This is the honours board at the Adelaide Oval which lists some of the top batsmen who have scored 100s at the venue. From Pakistan we have Yasir Shah.

Whilst its great for Yasir, what does it say about our batting talent? Point to ponder.

What a list to be on !

Lara , Tendulkar, Cook, Pietersen, Kohli .......and then we have :yasir

What does it say about the other countries?
There are only 4 teams (except pakistan) on there from 2003.

Surprised to see no Sri Lankan or kiwi that list. I guess Adelaide never hosted them.

The other guys should feel privileged to be up there with the GOAT.

A doubles hundred, a 150 and a 113 all in one 2 match series. What a beast!

Rahul Dravid is probably at that top. PRoduced a a match winning performance with 233 & 72 not out. A test where Australia made 548 in the first innings and still went on to lose it.

This is not the full picture - I just took a part of it to make a point about the Pakistan batting situation.

Oh I see.

But still I mean not even a single player since 2003.

Wasim Akram and Imran Khan in there too!

Jayasuriya scored one in 1995/96 tour. In many ways that is said to be the innings which redefined him. He was a different batsman after that!

Yup he took Gillespie, Bichel, Brad Williams and MacGill to the cleaners.

I think Agarkar was also one of the real heroes of the test match and deserved MOM.

Lmao look at his face. Failed miserably at his primary job and made a meaningless 100 with several drops and edges.

Most importantly his team got absolutely flogged and he’s so elated at his silly achievement.

'Silly achievement', are you SERIOUS?
Fair enough his bowling sucked, but to score a century in australia against a world class attack of starc, hazlewood, cummins and lyons, is an AMAZING ACHIEVEMENT, especially for a bowler!

Context matters.

This is only the fifth Test match Pakistan has played at Adelaide Oval. And Pakistanis are mentioned eight times on the entire board. Your photo is only showing centurions of the last 16 years. Pakistan played no Tests between 2003 and 2018 at Adelaide.

Yasir is a better bat than faf i saw the batsman rankings in odi and seeing faf at number 4 really surprised me. He is extremely over rated and a very average player I haven’t seen a worst captain or a player getting out on the softest of dismissals in the history of South African cricket. The guy thinks he’s all cooland calm but he’s a pressure cooker. I’m surprised a guy like kohli would say he would have faf in his team lmao no wonder India doesn’t win many Icc tournaments under kohli since he makes dumb calls like these.

Ok yeah u can hate on his terrible bowling but he is a very good batsman a 50 can be made by fluke but not a 100 plus luck favours the brave. On top of that he played over 200 balls to get it which shows he has defence and technique and can survive against the best bowlers in test cricket which also shows he has great temperament you can hate on his terrible bowling but don’t hate on the fact that he deserved that hundred and saved our team some shame.

As I mentioned, context matters. 100 is no mean feat, neither is a 50. But his team just got the worst ever pounding by Ozzies and a grin is last thing that should be on his face in this situation. Its a team game after all.

Believe the last time Pakistan played a test match at the Adelaide Oval was 1989-90, so during the intervening period it would have been somewhat difficult for any Pakistani to get on that list.

Three points:

1. Wasim Akram is there too. Adelaide has always been an easy venue to score in daylight - that was the argument for picking Umar Akmal who has such a good record in Australia.

2. It shows that in Australia usually the main bowling weapon is bounce. Which makes Pakistan’s cunning “Teens and Dwarves” attack strategy look ridiculous.

3. Consider just how many runs Shadab Khan would have scored here. In South Africa he scored almost four times as many runs as Yasir Shah in half the innings. And four times as many wickets in half the matches.

Shadab Khan would not have gotten as many runs as Yasir and he would have been taken apart with the ball

This tour has shown your love for Shadab is unwarranted.

This century has unfortunately only extended his career. He has only probably started working on his batting as he knows he is under pressure for his place due to his poor performances with the ball .

He has been a test regular for years and his fitness has been poor for a while. He has hardly worked on his batting until his place has been under pressure.

Yasir Shah sums the attitude amongst Pakistan cricket right now. Entitled to do what you want as you a senior and not improve your game because your place is safe. Than start working on your game to keep your place. Also Misbah will only stick with him due to his experience .

If you want to sum up modern day Pakistan cricket, Yasir Shah is what sums up .

This is very much of an opinion.

However, that this tour has shown us that Yasir Shah is useless in the Southern Hemisphere is a fact.

So you believe Shadab would have scored more than Yasir and not been as leaky lol?

Neither is the answer for me. I don't agree with the continued selection of Yasir.

I don't know about scoring more, but Yasir had a very flukey series and was the 2nd highest run-scorer from the team for the first and last time in his career. Shadab clearly has more potential with the bat. As for leaky, I don't know, but I am traumatised by watching Yasir bowl in Australia, I would rather take just about any Pakistani spinner over him. Yes, even Zulfiqar Babar.... OK maybe not, but you get the point.

Shadab has not developed his game in 2 years. He would have been just as leaky and he would not have scored as many runs.

Yasir should not have been on this tour that is a fact.

If PCB nurture him well by relieving him of his bowling duties and encouraging his batting talent, he could become a better batsman than Steve Smith.
