishing this 3 day claim around. Can you provide me a single Russian MoD statement to that order? Please provide a source that includes the timetable and is from the Russian leaders.

The Russians have yet to attack anything with technology more advanced than what the Americans used in Operation Desert Storm in 1991.

Last March when that base was hit the war was between Ukraine and Russia both using Soviet Era equipment.

Since then the war has fallen into a never-ending pattern: Russia using vast amounts of ancient artillery to flatten residential neighbourhoods and occupy them at less than walking pace. While Ukraine uses its technological advantages in donated old western equipment (which is still 1-2 generations more advanced than Russian equipment) to pick off Russian tanks and soldiers, but without being given enough of the superior western equipment to actually regain much territory.

Wrong about the base, a hypersonic missile was used. It was undetected and that was when the Americans stopped talking about boots on the ground and a no fly zone. Remember at the start when the no-fly zone talk was the talk of the town? Well almost overnight it stopped. The hypersonic missile also caused the Americans to start rushing through tests of their own.

The Russians are going slow to avoid casualties. Hence why I asked what you thought the figures on both sides were. Right now 12-15k Russians have been killed so far and the majority were in February and March. The Ukrainians have seen 80k killed at least and at the least double that wounded or deserted.

Everyone keeps saying the same rubbish about the Russians going slow, do you have their timetable? Come on share it with the rest of us we would like to see it too.

Everyone keeps telling us about the Russians running out of weapons and ammunition but they are still using 70k shells a day compared to 6-10k by the Ukrainians. From where are the west going to provide another 60k shells a day to just break even with Russia?

The Russians seem incapable of learning how to fight.

The one bridge that the Ukrainians have been struggling to knock out is the Antonovsky Bridge out of Kherson.

Today the Russians obligingly drove 9 trucks full of ammo over the bridge nose-to-tail. And do the Ukrainians finally got to blow it into a million pieces.

In separate news, it’s being briefed that yesterday Putin was told for the first time that 65,000 Russian soldiers have been killed so far in Ukraine in just under 6 months.

Or, as [MENTION=135003]bones[/MENTION] frames it, 12,000-15,000 Russian dead so far.

All missiles are hypersonic.

The device you allude to was probably air-dropped from a Mig-31 which enhances the range of the weapon.

Congratulations to the FSB.

They still haven’t identified the killers of any of Putin’s opponents in the last fifteen years.

But Dugina was killed by a Ukrainian woman on holiday with her 12 year old daughter in the car, along with fake Donbas and Kazakh licence plates.

And she accidentally dropped her Azov Regiment ID card at the scene of the crime, because obviously she’d take that to Russia.

And then she fled to Estonia, coincidentally in the week that it displeased Russia by removing Soviet Era statues.

I do wish the Ukrainians had committed this murder. But the FSB’s findings are so ludicrous that they merely confirm that the FSB did it.

Frankly I haven't had the time to look into the character of the man. With the IK situation it's been a frantic last 24 hours hasn't it?

But there are these types of characters all over the world, I'm sure there are plenty more of them in Russia too. However these types of characters are not recognised in the government as a funded and recognised unit, something like the Kraken and Azov.

I have seen different reports from different groups. Hard to know which one is correct.

You will never get the truth until long into the future. But right now it's around 50k total losses for Russia with around 12-15k deaths. For Ukraine it's around 200k losses and around 80k deaths.

Ukraine are getting absolutely annihilated by the Russian artillery.

Tonight Zelensky and his spokesman were pretty honest for once. Apparently despite using almost 100 himar shells the Antonosky bridge still stands and the Russians use it sending truck by truck. Arestovich basically said the crimea bridge would require a tactical nuke, that's how strong it is.

Again.. you have taken something and made a story up. He said 5 DAYS AGO that the bridge hadn't been destroyed yet (it's since been hit again and blown up a Russian ammo convo on it).

He also said the KErsch bridge is stronger... he didn't mention a Nuke at all.

The 9k figure came from Ukraine lol. If only 9k soldiers have been lost - why have they gone through their 8th wave of mobilisation? It's one or the other, either they've lost a lot of soldiers and need to mobilise or they haven't and they don't need to mobilise.

I'd say 9k Ukranian soldiers have been killed in August alone so far.

Ukraine is a free, democratic country. We will find out if they are lying. Why whouldn't they keep mobilising? They are defending their country. The more weapons they have the more people it can mobilise.

I ask you another question, if Ukraine are doing so well, why have they been unable to launch a counter offensive at the BTG level or higher since the start? We're 6 months in, apparently the Russians are out of soldiers and weapons. Ukraine have been given masses of weapons from the west and have have mobilised through 8 waves. Surely Ukraine would have been able to take back some territory right?

The following statement based on all mspzis true. The Russians have made territorial gains towards Mykolaiv after weeks of no movement.

Apparently this was not planned but after some reconnaissance work they found this area is not as well protected as the Donbas and decided to take the opportunity.

The pathetic Russian lies about the Dugin assassination would be funny were they not clearly the pretext for an escalation in Russia's war crimes.

She must be the first car bombing victim in history to be given an open coffin revealing no facial damage. The car burned to a crisp but miraculously she didn't.

I commented on Day 1 that this clearly wasn't the work of the Ukrainians (unfortunately) but that we would be able to work out who did it by what absurd story the Russians concocted.

And within 12 hours they miraculously solved it, and managed to blame both Ukraine and Estonia.

So it is blatantly obvious that this was an FSB False Flag operation, and that Putin has no qualms whatsoever about killing one of his cronies' children.

It's so obvious that even the Russia supporters on this thread can't bring themselves to deny it.

2. You believe that the Ukrainians would send an assassin to Moscow, with her 12 year old daughter, swapping multiple times per day between Russian, Kazakh and occupied Donbas licence plates, in a car as distinctive as a Mini Cooper.

3. You believe that the FSB failed to pick up anything suspicious.

4. You believe that she then blew up Dugina by remote control, while her daughter sat in the next seat.

5. You believe that Dugina, having been blown up and burned to a crisp, had no visible injuries and so was buried as we all saw in an open casket funeral.

6. You believe that the assassin and her daughter than fled to Estonia of all places.

7. You believe that the FSB, having failed to spot any of these things, then solved the case in 24 hours flat.

As a Briton, I find it extraordinary that the Russians are using the "stay out of this or you will be responsible for a nuclear war" line.

Let's be quite clear about things:

1. This is an unprovoked war of Imperial conquest launched by Russia against a nation which was previously a fellow Soviet Socialist Republic.

2. There was no casus belli permitting Russia to take military action. (You don't just get to say "my neighbours are Nazis so I am invading).

3. Russia has twice in the last 16 years (2006 and 2018) illegally imported chemical weapons into the UK and has used them to murder Russian dissidents.

I actually see no reason for the UK and USA - which are the main countries providing meaningful military assistance to Ukraine - to place conditions upon the use of the weapons that they deliver.

This Russian government has already used chemical weapons against the UK. As far as I am concerned, the consequences of this war are the responsibility of Russia, and no-one else.

The BBC didn't stop. This was put the Lavrov a few months ago by Steve Rosenberg in Moscow.
Lavrov was saying the same as you and the BBC said..

"We want to report on it... We asked the DPR and LPR if we could come and report and they said NO"

EU feared to be losing the will to back Ukraine

European support for Ukraine’s battle against Russia could dry up amid the cost of living crisis, Britain fears.

In an acknowledgement that European support could fracture in the coming months, Josep Borrell, the EU’s top foreign diplomat, on Tuesday said keeping the bloc together was a “day-to-day” struggle.

Vladimir Putin sees “the weariness of the Europeans and the reluctance of their citizens to bear the consequences of support for Ukraine”, he told AFP, adding: “We will have to endure, and spread the costs within the EU.”

The source briefed on talks with European capitals said British envoys had been directed to argue that the cost of allowing Putin to win in Ukraine was greater than that from spiralling bills.

What do you all have to say about the fact that west Ukranians and the neo-nazis hold Bandera is such high regard? In some places they have status of him and kids sings songs in his rememberance.

Yep I heard about this liberation of umpteen settlements. Can you name them?

When the Russians say they've taken over a city, it's usually taken and the sweeping takes a few more days. Examples include Popasnaya, Izyum, Lysychansk, Severodonesk, Mariupol etc.

What are these settlements that Ukraine has liberated?
 
Just look at LiveUAMaps, which is a pro-Ukranians source. Zoom in on the Kherson region and switch the dates between a week ago and today and you'll see the Russians have taken about 25-30sq km. Remember this is where Ukranian were getting huge numbers of forces ready along with western supplied weapons, but in the last few days they are going backwards.

But as you said - it's all part of the Ukranian plan. Lose territory and hundreds of troops, but launch a counter offensive later...

2nd - Ukraine has lost this week, what it took the week before. Exactly the same. I've just checked, next week it will prob go back the same.

I think some people support Putin because he doesn’t pretend to stand for something good. He’s a bad guy and behaves like one. That’s easier for some to deal with than the West, which is basically good but falls short of its lofty ideals.

I think it’s better have ideals and fall short than have none.
 
The eu support for Ukraine will collapse this winter.

Because various governments will be hit by energy and inflation crisis and there will be huge splits amongst the countries in Eu on continually backing ukraine and going loggerheads with russia which is causing recession and massive issues for their industrial sectors.


Zelensky the comedian actor will obvious continue to be the cheerleader for the war to continue and force the eu to fight to the end.

Unless ukraine takes kherson in any counteroffensive by autumn , countries with far right leaning goverments should bail out of this war.

Yes what's happening in ukraine is terrible but I'm not willing yo pay 6000 plus for gas and electricity and watch a tub of lurpak start hitting the ten pound mark , people In the UK never signed up to be skint , hungry and cold during winter.

Some EU and EFTA governments will hardly be hit with energy rises at all (France, Sweden. Norway).

By March the average household bill in UK will be heading for £5000 though.
 
There’s a reason why some of the EU leaders want to relax sanctions on Russia, winter is coming, and easing sanctions will help reduce energy bills for Millions living in Europe.

EU is between a rock and a hard place; win/win for Putin.

I've just been offered £260 a month off British Gas, i'm not taking it though.

Or they simply don't believe the story given by a country famed for killing its own people to enhance its needs? Look at the terror attack that was used to justify the Chechen war.

How are they ignoring it? It's been headline news on the BBC and SKY.

No idea what happened, I doubt Ukraine did it. Doesn't benefit them
